On Family Day: Solutions to Help Your Family Keep in Touch

Boston, MA (PRWEB) September 5, 2008

With Family Day just around the corner on Sept. 22, 2008, it’s inevitable that most people will pause and evaluate their family relationships. Whether your family has been good to you or you are like the majority who are struggling to keep in touch, below you’ll find some conventional tips — as well as the not-so-conventional ones, courtesy of the WEB|CMS Squad (http://www.webcmssquad.com) — that will be sure to crank up your Family Day spirit this year.

Experts tell us that getting more family support and involvement in your life should begin at the dinner table. Physiologists who specialize in the inner workings of the human body also say that during a meal, the body’s parasympathetic nervous system is activated, which makes dinner table conversations friendlier and can encourage family members to have a more open dialogue and to bond together stronger.

But another creative solution, I got from Jeff White, a web programmer who specializes in Content Management Systems such as WordPress and Drupal. Jeff says that it does not take a genius to figure out that one of the best solutions to reuniting families is to refresh the connections online.

“Most people don’t have time to connect or talk face to face, because they are busy, but today’s world has already trained us to incorporate the Internet in our daily routines,” says White. “So why not leverage this, and bring the family to the web through a private family website where all family members can log in and update their lives on the web, and find out about the updates, images, and videos that other family members have posted — just a private exclusive corner that is easy to access.”

White and his team, the WEB|CMS Squad, are holding a free webinar this Family Day to demonstrate how anyone can build a family website over a weekend. White clarified that the recent web advances that took place over the past two years make it “a breeze for the average user to build stunning websites” that are not only visually pleasing, but also have all “the bells and whistles that a family website could ask for” — all by clicking and checking boxes. It gets even better: the Squad took care that the platform they present is an ‘open source’ one (read free), and it happens to be the most powerful of its kind on the web today. To join their free webinar, the WEB|CMS Squad has set up a sign-up form available at http://www.webcmssquad.com/familywebsite.html and spots will be assigned on first-come, first-serve basis.

White explains that family websites are a phenomenon that is starting to gain popularity, because people are starting to recognize all the other facets that the Internet can help them improve. Having a powerful family website was not attainable a few years ago without either “extensive expertise or a high budget,” but now even the experts are using these platforms to make their lives easier — and regular people are even more excited about them and are using them for their everyday needs too.
