Seattle-Based Non-Profit Launches One-Of-A-Kind Online Village Sponsorship Program

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) July 29, 2010

Agros International is proud to introduce a new online multimedia experience and monthly sponsorship program called One Village. This program leverages unique online technology in order to connect supporters to rural families in Central America. For as little as $ 15 a month, sponsors can make a difference in the lives of rural families working together as a village community to overcome poverty.

Agros is a Seattle-based non-profit organization that works with poor, landless farmers in Central America and Mexico. Through a unique, holistic development model, Agros extends loans to purchase farmland and then partners and trains farmers for 7-10 years in applying sustainable agricultural practices, all with the goal of enabling these families to create, develop, and eventually own a sustainable village. Agros has started 40 village projects across five countries.

Through the One Village website, donors are able to sponsor an actual rural village in Central America, and then follow that community online through first-hand stories, compelling photos, videos, panoramic photography, and project updates detailing village progress.

Weve learned at Agros that donors want to do more than just write a check to a worthy cause; they want to see the difference their donations make in real lives. Today, we are excited to invite people to the One Village website where they can experience and support a Central American village in an incredible journey out of extreme poverty, shares Sean Dimond, Agros Communications Director.

In order to build this remarkable virtual experience, Agros International partnered with CrashShop, a Seattle-based interactive media studio specializing in innovative websites, to help develop the online technology. The One Village website is a first of its kind, integrating the WordPress Content Management System with Adobes Flash platform. We believe in Agros work, and are thrilled to play a part in helping more people experience and sponsor Agros villages. Its a privilege to help restore hope and dignity to the worlds poor through the One Village website, says Michael Redmond, Founder & President of CrashShop.

New York Homeless Assistance Non-Profit Enters Digital Age

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 21, 2012

The partnership was established after Ayima was invited to speak on an Extreme Makeover SEO panel at the annual Search Marketing Expo conference in New York. The marketing agency was challenged with providing a non-profit with a pro-bono Search Engine Optimization makeover and then to present their strategy and findings at the conference.

Ayima worked relentlessly with Nazareths administrators, making modifications to the website and building the non-profits online presence. We made alterations to both the content and structure of Nazareths website, to make it more understandable to search engines such as Google, explained David Burgess, head of Ayimas New York office. A marketing outreach campaign was also developed to attract links from relevant websites and partners, which increased the non-profits perceived popularity in the eyes of search engines.

One considerable hurdle faced by both Ayima and Nazareth Housing, was the amount of resources required to make even the most basic of changes to the existing website. According to James Saracini, Assistant for Development and Mission at Nazareth Housing, adding a new page to our site could take over 2 hours.

The non-profit could barely afford to continue wasting precious resources maintaining their website, but it was vital to keep their donors and beneficiaries informed and connected. It was also clear to Nazareth Housings more tech-savvy Junior Board, that their website was beginning to look extremely out-dated. Ayima decided to go beyond their initial SEO remit and to extend the project beyond online marketing, commissioning a website overhaul. Following consultation with Michael Callaghan, Executive Director of Nazareth, Ayimas in-house web design agency DesignBuzz (http://www.designbuzz.co.uk/), got to work on a fresh new look for the non-profit.

We decided to power the new website using WordPress (http://wordpress.org/), a popular blogging and content management system. The software is free and open source, so future changes and updates will be extremely easy and cost effective for the non-profit, noted DesignBuzzs Creative Director, Jay Galsworthy. The new design not only provided a clean, contemporary and professional public face for Nazareth Housing, but also resolved the issue of resource time taken up by maintaining the site. This saving was estimated at over 200 man-hours every year.

The SEO campaign was also a huge success. Ayimas work resulted in the non-profit ranking on the first page of Google.com and Bing.com for searches such as [homeless charity NYC], [emergency family shelters NYC] and [furniture donation NYC].

Discussing the project, David Burgess commented, Its now over 6 months since weve been working with Michael and James at Nazareth Housing. It gives me great pleasure to see the huge strides forward that have been made in such a short space of time. Im a big fan of the digital community in New York City, driven by Mayor Bloomberg and his Chief Digital Officer, Rachel Sterne. By embracing the latest outreach and communication platforms, they are connecting with New Yorkers and the wider internet community in ways other cities could only dream of.

Ayima co-founder, Rob Kerry, added Were proud to know that the work carried out will enable Nazareth Housing to connect with and assist more vulnerable individuals in New York, to drive donations and to support activities in the future. It has been a hugely rewarding project for our team and we look forward to continuing our support of Nazareth Housing in the foreseeable future.

Active Web Group, Inc. Initiates Google Grant for Non-Profit Angelas House

Hauppauge, NY (PRWEB) September 28, 2012

Active Web Group, Inc. (AWG), a leading Internet marketing company headquartered in Hauppauge, New York, today announced that its client Angelas House (angelashouse.org) has been accepted into Googles grants program for non-profit agencies. For over 20 years, Angelas House has assisted families to care for their medically frail children who may live with their parents or in special homes that offer 24 hour nursing support. The initial grant is scalable and will be used to contact and engage the agencys supporters and donors through Googles AdWords online advertising.

Active Web values and is committed to our clients. We strive to find ways to enable them to grow their online businesses, states Pat Norton, Vice President and Director of Business Development, Active Web Group, Inc. Recently while attending a seminar, an AWG staffer saw the opportunity to assist Angelas House in its fundraising initiatives by applying for a Google grant, he notes. Once the Company had secured the non-profits permission, AWG guided them through the tedious application process. The first hurdle involved clearance by Googles Not for Profit foundation, then the Google Grants (the nonprofit edition of AdWords, Googles online advertising tool) panel reviewed the non-profits application. Upon their consideration, Angelas House soon received a scalable grant which is awarded and designated to promote their mission and initiatives on Google.com.

