The Ivy Mount Guest House Introduces the 5 Top Tips to Beat the Hotel and Bed and Breakfast Recession in the New Year

(PRWEB) December 15, 2010

If you own a hotel bed and breakfast that is struggling to keep afloat, there are some quick and easy steps to pull you and your business through the New Year (2011). These steps can possibly even earn you more money in the process. They can get more customers through the door, plus establish more regular clients; try the five steps and become a success.

The Ivy Mount Guest House (http://ivymountguesthouse.com/) in Manchester England has implemented these five steps and its turned the business around in a matter of months.

The best thing about it is that some of the steps are free (eg: TripAdvisor/ raising prices)

Step 1 is the most important step of all: your website is like your shop window- you are displaying what you have to sell. You should spend the most time on this step and make your website as personal as possible. Dont just let some web designer who has not even been to your business or does not know the area you are based in do all the work.

Put some personal touches in, be proud of your website.

Regarding the online booking agents, only use them until you get on your feet and the bookings start flooding in from your website. The commission fees can be expensive, but dont forget, a full room is better than an empty one.

The event days tab is a great way of getting some extra revenue. “In my B&B when Manchester United are playing or there is a concert in Manchester, I slowly realised I was one of the only people who were not putting the prices up,” said Paul Carroll. “The demand was so great that I was turning away around 30 to 40 people on these days. All you have to do is increase your prices on these days by 15% or 20% and reap the benefits.”

And finally, join TripAdvisor, the largest free online review and travel website in the world. “I could talk about this for hours- about reviews, displaying, answering reviews, displaying the sign on the website, etc,” said Carroll.

The 5 steps are;

1. Get a web site

2. Join TripAdvisor

3. Join some booking agents (laterooms.com; booking.com)

4. Change prices on event days

5. Get a “book now” tab on your web site

Speaking about the five steps, leading expert Paul Carroll said, I have been in this business all my life, and the changes over the last few years have been so dramatic. Only a year or so ago, you used to wait for the phone to ring, or a knock at the door for bookings. Now its all faxes, emails, texts, etc. It’s all mostly computer generated, but by trying my five steps on your business, you can watch the changes happen over night.

Online Hotel Management Software Company Announces Integration with Popular WordPress Content Publishing Platform

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 31, 2012

Online web-based hotel management software firm announced today the integration of its website booking engine, OBOE to WordPress, a popular software used by hotels for their websites. The integration makes it possible for any webmaster using WordPress to easily add a booking calendar and promotion code box to their site.

According to their website, WordPress is used by 22% of all new websites is the most popular content management system, or CMS on the internet. Their site also states it has been downloaded over 65 million times. It was originally built to be a platform for bloggers to post and syndicate their content. Today, WordPress can be easily customized to meet many needs including news sites, mobile sites and hotel sites.

The innovative technology allows clients to install a booking link on any blog or website created using WordPress or other content management systems. Supporting both embedded booking pages and stand-alone pages, the company is confident its customers are going to see huge benefits. “We are the first online hotel manage software system to offer this kind of native WordPress integration” Co-founder Thomas Lyle said.

Its important to make booking a room a quick and easy process and thats exactly what this does. The joy for our clients is that its not only making life easier for their customers, its extremely simple for them too. Co-founder Thomas Lyle said: This is another example of how we are making it easier for our clients to improve the online experience for their customers.

For potential guests, when they visit the site they will be able to pick stay dates and enter promotional codes from any page before being taken to the booking page. “It’s extremely important that the booking call to action be at top of mind when the guest is ready to book. This means, making the action button clearly available on every page and easy to use”.

Currently, the plug-in is available for WordPress and soon as a stand alone widget for non-WordPress sites. Integrations to other content management and blog publishing platforms such as Drupal and Joomla will be supported soon.
