Binserver Introduces "TipIt"(beta) Voluntary Micro-Payment and Advertising System that Creates One-Click RSS Delivered Functionality for blogs and Other Digital Content

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) January 25, 2006

Binserver [http://www.binserver.com is in the business of mining unbundled media – a trend toward the elimination of middlemen – such as but not limited to websites, networks, publishers and record labels. The company believes voluntary micro-payments are an incremental step in the creation of sustainable systems for free and unbundled content on the web and elsewhere.

While the web is leading a charge toward unbundled media its catching on in other mediums such as TV where content has been inextricably shackled to networks. According to the CEO, John Bransford, the future is in distribution that unties digital content while still retaining all the allowable rights of ownership including compensation. They believe all forms of digital content will be unbundled – including video.

“I sat on a blue ribbon committee at HBO that was charged with predicting when video on demand would be reality and how to capitalize rather than impeding adoption. HBO has largely implemented our recommendations and, to me, a perfect example of how these companies should prepare for an unbundled media world.”

“Grasping the details of unbundled content is important to fully understanding our plans,” says Bransford. Terry Heaton, a respected media analyst, as a body of research and work in the area. His is to date the best analysis of unbundled media some of which can be found here http://donatacom.com/papers/pomo48.htm.

They started with http://www.Nashvilesnews.net intending to offer citizens generated content. Bransford says, “we worked for nearly a year trying to create an RSS based CMS for automatically formatting and publishing user generated material. That project had some success however things did not gel until we found Marcin Konicki a crack RSS developer who had been working on a similar system.”

“Marcin is the best hands on RSS guy going” says Bransford. “One time I was having a devil of a time trying to subscribe to the CNN headline news podcast. Marcin diagnosed the problem and CNN made the changes. Now it works.”

The second part of our approach to unbundled media is manifest in TipIt. We think content has to be compensated and its in everyones interest to create multiple pathways to that end. Tipit is a simple concept thats yet to be properly engaged. To get a fast idea go to a demo here http://TipIt.ws or here http://nashvillesnews.net/node/54594 then mouse over the TipIt icon.

Its different from the standard Pay Pal tip jar. TipIt is not bound to a website and allows an unlimited number of content owners to be aggregated on a site but paid directly. The usual tip jar forces all payment to the website which is not feasible in a world where the publisher doesnt know and doesnt want to deal with tracking every site that might subscribe to his feed. The TipIt, when enabled by the content producers, can stay with the content wherever it is fed using RSS 2.0. Content publishers can find more information on the companys information site http://www.TipIt.ws and blog tipit.wordpress.com .

The next iteration will be what they call the Info TipIt. An appreciative reader can pay the writer without spending money by using the TipIt to view an ad. Again they mouse over to read an ad and the action is recorded – i.e. that they did it and the content is reimbursed. “From an advertisers perspective it promotes a cost per desired action achieved for which they are willing to pay a premium. The content gets compensated and the website receives promotion from our main site if they want.”

ChroniChronicnews Unbundles Blog Content with One-Click Micro-Payments System

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) May 22, 2006

The company developed an RSS based publishing system that knits together various content types. It started with http://www.NashvilleSnews.net and now has 12 fully working news and blog aggregation systems. An overview of the network can be seen on the main site. http://chronicnews.com/sites_view

John Bransford, a company spokesman, says part of our approach to unbundled media is manifest in Tipit. We think content has to be compensated and its in everyones interest to create multiple pathways to that end. Tipit is a simple concept thats yet to be properly engaged. To get a fast overview see the demo on the Tipit site.

Its different from the standard Pay Pal tip jar. TipIt is not bound to a website and allows an unlimited number of content owners to be aggregated on a site but paid directly. The usual tip jar forces all payment to the website which is not feasible in a world where the writer doesnt know and doesnt want to deal with tracking every site that might subscribe to his feed. The TipIt, when enabled by the writer, can stay with the content wherever it is fed using RSS 2.0.

This post explains it. http://pontiff.wordpress.com/2006/05/18/unbundled-content-for-real/

Bransford says that next iteration was enabling all the bloggers to administer their RSS feeds. We got it working last week. Now the writers can login and add a logo, change the way the feed is formatted, add descriptions and more. The idea is that the bloggers have realized that RSS/ATOM formatting is important and need to feel comfortable with the presentation. They can always ask us to change something but if we arent fast enough they can do it themselves.

