Learning Research, Inc. Building Learning App Ecosystem

Austin, TX (PRWEB) March 06, 2012

eDoorways International Corporation (pk: EDWY.PK – News) announced today a lean startup development program by its subsidiary Learning Research Inc. (LRI) to bring its proprietary adaptive learning technology to the world of mobile devices. Under the stewardship of its new CEO Dr. Robert B. Wesson, LRI will follow the lead of Apple Inc. to create a completely new ecosystem for creating, building, validating, marketing and executing mobile-centric educational and knowledge-sharing modules. A video of Dr. Wesson’s announcement can be seen at LearningResearchInc.com.

Four years ago there was not an app for that, Dr. Wesson said, and programmers were still high priests who spoke in a language no one else could understand. Today, my kids can build a website or a mobile app using drag-and-drop tools inside sophisticated integrated development environments. Once theyre built, they can be instantly uploaded and marketed via the App Store, producing potentially huge royalty income for both the author and the App Store owner. And anyone with a mobile device can enjoy them at incredibly low cost.

We intend to field such an ecosystem for learning apps, Dr. Wesson continued, building from the core LRI technology we just acquired from eDoorways. Educators from professors to virtually anyone with specialized knowledge will be able to use the online LRI toolkit to build a learning app that adapts to the needs and ability of its user, then submit it to eDoorways App Store for sale and distribution, where it can be bought and executed on a wide range of mobile devices, from tablets to phones to iPods. Naturally, eDoorways and LRI will almost immediately see new sources of revenue from every step of this ecosystem, all derived from experts (but not programmers) who desire nothing less than to share their knowledge with users willing to pay a little something to learn it.

LRI expects to demonstrate a minimum viable product (MVP) prototype of its new learning technology ecosystem in a few months, and will be in stealth mode until then to accomplish its ambitious mission. The Evolution of Learnable

The social online learning concept began at sitepoint.com as a series of online courses focused on teaching web developers a better way to design and build the web. sitepoint.com is one of the largest online communities of web developers and designers in the world.

Recognizing the potential that peer to peer learning has to a range of topics over and above web development, SitePoint decided to launch a Learnable as a new business focused on social online learning.

At launch, Learnable covered a variety of topics, including:

Public Speaking
Golf Fundamentals
JavasScript Programming

Yoga
MYOB

Impeccable Credentials

Learnable isnt the first business that SitePoint has spun out. In 2008, SitePoint span out 99designs.com now the #1 marketplace for crowd-sourced graphic design. In 2009, SitePoint launched flippa.com – now the #1 place on the internet to buy or sell a web site. Its hardly surprising, then, that a great deal of listening, research and testing took place before introducing Learnable to the wider community.

In Learnable, I believe weve succeeded in bringing together knowledge experts and people who crave that knowledge, explains Learnable Co-Founder, Leni Mayo.

Weve invited experts in niche areas to contribute, and already their coursesand the way theyre deliveredare being embraced by students around the world.

Course Delivery

Learnables online courses vary in level of difficulty and length, and are priced from around $ 9 to $ 50. Students have access to detailed information about each course before they buy.

These self-paced online courses allow students to learn in bite-sized chunks in their own time. The courses comprise articles, exercises, videos, and other downloadable resources. Theyre seamlessly packaged into browser-accessible lessons for the ultimate easy-learning experience.

But the peer-to-peer learning aspect of the service doesnt end there. Says Mayo, Learnables social Q&A allows students to ask questions of instructors and other students, and to see and participate in previously asked questions and answers. Its like an ongoing class discussion thats happening wherever you are, he adds.

Learnables online courses are non-formala happy medium between structured institutional learning and unstructured self-guided learning. They allow students to learn from everyday experts, and build knowledge at a minimal cost as and when it suits them.