Active Web realized the leverage this grant would provide our client allowing them to reach donors, volunteers and others when they are searching on Google, Norton explains. This way Angelas House can further raise awareness for their worthy cause by selecting relevant keywords and creating unique advertising to highlight and promote their charity, he adds.

Other features of the AdWords grant include the ability to track online donations, newsletter sign-ups and volunteer registrations thereby both tracking and streamlining this administrative process. Essentially, Google is enabling the expansion of Angelas House mission to provide for the needs of medically fragile children and their families on Long Island. Active Web is very proud to assist them to expand their donor, volunteer and fundraising base through this award, Norton concludes.

New Non-Profit Website Sees an Immediate 30% Traffic Increase and Growing

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 06, 2012

Neurofibromatosis Midwest, a Non-Profit 501(c)(3), launched a fully redesigned website with the help of Idea Marketing Group in late August of this year. The newly redesigned website makes it easier for families and friends affected with neurofibromatosis find helpful articles, resources, as well as news and events.

Our goal is to keep an active, comprehensive neurofibromatosis database, NF Midwest Executive Director Diana Haberkamp stated. Though the information existed on the previous website, it was several clicks deep and took significant time to update and maintain. The team at Idea worked closely with us in reorganizing and presenting information in a clear, effective format, reported Haberkamp. The new website is built on the WordPress platform allowing for non-tech savvy staff to add and edit content quickly with ease.

In addition, search engine rankings have improved resulting in an increased amount of visitors. Google Analytics show a continual growth in visitors (+30%), duration of visits (+18%), and more importantly conversions compared to the previous month. We have been experiencing an increased amount of emails and calls on a weekly basis, said Haberkamp.

The launch of the new non-profit website marks off one of the larger goals set by NF Midwest for 2012. With the website now complete, we have been able to shift our efforts towards increasing active local chapters as well as marketing our on-going events, stated Haberkamp. The Neurofibromatosis Midwest website can be seen by visiting http://www.nfmidwest.org.

Nonprofit Charity Announces Online Video Game Design Contest to Increase Awareness of Dating Violence

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) March 17, 2012

Atlanta based nonprofit, Jennifer Anns Group, announces the 5th Annual Life.Love. Game Design Challenge with a first place prize of $ 5,000 for the video game that best illustrates the dangers of dating violence for teens, tweens, and young adults.

In 2008 Jennifer Anns Group announced the first challenge to promote awareness of teen dating violence through video games. The video game design contest was very well received, due in part to the restriction that the video game entries must increase awareness about teen dating violence but cannot include violence in the video game itself. Every year since 2008, the contest has received increased participation from the international community. Winning entries include video games from the United States, Thailand, Mexico, and Belgium.

The video game design challenge has been received with a great deal of praise from both the media and public alike:

“That Jennifer Ann’s Group uses game design to reach out to its target demographic is another example of how positive our medium can be.”

Leigh Alexander, SexyVideogameland

I approached Grace’s Diary (2010 winner) quite sure I had never encountered dating violence. But playing caused me to stop and remember back to when I was a teenager, and I realised that wasn’t completely true.

Microcosm Gamer, GamePeople.co.uk

Grace’s Diary manages to seamlessly integrate the theme of relationship abuse into a sensitive and moving visual novel.

JayIsGames.com

The game serves an important purpose, as it addresses an issue with youth not being talked about or taken seriously in a medium that its easy to get into, and get educated. The player feels for the characters, cares about their fate, and comes out feeling worn out from the ordeal.

Janette, jedko.wordpress.com

[I]t is relevant, simple and hits some of us close to home. Putting it in a game format like this just makes it more intimate and engrossing and I totally recommend it if you have twenty minutes to spare.

Strangeluv, MeridianDance.org

This is the first game to get a perfect 5 on this site, and I’m not just being swayed by the fact that it’s made to support a good cause.

GirlGameReview

I was surprised how much I learned about my own relationships as well as having some really useful conversations with my family about establishing healthy boundaries.

Geek Dad, Wired.com

Drew Crecente, Executive Director of Jennifer Anns Group, has this to say, Video games have traditionally been treated primarily as a source for entertainment and secondarily for education purposes but rarely as a tool for social change. Jennifer Anns Group is attempting to reach as much of our target audience as possible within the constraints of our small nonprofits budget. Every year the games are enjoyed by more and more of the public and this year were hoping for an even larger impact.

Rules, sign-up information, FAQs, and all previously winning games are available at Jennifer Anns Groups website: http://www.JenniferAnn.org.

ABOUT Jennifer Anns Group – Jennifer Anns Group is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to educating young people, parents, and teachers about danger signs, warning signals, and indications of dangerous relationships and then providing information leading to groups that offer assistance, counseling and protection. Jennifer Anns Group was instrumental in the passing of legislation in Texas mandating teen dating violence awareness in schools and has distributed over 1/2 million free educational materials to schools, churches, police departments, district attorneys, and organizations throughout the U.S. and U.K. at no cost to the recipients.

In 2006, Drew Crecente created Jennifer Anns Group in response to his daughters murder at the hands of her ex-boyfriend. Jennifer Ann Crecente was an honor roll student in high school; she was a camp counselor and a hospital volunteer; and she participated in the arts with her dad. She is missed every day.