Our guiding principle is that these bloggers need to be paid in order to sustain the ecosystem of great content on the web. Were providing them all the tools we can to make that happen. Its where the blogosphere has been going but presently its available to relatively few bloggers.

Later this month they will unveil a system providing the option to inject text ads. When the reader clicks on the read more link they find the full article or landing page with as much content as the blogger wants them to have. The landing page may at their option have some text ads and be paid per click or per view. All this is administrated by their Web interface which will be unveiling on Wednesday.

t5m Launches Content Studio, Syndication Network and Sponsorship Agency for Branded Entertainment

London, UK (PRWEB) December 21, 2008

Today, t5m (The 5th Medium Ltd – http://www.t5m.com) announced the launch of its London-based content studio which co-produces interview-based, factual entertainment content in partnership with events, celebrities, charities, venues and brands. t5m’s studio focuses on producing exclusive in-depth profiles with world famous personalities, and backstage ‘beyond the red carpet’ interviews at some of the biggest events in the UK. Unlike traditional production businesses focused on the ‘one-to-many’ world of broadcast, t5m specialises in producing and syndicating short-form interactive HD content of 3-5 minutes in length, edited specifically for Internet viewing. t5m works closely with brand sponsors during production to ensure they engage their target audience, convert that interest into leads and then have visibility of the results across its global network of syndication partners.

Helen Farrier, European PR Manager, Samsung Electronics Europe comments:

“t5m did a fantastic job at our recent Samsung Pink Ribbon Ball. Our goal was to come away from the event with some content of lasting value, which captured the excitement of the night while raising awareness for the important work that Samsung is doing for breast cancer awareness. t5m helped us achieve this goal and we look forward to working with them again in the future.”

With a worsening economic climate and broad adoption of digital video recorders, traditional TV advertising is facing a significant challenge. Budgets are now being cut, but brands must still fight to win customers in competitive global markets. Brands and their agencies are looking for new cost effective ways to understand their users, engage them, and convert their interest into sales with a clear and measureable return on investment. The explosion in time spent watching video on the Internet and the sheer number of sites supporting video presents new ways to achieve this. Online branded entertainment (or ad-funded content) allows brands to target their audience by the kind of content they watch rather than where they watch it. The content is distributed with a brand’s logo in the title sequence, and in some cases adjacent ad-units. It can extend to include deeper brand integration such as product placement and tagging of the content so viewers can interact with it by clicking on it.

t5m content studio offers brands a ‘one stop shop’ to create professionally produced HD content optimised specifically for the web; a new way to convert viewers into brand advocates. t5m has already produced over 300 hours of video content, including 100 in-depth profiles and over 20 events, already making it one of the leading UK providers of branded entertainment on the web. t5m’s customised syndication service enables its content to reach millions of users, both online and on broadcast TV. It includes YouTube and many of the largest sites and networks – further details of these will be made available in future announcements.

Charlie Muirhead, Founder and CEO, comments, “t5m works closely with brands like Samsung to carefully develop the narrative for the content right from the onset of production. We then ensure branded five-second title bumpers and a 20 second post roll, with a call to action to engage users. In February, the new version of our video player will allow viewers to click directly on the content to enter competitions, buy products that are featured, or bookmark products on t5m.com to access later.”

t5m’s content studio goes beyond just content. Brands benefit from a complete turnkey solution that includes everything from booking talent and presenters to building customised video platforms for a client:

Dynamic Page Solutions Introduces its Newest Real Estate Technology: IDX Fusion - An Algorithm-Smart, Indexable IDX Solution powered by MLS Content

Mesa, AZ (PRWEB) April 20, 2010

Dynamic Page Solutions, a leader in real estate technology development, announces the release of its latest product, IDX Fusion. The IDX solution makes it possible for real estate agents to keep their existing websites or blog, yet take advantage of a vastly broader spectrum of real estate targeted keywords. This system appends a powerful content management system (CMS) that can effectively increase traffic through the auto-creation of hundreds or thousands of topically themed, optimized web pages.

MLS database content is typically hidden within I-frames which search engines see as third party content. This leaves the owner of the site at a severe disadvantage for providing relevant real estate content for the search engines. Website and blog owners that use an I-framed IDX system must drive traffic by developing highly authoritative web pages that typically target a limited number of highly competitive keywords. The fully crawlable IDX Fusion solution automatically generates pages from MLS listings content and is optimized to cover a large array of focused keywords.

