Five Signs It"s Time to Change A Company"s Pricing Strategy: Insulate a Company"s Profits During a Market Downturn

Concord, Mass. (PRWEB) January 25, 2008

Dr. Reed Holden, Founder of Holden Advisors, released today five signs that it’s time to change a company’s pricing strategy. The warning signs and how to change a pricing strategy are described in detail in Pricing with Confidence: 10 Ways to Stop Leaving Money on the Table, Holden’s new book, co-written with Mark Burton.

Holden outlines the following indicators that a company’s market has changed:

Unit sales volume growth slows down
Discounts fail to drive incremental volume
Competitors introduce new offerings
Lower-cost competitors enter the market
Competitors start missing their numbers

“With the recent news of the recession, moves by the Federal Reserve, and global markets on a downslide, most companies are going to be too slow to act. The mistake most companies make is that they believe that a pricing strategy is static,” states Mark Burton, co-author of Pricing with Confidence and co-founder of Holden Advisors. “The real challenge is to recognize when the market is changing and to change your strategy accordingly.”

“With the heat of a recession upon us, a company should focus on rethinking their financial goals, rather than use price, because production levels are not aligned with market demand,” warns Holden. “For example, Ford Motors recently announced a reduction in their production. During a downturn, they have traditionally kept building cars and pushing them out to dealers who would rely on massive price discounts to chase a shrinking base of consumers who wanted new cars. For the first time in a long time, they have decided to reduce production to match the shrinking demand. It’s been reported in the press that they are the only one of the six biggest carmakers that did not increase price incentives in December. This is the right kind of thinking for financial health in the long run.”

“If you have answered yes to one or more of the five indicators mentioned above,” continues Holden, “there are several points you need to consider in choosing the right path for your company.” These include:

1) Hold off on increasing the discounting of your best and most differentiated offerings. That action often results in destructive price erosion when demand is slowing. Instead:

2) Consider offering flanking products – Flanking products, or lower-value versions of products, help create a competitive offering, while insulating your most differentiated offering and thus the price.

3) Invest in niche marketing – Gaining knowledge of the needs of various customer types helps you go after the most profitable customers with the right solutions.

4) Understand Competitive dynamics – Make sure you understand how your competitors will respond to the changes you make in your customer pricing and be ready.

YOKU Cloud Hosting looks to change the dedicated hosting market one cloud at a time.

New York, New York (PRWEB) October 17, 2012

Yoku Cloud Hosting (http://www.yokuhosting.com) opens its doors and is looking to help businesses convert traditional in-house hardware or dedicated servers into lower cost Yoku Cloud servers with little to no downtime using live migrations. Customers also have the ability to deploy onto Yokus network virtual machines they have built in their local office environment as well as create blank machines that can be configured and optimized to meet their needs.

One of our goals at Yoku Cloud Hosting is to go above and beyond for our clients with a friendly and personable level of support and customer service not found in hosting today.

In addition, Rob added I have noticed a shift in the hosting services marketplace over the last few years. We support our cloud hosting clients and businesses; we will work closely with them and help optimize their hosted applications or servers. This devotion to our clients and providing them with great value and customer care is what makes Yoku Cloud Hosting different from the rest and I feel its the best choice for small business owners and developers.

YOKU Cloud Hosting will be publishing in the next few weeks beta codes for a chance to access their service at no charge during their opening beta.

PayPal, Convio, TakePart, and Challenge Your World Sponsor Competition to "Change the Web"

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 23, 2009

PayPal, Convio, TakePart, and Challenge Your World will sponsor Social Actions’ Change the Web Challenge, a competition to create innovative tools that help people find and share opportunities to take action on the websites, blogs, and social networks they visit each day. Social Actions, a web-based nonprofit initiative, will launch the Change the Web Challenge on February 23, 2009.

“We’re extremely excited to be a part of such a wonderful program,” said Judy Chang, Product Manager for Nonprofits at PayPal. “We hope the ideas and fundraising tools developed through this contest will have a lasting impact on nonprofits across the board, helping them use the web to increase and streamline donations.”

Web developers who enter the Change the Web Challenge have a chance to win a share of $ 10,000 by building web applications that draw on Social Actions’ open database of 60,000+ actions people can take across a range of issues. Social Actions currently aggregates opportunities to make a difference from over 40 online platforms, including VolunteerMatch, Kiva, DonorsChoose.org, Idealist.org, and Change.org.

