LifeCubby Online Portfolio Offers Full Access to Features for All Users, Regardless of Device

The LifeCubby website allows parents and day care providers to easily upload and tag memorable images of children for storage orin the case of child care providersto create instant notifications to parents about everything from a cute utterance to an urgent snow day announcement.

The company, founded by child care CEO Susan Testaguzza, had previously created apps to allow smartphone and tablet users to use LifeCubby on their mobile devices. After observing user behavior and comparing the features available in the apps to the usability of the LifeCubby website, the company decided to retire its apps in favor of a website created in responsive design. Responsive design means that the website displays itself in full on any device, but the shape of the display and the layout of the menus automatically changes based on the size and dimensions of the users device.

“The app we released last year allowed users to upload a single photo and tag developmental categories, said Testaguzza, of Columbus, Ohio. However, it offered limited functionality compared to all the robust features available on our site. We found our users were preferring to go straight to the web from their mobile devices, anyway.”

Now, thanks to responsive design, users accessing the website from mobile devices will have a more elegant interface. And users who enjoy easy access to the site by clicking the LifeCubby icon on their phone or tablet can use their devices standard feature that turns any webpage into a button or icon. As a site for documenting a child’s childhood and developmental milestones, LifeCubby stands out among a handful of competitors by offering tools and security tailored for day care providers. Child care programs in the United States and abroad (Australia, Singapore, Canada, Pakistan, etc.) are using LifeCubby for sharing class photos, videos, documentation, newsletters and assessments with parents.

For teachers, LifeCubby is a huge saver of both cost and time, said Testaguzza, who has owned child care centers for 20 years. We estimate that the average child care program spends approximately $ 3,600 per year on assessments and paper portfolios, she continued.
