Real Estate Technology Contests and Start-Ups Featured at Real Estate Connect SF July 13-15, 2010

Inman News’ (http://www.inman.com ) annual San Francisco real estate technology conference, Real Estate Connect, held at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square on July 13-15, 2010, will feature a number of innovative and cutting-edge companies, start-ups, sponsors and speakers focused on the future of technology in real estate.

Real Estate Connect San Francisco will feature two high-profile contests showcasing the best of online real estate innovation. The first contest is the Connect Developer Challenge. This will be the ultimate real estate technology 48-hour hack-a-thon. By the end of Connect SF, a brand new set of web applications will be unveiled. The Connect Developer Challenge brings innovation to Connect in real time, on the big stage, in a way that highlights the companies and people pushing the online real estate envelope. The app that receives the most votes from the audience will win thousands of dollars in advertising space on Inman.com and free passes to Connect 2011.

The second contest is the New Kids on the Block Challenge. Inman News is known for supporting entrepreneurs and giving new companies a platform to launch in front of the most important crowd in real estate. Six young companies (special preference is given to start-ups that launch at Connect) give their pitch in front of real estate leaders who, with the audience, choose a winning company.

Also featured at Real Estate Connect are 21 start-up companies who will be exhibiting in Start-Up Alley. These promising young companies are offering intriguing technologies in the areas of mobile devices, technology, web 2.0, social media and much more.

Flickr Users Dominate the First Month of QOOP Photo Contests for Calendars

QOOP, a leading social commerce community has its fourth set of weekly winners for its free 2011 Photo Contest for Calendars. The 2011 Photo Contest for Calendars offers photographers and artists the opportunity to design and submit new calendars for the weekly contest through the end of January, 2011. The winner will receive ten free copies of her calendar and the honorable mentions will each receive five free copies of their calendars. Mike Richardson, QOOPs Community Organizer, and creator of the new structure to the free 2011 Photo Contest for Calendars, said, Its not surprising that the winners this week are some of the many flickr users who have printed with QOOP for years. Rose, the winner this week said of QOOP, I found out about QOOP on Flickr when looking for a place to print calendars last year as Christmas presents for the family. They were a big hit, so when the calendar contest was announced I thought it would be fun to do it again and make a whole variety this time! Alan Diaz, an amateur digital photographer from Connecticut, who entered his Alans Tractors calendar said, I’ve been doing digital photography since the inception of digital cameras in the late 1990′s. I discovered QOOP back when it was an option on Flickr, where I post my photos. I’ve done a calendar every year as gifts.

New entrants for the ongoing free contest can upload their images directly to QOOP or import from flickr, then create their calendars at QOOP.com.
