Performancing Announces Performancing for Firefox

Performancing, a new organization dedicated to building the world’s largest community of professional bloggers, today announced the beta version of its new Firefox extension blogging tool, Performancing for Firefox. The tool will be available for testing by Performancing’s growing member base, and is slated for general availability by the end of Q1 2006.

Performancing’s new tool was developed on Firefox’s open source platform. Firefox is a free, cross-platform, graphical web browser developed by the Mozilla Corporation and hundreds of volunteers. The goal of the Firefox project is to develop a lightweight, fast, intuitive and highly extensible standalone browser. Firefox is the most downloaded free and open source application, especially among home users, with more than two million downloads of its latest version within the first 36 hours of its release last month.

Performancing’s new blogging tool will extend Firefox’s functionality even further. Performancing for Firefox provides bloggers with a seamless interface to popular weblog platforms such as WordPress and MovableType. It allows them to post to their blogs from a split screen within the Firefox browser. It also features drag-and-drop functionality for more efficient blogging, enabling bloggers to easily insert text or graphics into their posts, and a “notes” tab that allows bloggers to take notes while building and researching posts.
