Get In The Game with Redesigned Coach K Website

Delray Beach, FL (PRWEB) August 18, 2009

Mike Krzyzewski, a leader on and off the basketball court, invites his fans to follow him online to his newly redesigned website, CoachK.com. The new site makes it easier — and more fun — to find out, instantly, what’s happening with Duke University’s legendary basketball coach.

The cleaner, more modern look of the website allows fans to click through Coach K’s amazing 29-year career as Duke’s top coach. Tab through his bestselling books, his words of inspiration, his feats, his coaching record, and his work in the community.

Also featured is Krzyzewski’s new role with the USA National Men’s Basketball Team. Read the latest Coach K news, find out about upcoming events, or order Krzyzewski’s coaching DVDs.

The new website was redesigned by Jeff Klein, president of Power Play Marketing, a web design and internet marketing company based in Delray Beach, FL. Klein also designed Krzyzewski’s previous website in 2004. The new site takes advantage of advances in web technology, such as automated content management and site navigation, to deliver a better user experience.

“I worked closely with the Duke Athletic Department to develop the site,” Klein said. “I am thrilled with the result.”

Check out some of these new website features:

Rotating flash banner ad for featured stories
“Share Your Story” feature allows fans to share their Coach K stories
Site search
Social bookmarking icons to promote sharing of information
Dynamic menus and site navigation
Many other back-end enhancements

“The new site, which is powered by WordPress has grown to more than 300 pages,” Klein said. “I needed a better, more scalable way to manage the site, while also providing new functionality to the users.”

Klein said the site has grown to illustrate the many sides of Krzyzewski. “Coach K is involved in so many different things beyond Duke, including USA Basketball, the Emily K Center, public speaking, and community causes,” Klein said. “CoachK.com provides a way for fans to learn about all of them online.”

Restaurant Engine a Game Changer for Restaurant Website Design

Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) May 24, 2012

The days of poorly-designed restaurant websites may finally be coming to an end. Restaurant Engine has launched their restaurant website design solution, helping restaurants turn all of those hungry online visitors into customers.

What makes Restaurant Engine so appealing to restaurateurs is that its completely turnkey: Restaurants get stunning website design, hosting, a WordPress-powered back-end, and personal consultation, all packaged in an affordable monthly subscription model. Theres even a free trial so restaurants can take their new website for a test run.

We collaborate with some of the most talented web designers in the industry (who normally charge thousands for a custom website design) to give restaurants a level of quality that creates more credibility for their business on the web, says founder and lead web designer, Brian Casel.

For restaurants, boosting ones credibility online really pays off. The Pew Research Center released a study showing that the Internet is the number one source people turn to for information about local restaurants. Another recent study shows 75% of visitors judge a website’s credibility based on the quality of it’s design.

Todays restaurant customers arent only using their computers to surf the web. Smartphones and tablets like the iPhone and iPad account for a huge chunk of Internet traffic especially when you consider most people searching for restaurants are already out and about using their mobile device. Thats why Restaurant Engine provides restaurants with a mobile website, built in, without the need for additional apps or setup.

The feature I like most about Restaurant Engine is the mobile optimization and simplicity of setting up the site. Practically, everything is already there and one only needs to plug in their content, says a user of the service.

Other features Restaurant Engine users can take advantage of include managing food menus, photo galleries, online reservations, events calendars, and more. Since its built on WordPress, the webs leading content management system, its easy to add a blog and manage unlimited web pages.

Social media and search engine optimization (SEO) round out the product, giving restaurants all of the tools they need to market their business online and spur word-of-mouth promotion on social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Foursquare.

Restaurants in search of a quality restaurant website design solution can learn more about Restaurant Engine and start a free trial by going to http://RestaurantEngine.com.

GLSEN Launches Changing the Game: The GLSEN Sports Project to Address LGBT Issues in K-12 Sports

New York, NY (Vocus/PRWEB) March 17, 2011

In an effort to make K-12 sports and physical education safer and more inclusive for all regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression, GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, and a diverse coalition of athletes, journalists and sports figures today launch Changing the Game: The GLSEN Sports Project (http://sports.glsen.org).

I am really excited to be working with GLSEN to create a Sports Project that will help to make sports and physical education a great experience for every student no matter what their sexual orientation or gender identity/expression., said GLSEN Sports Project Director Pat Griffin, former Director of It Takes a Team Education Campaign for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Issues in Sport at the Womens Sports Foundation.

The list of Advisory Group and All-Star supporters includes Hall of Fame, Olympic and National Champion athletes, award-winning journalists, former college athletic directors and current professional, college and high school coaches.

Among them: Hall of Fame tennis players Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova; ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com columnist LZ Granderson; Olympic softball medalists Jessica Mendoza and Lauren Lappin; current NFL player Scott Fujita and former NFL player Wade Davis; WNBA player Candice Wiggins; Toronto Maple Leafs President and General Manager Brian Burke; National Center for Lesbian Rights Sports Project Director Helen Carroll; three-time All-American wrestler Hudson Taylor; Outsports.com co-founder Cyd Zeigler; WNBA Coach Lin Dunn; Rugby player Ben Cohen; former MLB player Billy Bean; and former NBA player John Amaechi.

With few existing resources or programs designed to address homophobia and transphobia in K-12 sports, Changing the Game: The GLSEN Sports Project fills a critical gap and adds a vital new dimension to GLSENs work to create a world in which every child learns to accept and respect all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.