IDX Fusion can be appended to an existing root domain as a subdomain and blends seamlessly with the appearance of the existing web pages. We are experiencing very encouraging results by appending our solution to sites that are not currently using our spiderable IDX technology. Low performing sites can see a significant increase in traffic and it also works well for sites that win on high traffic keywords but miss the other 70-80% of the traffic that originates from long tail queries stated Larry Toppenberg, CEO of Dynamic Page Solutions.

In this market, there are agents that have spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of man hours customizing their site only to find that the content management system is incapable of using the power contained in MLS listings. Users will be pleased to know that IDX Fusion offers a solution to Internet visibility that is not dependent upon the core site. While the MLS Enhancer content management system offers optimal integration of MLS database content, the appended IDX Fusion solution or custom integration of the CMS extends tremendous traffic value to existing sites.

The automated process of optimizing listing data and presenting the property features in themed clusters creates unparalleled opportunities for pages to match search engine user queries with precision. Supplying exact matches for thousands of potential searches is what drives users of this technology to the first page of Google for thousands of terms. The power is in the aggregate number of pages that target less competitive keywords. The search engines are given numerous doorways that offer matches for real estate queries not just a few which is typical of real estate sites on the web.

Real estate is one of the most competitive verticals on the web. Now agents have three powerful choices when it comes to incorporating optimized MLS database content with personalized web platforms. IDX solutions that are fully search engine friendly and present the content in themed categories are the key to Internet visibility. Beginner agents to seasoned real estate Internet marketing professionals can benefit from the opportunity presented in the long tail of real estate search. Dynamic Page Solutions has been providing fully spiderable, auto-optimized real estate IDX solutions since 2004.

Real estate agents select Dynamic Page Solutions as their website and IDX provider because of the innovative use of MLS database content to create comprehensive keyword nets that win real estate traffic. Located in Mesa, Arizona, Dynamic Page Solutions has the capacity to sell and support their services nationwide. For more information on IDX solutions and real estate websites visit http://www.dynamicpagesolutions.com or telephone (480) 839-0016.

10 Easy Ways to Keep Web Site Content Fresh

Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) May 11, 2007

Alli Denning, owner of denning e-solutions, LLC, a web design and search engine optimization company, offers 10 tips for adding valuable content to a web site. Content freshness is critical to a web site’s success, yet it is often ignored as site owners perceive the job is done when the site is launched. However, a web site not a one time project that gets checked off a to-do list; it is an iterative process that needs ongoing attention to maximize success.

Search engines love content and the only thing they love more than content is new content. They reward sites that regularly update their content with higher rankings. Users love sites with regularly updated content and respond by visiting those sites more often. There is only upside here. So, give them what they want.

Here are ten great tips and ideas about ways to make regular (and easy) updates to a web site.

1. News Column – Feature news items in a news column on the site’s home page with items that include new product/service announcements, new contracts secured, new hires, internal promotions, notice of new web site content, announcement of awards or certifications received, and notice of newsletter posted or sent. Best of all, these updates can be very fast as they can be just a few words/lines of text that link into the relevant page of the site.

2. Portfolio of Projects – Showcase completed projects with an online portfolio section. An online portfolio also helps in subsequent marketing efforts as potential customers can be guided through this area during the sales process with the portfolio serving as an excellent visual aid.

3. Blog – A blog can be a great way to stay in close contact with site users. A blog can added to a web site for little or no cost – try this link to learn more: http://wordpress.org.

4. FAQ Section – Businesses are asked the same types of questions by customers and potential customers over and over again. Write out answers to those questions and update the list regularly as new issues arise.

5. How-Tos – People are online looking for information and solutions to the issues they face. By writing how-tos that provide solutions to users’ problems, the site provides valuable information to users while establishing the company/site as the expert in the field. (see this article as an example)

6. Before & After Stories – What is better than a before and after story? People love them. They can be a very effective and interesting way of demonstrating in concrete terms the benefits of a product or service.

7. Case Studies – Case studies are the perfect way to feature business successes. State the challenge faced and detail the solution provided. Like the online portfolio, these case studies become an effective sales tool in acquiring future business.

8. Monthly Newsletter – Many businesses write some type of regular newsletter to their customers already. Make sure that the newsletter gets added to the site regularly and that an archive of past issues is maintained. Newsletter communicate important information while maintaining regular customer/client contact.

9. Statistics Related to Your Business – Statistics are interesting and people like them. They make the site’s business or industry more real to its customers and highlight the importance of its products or services.

