Binserver Introduces "TipIt"(beta) Voluntary Micro-Payment and Advertising System that Creates One-Click RSS Delivered Functionality for blogs and Other Digital Content

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) January 25, 2006

Binserver [http://www.binserver.com is in the business of mining unbundled media – a trend toward the elimination of middlemen – such as but not limited to websites, networks, publishers and record labels. The company believes voluntary micro-payments are an incremental step in the creation of sustainable systems for free and unbundled content on the web and elsewhere.

While the web is leading a charge toward unbundled media its catching on in other mediums such as TV where content has been inextricably shackled to networks. According to the CEO, John Bransford, the future is in distribution that unties digital content while still retaining all the allowable rights of ownership including compensation. They believe all forms of digital content will be unbundled – including video.

“I sat on a blue ribbon committee at HBO that was charged with predicting when video on demand would be reality and how to capitalize rather than impeding adoption. HBO has largely implemented our recommendations and, to me, a perfect example of how these companies should prepare for an unbundled media world.”

“Grasping the details of unbundled content is important to fully understanding our plans,” says Bransford. Terry Heaton, a respected media analyst, as a body of research and work in the area. His is to date the best analysis of unbundled media some of which can be found here http://donatacom.com/papers/pomo48.htm.

They started with http://www.Nashvilesnews.net intending to offer citizens generated content. Bransford says, “we worked for nearly a year trying to create an RSS based CMS for automatically formatting and publishing user generated material. That project had some success however things did not gel until we found Marcin Konicki a crack RSS developer who had been working on a similar system.”

“Marcin is the best hands on RSS guy going” says Bransford. “One time I was having a devil of a time trying to subscribe to the CNN headline news podcast. Marcin diagnosed the problem and CNN made the changes. Now it works.”

The second part of our approach to unbundled media is manifest in TipIt. We think content has to be compensated and its in everyones interest to create multiple pathways to that end. Tipit is a simple concept thats yet to be properly engaged. To get a fast idea go to a demo here http://TipIt.ws or here http://nashvillesnews.net/node/54594 then mouse over the TipIt icon.

Its different from the standard Pay Pal tip jar. TipIt is not bound to a website and allows an unlimited number of content owners to be aggregated on a site but paid directly. The usual tip jar forces all payment to the website which is not feasible in a world where the publisher doesnt know and doesnt want to deal with tracking every site that might subscribe to his feed. The TipIt, when enabled by the content producers, can stay with the content wherever it is fed using RSS 2.0. Content publishers can find more information on the companys information site http://www.TipIt.ws and blog tipit.wordpress.com .

The next iteration will be what they call the Info TipIt. An appreciative reader can pay the writer without spending money by using the TipIt to view an ad. Again they mouse over to read an ad and the action is recorded – i.e. that they did it and the content is reimbursed. “From an advertisers perspective it promotes a cost per desired action achieved for which they are willing to pay a premium. The content gets compensated and the website receives promotion from our main site if they want.”

Open Source Content Management Systems Offer Wider Range of Functionality for Horton Group Clients

Nashville, Tenn. (PRWEB) July 04, 2012

Open source refers to software that it is distributed freely and additionally offers access to the products design – essentially opening the source code to collaboration and further ingenuity from outside developers. Horton has taken note of the growing popularity of this type of web development software and has embraced open source CMS as valuable resources for offering clients better marketing and advertising tools.

A community of developers working together to add more utility into a content management system leads to the creation of invaluable tools for businesses and organizations seeking to build a better online presence. On top of providing clients with a means to manage their own content Horton Group also gives clients access to website management tools that are constantly improving. Open source software allows websites the potential to always change and evolve along with a growing library of programming technology.

The majority of Horton Group websites are developed on Drupal, one of the most popular CMS platforms available. With one of the largest and most dedicated online development communities, a few of the websites built on Drupal include big brands like Twitter and Nike. Even the website for The Whitehouse – the executive branch of the United States government – is built on the Drupal platform. Horton Group also uses WordPress as one of their main development platforms because of its simplicity and user friendly interface. Horton Group believes the employment of basic but innovative open source CMS helps clients keep content fresh and relevant – websites become less static and more interactive.

A recent article posted to business2community.com states that more businesses will increasingly begin to adopt open source content management software because of the multiple benefits it offers. However, Horton Group prefers the use of open source content management systems for more reasons than their widespread popularity. Open source software is great because it allows us to offer a variety of options, but also promotes a strong knit development community that in the end will ultimately benefit the client, notes Horton Group Lead Developer Matt Smith. Most open source content management systems like Drupal are free, which allow us to pass bigger savings onto our customers. This gives us the capability to offer clients more diverse programming options at lower costs.

Atlanta, Ga (PRWEB) September 15, 2011

WordPress Hosting Reviews website was started to help consumers find the best hosting for their WordPress blogs. Hosting is an expanding field, so WordPress Hosting Reviews works hard to stay up to date. They are pleased to announce the next step in this evolution, the redesign of http://wphostingreviews.com This redesign and relaunch has new implemented functionality, improved usability, and enhanced performance designed to decrease page load times.

New Features and Site Improvements:

Hosting Categories — With categories its easy to narrow down the search to just one type of hosting. The categories display all WordPress hosts that are part of that category. Now visitors can go the WordPress Hosting Review Directory, browse around the site and always have a clear list of types of hosting on the right column.

