Friendster Launches All-New Blogs and Forums

Moutain View, CA (PRWEB) December 18, 2008

Friendster, Inc., a top 20 global website based on traffic and the #1 social network in Asia, today announced that the all-new Friendster Blogs and Forums are available to Friendster’s over 90 million members worldwide. Both products have been enhanced with new features and redesigned.

All-new Friendster Blogs

The newly enhanced Friendster Blogs enable members of the Friendster community to quickly and easily create a personal blog. Each blog can be customized with themes and skins available on Friendster today, and thousands more available across the web, or users can create their own style, colors, fonts and page layout using common HTML and CSS web languages. Friendster users can also add a variety of widgets and a personalized badge for their blog right from the design tab of every Friendster blog. Users can also embed into their blog photos directly from their Friendster photo albums and videos from popular video sites such as YouTube.

Friendster Blogs can be utilized in a variety of ways, including sharing thoughts, expressing opinions, sharing photos and videos, keeping a daily diary, writing reviews, displaying items for sale, and more. Users are required to log-in or sign up on Friendster to start a blog.

Friendster blogs are built on WordPress, an Open Source publishing platform used by millions – including many global top-tier news sites and publishers.

All-new Friendster Forums

Friendster’s new Forums allow Friendster users to participate in discussions within a variety of categories including music, sports, lifestyle, celebrities, TV, fashion, health, religion, food, dating, finance and more. Users can join a current discussion or start a new one under a specified category. Posts are organized under each category by most recent. Each post is time stamped and includes a thumbnail photo linked to the Friendster profile of the user, so users can easily meet others in a discussion.

Friendster Forums also include a “star rating system” that allows each user to rate each topic within each category; this makes it even easier to find the best discussions on Friendster. Forums can be accessed by going directly to http://www.friendster.com/forums. Users are required to log-in or sign up on Friendster to post topics. Forums were previously available on Friendster, but only to users in select countries.

“Personal blogging and participating in online discussions on various topics are popular online activities, especially in Asia where the Internet and social networks represent indispensible outlets for self-expression and communication. Millions of our 90 million Friendster users are already using our new Blogs and Forums properties that are part of their favorite social network,” said David Jones, vice president of global marketing at Friendster. “Friendster’s new Blogs and Forums will facilitate communication, sharing and exchange among all Friendster users, and even those not on Friendster yet, as both products are available to non-members for viewing.”