10. Customer Stories – These can add a concrete and personal touch to the site’s information about its services /products. Simply feature a customer, interviewing them about their use of the site’s service or product and its impact on them. This idea has the added benefit of contributing to great customer relations.

Making it Happen

The best way to ensure that these content-building ideas get past the idea stage is to assign it to someone – make it a line item in their job description about which they must regularly report. Finally, set concrete goals for content delivery, such as one new piece every week. Remember, the search engines (and site users) love new content so keep it fresh!

e107 Content Management System (CMS) Gets New Branding and Release

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) December 29, 2011

For the past 9 years the open-source CMS e107 has been mostly a hobby project of a few dedicated PHP developers. Despite its lack of funding or marketing over that time, e107 has continued to be a favorite CMS for the 150,000+ people and companies who use it. e107′s strength lies in it’s simple, intuitive interface and flexible architecture which allows the system to perform well on anything from blogs and personal websites to business sites and intranets.

“For many years e107 lacked some of the ‘eye-candy’ of other content management systems such as WordPress or Joomla.”, says Cameron Hanly, CEO of e107 Inc. “It was like a powerful engine in the body of an old-looking car and we believe some may have overlooked the potential of our CMS as a result.”

Now e107 Inc. hopes to change that with its new website design, new branding and a new release of its software – v1.0.

WNET.ORG and Tierra Innovation Unveil Content Management System Offering Elegant Website Publishing Solution

New York, NY (PRWEB) July 22, 2009

WNET.ORG, the public media provider in New York, and Tierra Innovation, a leading New York City digital firm, have developed a new content management system (CMS) that enables WNET.ORG – or any other non-profit media organization – to create high-quality websites more easily, more rapidly and more economically than ever before. The new CMS, built on the user-friendly WordPress Multi-User (WPMU) platform, provides an elegant “plug and play” solution that streamlines the process of designing and launching websites, freeing up critical resources and enhancing the institution’s ability to reach public media consumers with digital content.

“With the web playing an increasingly prominent role in public media, we found ourselves looking for a way to launch websites in a more efficient and cost-effective way,” said Dan Goldman, Executive Director of Corporate Finance at WNET.ORG, the parent company of public broadcasters THIRTEEN and WLIW21. “With our limited resources, we realized we needed a universal CMS that would enable us to avoid building each site from scratch. Working with Tierra Innovation and the WordPress platform, we developed a solution that has dramatically increased our publishing efficiency and flexibility while considerably lowering our relative web production costs.”

“Our challenge was to migrate years of web content into a single, open-source system that could support WNET.ORG’s diverse initiatives at a low cost and with low technical hurdles for its content producers,” said Jamie Trowbridge, President of Tierra Innovation. “We collaborated with WNET.ORG on both design and technology to create unified, extensible website templates and a new publishing system based on the WordPress platform. Since implementing the new CMS, WNET.ORG has launched dozens of websites that required significantly less production time and resources but delivered more web traffic than previous WNET.ORG sites.”

“The work that WNET.ORG and Tierra have done with WordPress is truly impressive and showcases the power, flexibility and potential of the WordPress platform,” said Raanan Bar-Cohen, Vice President, Automattic, Inc. / WordPress. “By building a CMS on top of WordPress, Tierra and WNET.ORG successfully launched numerous high-traffic sites that provide a great user experience as well as editorial and creative flexibility.”

“The wonderful thing about this solution is that it’s as easy to use as the popular WordPress blogging software,” said Goldman. “That ease of use allows people from all over our company – broadcast producers, for example – to contribute content on a daily basis without specialized technical knowledge. And it’s flexible enough to serve the entire range of websites we manage – from sites that accompany broadcast series to corporate information pages.”

Since its implementation, the new CMS has enabled WNET.ORG to increase its capacity to launch and maintain websites by as much as 700%. The company has also reduced website launch lead times dramatically – from 6-12 weeks to 1-3 weeks. Since bringing the new CMS online, site traffic has increased by an average of over 100%. The CMS also provides for increased audience engagement through social media features that allow users to dialogue and build communities.

WNET.ORG will make its customized, open-source CMS publicly available and invites all non-profit arts, media and cultural organizations with similar online publishing needs to adopt and further develop their own content delivery networks.