Improved Review Listing Pages — The hosting company review pages have been redesigned, moving the most important elements to the top of the page. This change makes the information more accessible and easier to find. In addition to page layout changes, a cleaner, more refined layout has been applied to the entire site. Visit the HostGator Review to get a first hand look at their redesigned page layout.

Social Network Integration — All host reviews and guides now have social sharing buttons, making it even easier to share reviews and guides with friends. These buttons include the Twitter Tweet, Facebook Like and Google +1.

Speed Improvements — In addition to the improved user functionality, much of the code has been updated to decrease page load times. The end user will not see any of these updates but will notice pages loading consistently faster. The changes include the combination and minifying of CSS / Javascript files and the addition of a Content Delivery Network (CDN) for faster image delivery. Also, moving their hosting to a WordPress specific hosting provider has increased the speed of server response times.

Steven Johnson, site redesign coordinator, was quoted saying: We are very pleased with our most recent version of WordPress Hosting Reviews. We have utilized the latest versions WordPress and MyReviewPlugin. These tools have really improved the quality of the site. WordPress Hosting Reviews Selects MyReviewPlugin For Review Functionality

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 13, 2012

http://wphostingreviews.com selected MyReviewPlugin as their review managment software. MyReviewPlugin was the best choice to meet all of our design and functionality requirements. Said Steven Johnson, website developer at WordPress Hosting Reviews.

MyReviewPlugin simplifies the process of managing both editor and customer reviews along with creating site-specific custom fields. It adds a section beneath each product listing where a editor or customer can leave their review. This is entered into a database and recalled throughout the website.

Steven said, Since its inception, we knew WordPress Hosting Reviews would require a plugin with many features and functionality. Most WordPress review plugins were too cumbersome to work with. We were looking for an all-in-one review solution. MyReviewPlugin worked like a charm.

WordPress Hosting Reviews custom designed their Editor Top Picks chart to match the rest of their website. With a whole site redesign, blending the charts was a crucial part of design and usability.

With how easy it has become for individuals to publish content, user reviews and social features are the only way to ensure authenticity around the web. Historically, companies have been investigated by journalists, governments or other consumer action groups for being deceptive in their marketing. This worked before the Internet, but as the economy grows faster and faster due to fast paced info-tech age, we are going to find the need for more and more systems for dealing with deception like user reviews and social graphs. says lead developer of MyReviewPlugin, Mark Edwards. Websites that act as an honest, fair platform for users to express their opinions, such as WordPress Hosting Reviews serve a real economic purpose in leveling the playing field between big business and small customers.

About MyReviewPlugin — MyReviewPlugin, a WordPress plugin developed and maintained by Mark Edwards provides rating and review functionality to WordPress users. It turns a traditional content platform in to a full-featured review site, complete with user reviews, comparison tables, and more. WordPress Hosting Reviews uses MyReviewPlugin to increase user interaction, and create a more social atmosphere.

Which Reigns Supreme in Graphic Design: Functionality or Design?

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) May 30, 2012

This week’s poll on GraphicDesign.com takes readers inside the mind of one of the top WordPress theme developers on the planet, ElegantThemes.com founder and designer Nick Roach. The site is one of the largest distributors of WordPress themes in existence and its head honcho, Roach, has taken the position that design should outweigh functionality when creating themes.

“I feel it’s more about design as opposed to functionality,” Roach told GraphicDesign.com in one of his first public interviews. “Trying to reduce the functionality down to the minimum and focusing on an elegant design are important We want to think about usability. While our main focus is simplicity, a lot of our competitors try to pack as much functionality in as possible and it’s cluttered. It’s all about simplicity and keeping things open.”

Roach has responded to customers that have called for additional ad spots and other distractions in his designs. His retort: “I actually have talked with customers who send me e-mails with complaints asking why there’s so much empty space in the header. They say they can fit two banners in there and I have to tell them that you don’t want to smash as many things in as possible because it’ll add confusion.”

Again, simplicity reigns supreme according to Roach. He added that color, subtlety, and pixel perfect details make any WordPress theme he develops graphically pleasing. As Roach put it, “Modesty is a huge deal for me personally Flashy as a personal trait and flashy in design do not appeal to me.”

Roach’s business model centers on selling access to WordPress themes on a subscription basis to consumers and developers. Both options include access to all of the nearly 100 themes ElegantThemes.com has produced, free theme updates, and technical support. The subscription geared toward developers also includes access to Photoshop files.

What business model do readers of GraphicDesign.com prefer: subscription or a la carte? At the end of Roach’s interview, readers are asked that very question, the results of which will be published next week.

Finally, the general public is increasingly turning to iPhones, iPads, Android devices, and the like to view content, so it’s up to ElegantThemes.com and graphic designers everywhere to produce high-quality experiences for mobile users. Enter “responsive” themes, in which the design itself changes based on screen size.

Roach emphasized, “The way we browse the internet is changing a lot. Smartphones and tablets are being introduced. Creating themes that change and adapt depending on the device is really important.”

Visit GraphicDesign.com for the full interview with ElegantThemes.com founder and designer Nick Roach. And don’t forget to weigh in on the questions at the end of the article. Both the article and poll can be found HERE.
