First Ever Marketplace Built Into WordPress Launches with WooThemes, Gravity Forms, Press75 and More

Halifax, Nova Scotia (PRWEB) May 15, 2012

WP App Store, the integrated WordPress marketplace and delivery platform, launched today with major WordPress theme and plugin vendors as partners. WP App Store is the first ever marketplace to allow purchase and installation of major themes and plugins from within the WordPress dashboard bridging the gap between commercial WordPress products and the central user interface.

The free plugin was created and launched by developer Brad Touesnard to streamline the process of purchasing themes and plugins, and to provide a new venue for developers without a platform of their own to sell their products. WP App Store elegantly combines the multiple steps previously needed to locate, download, upload and activate themes and plugins into one step directly in the WP dashboard.

WP App Store was built as a solution to the challenges I personally faced while trying to build and sell plugins, said Brad Touesnard, creator of WP App Store. There were a number of theme and plugin marketplaces out there, but there was still a huge disconnect between the purchase process and the installation process in the WP dashboard. The commercial WordPress market is growing quickly and WP App Store solves some important problems for both buyers and sellers. We have so many amazing vendors on board and Im very excited for whats to come.

WP App Store is built entirely on the WordPress platform and Touesnard partnered with WP Engine to ensure fast, reliable service. Vendors on WP App Store will also have access to a special API which reports back on purchasers of their products so they can offer better support options and be provided a more robust picture of their audience.

Official advisors to WP App Store include Carl Hancock of rocketgenius, Jason Cohen of WP Engine, and Adii Pienaar of WooThemes. WooThemes was the first vendor to sign on to the project, and partnering vendors now include rocketgenius, Press75 and more.

We were thrilled when Brad brought WP App Store to our door because it solves a tremendous pain point for our 200,000+ users, said Adii Pienaar, co-founder of WooThemes. WP App Store not only closes the gap between the WP dashboard and commercial WP products, it plays a huge part in WooThemes continued focus to provide our users with the most curated experience for building a website. We really believe in what Brad is doing with WP App Store and what it means for the larger WordPress community and building out the WordPress stack.

To get started with WP App Store, upload and install the free plugin. Browse screenshots, demo links and version information on themes and plugins in the store or view purchased products and re-install if needed. Filter and sort themes by category and publisher, and when youre ready to purchase, simply click the large green Buy & Install button to start the process.

In addition to manually installing the free plugin, WP App Store is also partnering with vendors to add a little code to their themes and plugins that will allow a user to install the WP App Store plugin with one click. They are also working on partnerships with several hosting providers to install the WP App Store by default on any new WordPress installations.
