WPML, the WordPress Multilingual Plugin, adds XLIFF interface to streamline translation of WordPress websites and cuts down translation time and cost by 50%.
With the new XLIFF (XML Localisation Interchange File Format) interface, translators use their favorite CAT tools on WordPress sites. Translation agencies and freelance translators can now leverage their existing infrastructure for WordPress.
A typical website contains many small pieces of text. Without having a good translation workflow, translators must spend much of their time copying and pasting content. Translation work becomes costly and prone to human error.
By using their CAT tools, translators can work more efficiently and do the same job in half the time it takes to enter translations directly to the CMS.
As WordPress powers more than 14% of the entire Web and multilingual sites become standard, translation workflow is now critically important.
The new XLIFF interface solves the problem completely. WordPress can now export jobs as XLIFF files. Translators use their CAT tools, translation memory and glossary and translate these files. They dont have to worry about formatting or site structure.
With this new technology, site owners can outsource their translation work to tens of thousands of agencies or freelance translators. Because translators use their familiar tools, they dont need to learn about WordPress.
The new XLIFF module is part of WPML – a plugin that turns WordPress into a multilingual CMS. It works together with WPMLs Translation Management module. Site owners choose what content to translate and to which languages. Their translators receive notification emails with XLIFF attachments, containing the translation jobs. They complete these jobs and upload back to WordPress in one batch. Throughout the process, site admins have complete visibility of the progress. They can see what parts of the site are being translated and whats already complete.