“We believe that this newly created and proven CMS can contribute to advancing broader institutional strategies of non-profits, and help enable media companies, in particular, to maintain a competitive edge with respect to the commercial counterparts,” said Goldman. “This investment is paying off for us and we’d be delighted to share it with other organizations with similar missions and challenges.”

WNET.ORG and Tierra have published a white paper detailing their experience implementing the CMS, which is available for download at: WordPress Publisher’s blog and at Tierra Innovation’s blog.

About WNET.ORG

Open Source Content Management Systems Offer Wider Range of Functionality for Horton Group Clients

Nashville, Tenn. (PRWEB) July 04, 2012

Open source refers to software that it is distributed freely and additionally offers access to the products design – essentially opening the source code to collaboration and further ingenuity from outside developers. Horton has taken note of the growing popularity of this type of web development software and has embraced open source CMS as valuable resources for offering clients better marketing and advertising tools.

A community of developers working together to add more utility into a content management system leads to the creation of invaluable tools for businesses and organizations seeking to build a better online presence. On top of providing clients with a means to manage their own content Horton Group also gives clients access to website management tools that are constantly improving. Open source software allows websites the potential to always change and evolve along with a growing library of programming technology.

The majority of Horton Group websites are developed on Drupal, one of the most popular CMS platforms available. With one of the largest and most dedicated online development communities, a few of the websites built on Drupal include big brands like Twitter and Nike. Even the website for The Whitehouse – the executive branch of the United States government – is built on the Drupal platform. Horton Group also uses WordPress as one of their main development platforms because of its simplicity and user friendly interface. Horton Group believes the employment of basic but innovative open source CMS helps clients keep content fresh and relevant – websites become less static and more interactive.

A recent article posted to business2community.com states that more businesses will increasingly begin to adopt open source content management software because of the multiple benefits it offers. However, Horton Group prefers the use of open source content management systems for more reasons than their widespread popularity. Open source software is great because it allows us to offer a variety of options, but also promotes a strong knit development community that in the end will ultimately benefit the client, notes Horton Group Lead Developer Matt Smith. Most open source content management systems like Drupal are free, which allow us to pass bigger savings onto our customers. This gives us the capability to offer clients more diverse programming options at lower costs.

New Plugin to Publish content directly from WordPress to MailChimp

(PRWEB) May 10, 2011

MailChimp today announced the release of a new WordPress plugin that greatly simplifies the publishing process for WordPress blogs, making it possible to push content directly into a MailChimp campaign, all from within the WordPress dashboard. The plugin also makes it possible to publish MailChimp campaigns in the WordPress blog, either as individual landing pages or in blog posts.

Writing great stories is hard enough, commented Neil Bainton, MailChimp COO. Once the content is created, we wanted to make it really easy to transfer it from WordPress to MailChimp or the other way around. With so many subscribers using both platforms, we wanted to support whichever work flow works best.

This plugin was developed by Freakedout.de and can be downloaded from the WordPress directory here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/chimpexpress/

MailChimp now offers four WordPress plugins: Subscriber plugin, Analytics360, ChimpExpress, and MailChimp-STS.

The ChimpExpress plugin has two modes: publishing from WordPress to MailChimp and bringing content from MailChimp into WordPress. When publishing from WordPress to MailChimp, the author first selects an existing template in his/her MailChimp account. The WordPress plugin is aware of the content blocks in the template and allows the author to add new content into each section. The author can either choose to write new content in the WordPress editor and/or republish a blog post. Once the campaign is completed, the content is automatically posted to the users MailChimp account and a preview is provided of the final campaign. The MailChimp user would then log into his/her account to schedule the sendin time.

Alternatively, the WordPress author can bring in content from an existing MailChimp campaign as a blog post and edit the content in the WordPress editor before publishing. Finally, the plugin makes it easy to create a stand alone landing page of the MailChimp campaign. The plugin removes email specific information such as unsubscribe links and allows the user to edit the content and the page name. Then it publishes it to a new page in the blog. This is a perfect way for folks to create content in MailChimp and maintain a permanent web page with their own domain.

About MailChimp

MailChimp provides email marketing and publishing features that are easy and affordable enough for a small business to get started, but powerful enough for a large company looking for an enterprise level solution. The platform supports more than 750,000 subscribers worldwide, sending over 1.5 billion emails per month. MailChimp integrates with many third party applications including Facebook, Twitter, Eventbrite, SurveyGizmo, Salesforce, WordPress, Magento, Joomla, Drupal and Google Analytics. And best of all, prices start at free.
