Prince Frederick, MD (Vocus) June 5, 2009
Recorded Books, the largest independent publisher of audiobooks for K-12 schools, is now holding monthly giveaways of audiobooks on CD at the Recorded Books K-12 blog. The giveaway for the month of June is Newbery Medal Winner The Twenty-One Balloons, in celebration of the first hot air balloon flight on June 4, 1783. Any reader who leaves a comment on the blog will be entered to win, and those who blog about the giveaway or tweet a message about it on twitter will be entered a second time. “We know that it’s difficult for some educators to make the leap to try audiobooks,” said Marketing Manager Beth Eaton, “so we want to make it easy for those interested in using audiobooks to experience them.”
The blog also features a growing collection of free lesson plans and audiobook excerpts available for download, including one for The Twenty-One Balloons. “If you’re curious about audiobooks in the classroom or have never listened to one, we encourage you to download a few clips and lesson plans and integrate them into your teaching strategies,” says Eaton. In addition to the monthly giveaways, the Recorded Books blog and twitter feeds feature news about education, literacy, audiobooks, and children’s literature.