“Making a difference in the world is no easy task, but the Change the Web Challenge is trying to change this very notion by harnessing the power of the Internet to encourage online philanthropy and social change,” said Sara Spivey, Chief Marketing Officer for Convio.

To be eligible for prizes, participants must use the Social Actions API, have an open-source license, and submit a fully functional application. Developers are encouraged to create applications for popular open platforms and websites such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Mozilla Firefox, Google Apps, WordPress, Drupal, Google Gadgets, Joomla, OpenSocial, and OpenConvio.

A handful of applications have already been created by developers using the Social Actions API:

DonorsChoose.org Possibly Related Classroom Projects: A WordPress Plugin that analyzes a user’s blog posts and shares related classroom projects from DonorsChoose.org.
Twitter Action Pack: Over 30 Twitter feeds that automatically post action updates related to particular issues (i.e. the environment, human rights, education).
Firefox Ubiquity Command: A Firefox mashup that allows users to highlight any phrase as they browse the web, and find related ways to take action.
“Online tools that connect people to real world actions in creative and accessible ways have the potential to rapidly accelerate social change. We are thrilled to support this Challenge and look forward to implementing these tools on TakePart.com,” said Chris Gebhardt, General Manger at Participant Media’s new social action network, TakePart.

The Challenge will be hosted on Netsquared.org, an initiative of TechSoup Global. A community vote in early April will narrow project submissions to 20 semifinalists. A panel of web and social innovation experts will then determine three finalists based on the applications’ innovation, user-experience, and potential for impact. Winners will be announced at the NTEN Nonprofit Technology Conference in San Francisco on April 28, 2009.

“For the public school teachers who have posted the 11,000+ classroom requests at DonorsChoose.org, the Change the Web Challenge has the potential to make a real difference,” said Oliver Hurst-Hiller, the CTO of DonorsChoose.org. “It’s an exciting opportunity for developers to put their skills to work to connect donors with students in high-need classrooms.”

During February and March, Social Actions will also host face-to-face Change the Web meetups, and an online Change the Web Conversation Series to discuss how to use specific technology platforms, like Facebook, Twitter and the iPhone, for good.

“By bringing actions to the people, people can bring change to the world,” said Bennett Grassano, the Director of Development for Kiva.

For a schedule of events and more information about the Change the Web Challenge, go to http://www.socialactions.com/changetheweb.

James Schramko Shares Office AutoPilot"s Recent Name Change to OntraPort, Recommends Exciting New Uses for the Business Automation System

Sydney, Australia (PRWEB) December 11, 2012

In a recent review news update, SuperFastBusiness.com’s CEO James Schramko shares news about a welcome development: the change of business automation platform Office AutoPilot / SendPepper’s name to OntraPort. Schramko also provides ideal new ways for businesses to utilize the software and experience improved performance and efficiency.

The OntraPort system is an all-in-one business marketing platform that effectively integrates a company’s automated marketing, payment processing, and contact, affiliate, and task management processes. With such a powerful solution in place, Internet marketers can free themselves of the burden of handling several web technologies at once and this allows them to focus on delivering true value to their prospects and clients.

Schramko recently caught up with OntraPort founder Landon Ray at a conference that took place in Sydney and was able to talk about the different ways that the OntraPort email marketing tool can create a positive impact on any business. Ive been using the software to grow my own businessparticularly to get more leads, keep the customers that Ive got, and get my current prospects to buy more things once they become a customer, he explains. Its highly automated and it systemizes your business.

SuperFastBusiness.com regularly uses and highly recommends a number of the OntraPort email marketing solution’s capabilities: it enables users to compile all contacts in one database together with a history of communications and sales, making it easier to track and gather leads; it creates email campaigns that can be sent to customers automatically according to their subscriptions or actions; it automates invoices, order forms, shipping options, and tax collection; and it helps business owners prioritize important tasks with their staff.

OntraPort can also be used as an integral aspect of a company’s customer relationship management or CRM processes. In addition, businesses that have WordPress sites can easily integrate the software’s plugin.

In the coming 12 months well see more developments of SMS combined with emailand post cards as well, Schramko shares. So this will be a very powerful marketing machine.

The Office AutoPilot OntraPort autoresponder software costs around $ 300 a montha great investment, the CEO emphasizes, for entities seeking to build their business faster and more effectively. He invites those who are interested in purchasing the platform to do so through his product review site BuyWithBonus.com in order to receive a special presentation about CRM. “It is going to open up your mind to what is possible,” Schramko affirms. “Ill show you how to harness the power of YouTube, iTunes, and your own blog to fill your OntraPort system with more leads.”