Nearly 9 out of 10 LGBT youth (84.6%) said theyd experienced harassment in school in the past year because of their sexual orientation and nearly two-thirds (63.7%) because of their gender expression, according to GLSENs 2009 National School Climate Survey. Additionally, 61.1% said they felt unsafe at school because of their sexual orientation.

When asked if there were particular spaces at school they avoided because they felt unsafe or uncomfortable, 35.7% of LGBT student said locker rooms, the highest percentage of any place at school.

GLSEN is committed to the principle that all students should have equal access to the services, supports and opportunities of a K-12 education, GLSEN Executive Director Eliza Byard said. Changing the Game is designed to help schools, coaches, athletes and families create a healthy atmosphere of respect in PE classes and competitive athletics. Sports and PE were a central part of my life growing up, and are critical for student health and well-being. Every child today should have the opportunity to participate fully and safely in every aspect of school life.

GLSEN’s Changing the Game website (http://sports.glsen.org) features a collection of Game Plan resources for athletes, athletic administrators, coaches and parents; a Game Changer video project (YouTube.com/GLSENsports) to raise awareness about people making a difference in the sports world every day; the Team Respect Challenge pledge for teams to commit to treat all teammates with respect. Additional Changing the Game programs will be introduced in the coming months.

The program also will highlight the important work student-athletes already are doing across the country to promote a simple theme that is at the heart of Changing the Game: The GLSEN Sports Project.

Respect. Are you bringin it?

“The sporting world is a place where many children and teens grow into the person they will become, said Brad Usselman, a cross county athlete at Skyview High School in Vancouver, Wash., and a blogger along with two other high school LGBT athletes at http://bradrobertben.wordpress.com. Acceptance needs to be promoted so that we can foster a generation that does not care if someone is LGBT. They look past the fact of someone’s sexuality and instead try to see who the person truly is.”

About GLSEN

GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, is the leading national education organization focused on ensuring safe schools for all students. Established in 1990, GLSEN envisions a world in which every child learns to respect and accept all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. GLSEN seeks to develop school climates where difference is valued for the positive contribution it makes to creating a more vibrant and diverse community. Nonprofit Charity Announces Online Video Game Design Contest to Increase Awareness of Dating Violence

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) March 17, 2012

Atlanta based nonprofit, Jennifer Anns Group, announces the 5th Annual Life.Love. Game Design Challenge with a first place prize of $ 5,000 for the video game that best illustrates the dangers of dating violence for teens, tweens, and young adults.

In 2008 Jennifer Anns Group announced the first challenge to promote awareness of teen dating violence through video games. The video game design contest was very well received, due in part to the restriction that the video game entries must increase awareness about teen dating violence but cannot include violence in the video game itself. Every year since 2008, the contest has received increased participation from the international community. Winning entries include video games from the United States, Thailand, Mexico, and Belgium.

The video game design challenge has been received with a great deal of praise from both the media and public alike:

“That Jennifer Ann’s Group uses game design to reach out to its target demographic is another example of how positive our medium can be.”

Leigh Alexander, SexyVideogameland

I approached Grace’s Diary (2010 winner) quite sure I had never encountered dating violence. But playing caused me to stop and remember back to when I was a teenager, and I realised that wasn’t completely true.

Microcosm Gamer, GamePeople.co.uk

Grace’s Diary manages to seamlessly integrate the theme of relationship abuse into a sensitive and moving visual novel.

JayIsGames.com

The game serves an important purpose, as it addresses an issue with youth not being talked about or taken seriously in a medium that its easy to get into, and get educated. The player feels for the characters, cares about their fate, and comes out feeling worn out from the ordeal.

Janette, jedko.wordpress.com

[I]t is relevant, simple and hits some of us close to home. Putting it in a game format like this just makes it more intimate and engrossing and I totally recommend it if you have twenty minutes to spare.

Strangeluv, MeridianDance.org

This is the first game to get a perfect 5 on this site, and I’m not just being swayed by the fact that it’s made to support a good cause.

GirlGameReview

I was surprised how much I learned about my own relationships as well as having some really useful conversations with my family about establishing healthy boundaries.

Geek Dad, Wired.com

Drew Crecente, Executive Director of Jennifer Anns Group, has this to say, Video games have traditionally been treated primarily as a source for entertainment and secondarily for education purposes but rarely as a tool for social change. Jennifer Anns Group is attempting to reach as much of our target audience as possible within the constraints of our small nonprofits budget. Every year the games are enjoyed by more and more of the public and this year were hoping for an even larger impact.

Rules, sign-up information, FAQs, and all previously winning games are available at Jennifer Anns Groups website: http://www.JenniferAnn.org.

ABOUT Jennifer Anns Group – Jennifer Anns Group is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to educating young people, parents, and teachers about danger signs, warning signals, and indications of dangerous relationships and then providing information leading to groups that offer assistance, counseling and protection. Jennifer Anns Group was instrumental in the passing of legislation in Texas mandating teen dating violence awareness in schools and has distributed over 1/2 million free educational materials to schools, churches, police departments, district attorneys, and organizations throughout the U.S. and U.K. at no cost to the recipients.

In 2006, Drew Crecente created Jennifer Anns Group in response to his daughters murder at the hands of her ex-boyfriend. Jennifer Ann Crecente was an honor roll student in high school; she was a camp counselor and a hospital volunteer; and she participated in the arts with her dad. She is missed every day.
