During Economic Slow, Student and Father Succeeds with Los Angeles DJ Business

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 23, 2008

The pressures of the failing economy are being felt by everyone, but one Los Angeles DJ feels he may have found a recession resistant industry. Los Angeles DJ Sam House, founder of House Entertainment, has provided entertainment for weddings, birthdays, and special events since 1998. Sam loves his work, and feels he is blessed to be able to do what he enjoys for a living. On the weekend, Sam can be found behind the turntables at some of the most elite Hollywood events. During the week however, you’ll have a better chance finding him playing with his one and a half year old son Max, or studying on campus at UCLA. Sam can also be found at djsamhouse.com.

Growing up in Detroit, MI Sam was no stranger to economic hardship. Raised by a single mother on welfare, Sam’s story is truly that of triumph over insurmountable odds. After making his way to California to live with his father at the age of 13, Sam developed a passion for music and performance. That passion later developed into the driving force behind Sam’s success. While working full time and going to Riverside Community College, Sam decided to take the leap into the DJ world and bought his first turntables. At first, just playing for friends at local coffee shops, Sam found he was in love with his new hobby.

The forces of the post 9-11 economy struck at Sam once again in 2002, when he was laid off from an account executive position at Sprint. Fortunately for thousands of party goers, this was the catalyst that brought about the greatest change in Sam’s life. He decided to start his own mobile DJ service. Founding House Entertainment and creating his own website at http://djsamhouse.com.

Sam’s new weekend warrior lifestyle went together nicely with an admittance into UCLA. There Sam studies linguistics with the hope of possibly attending law school after completing his B.A. in the Spring. Focusing on universal properties of language, Sam has had the opportunity to study French, Japanese, Arabic, and even Ancient Egyptian.

With all of this education in the works the next logical question for most would be, “So, what do you plan to do with your degree?” This is a question that Sam often answers when asked by the people he meets. His response, “Keep DJ-ing, because I love what I do!” It is that love for what he does that has allowed him to continue with his education and start his family. Now, with less than a year to go until he obtains his undergraduate degree, he finds himself realizing that college will have ended up being just for personal development, since DJ-ing will always be his passion.

Los Angeles DJ Sam House also publishes pictures and reviews of his events at his blog. http://djsamhouse.wordpress.com by subscribing you can receive updates and never miss a beat. If you are planning an event you can receive an instant online quote at http://djsamhouse.com/quote.html.

The California Council on Economic Education Announces Its Website Redesign at http://www.ccee.org

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 10, 2011

The California Council on Economic Education (CCEE), a leading economic and financial literacy education organization in California, announced today its newly redesigned website. The aim of the website is to be the go to place for everyoneteachers, education professionals, business and government leaders, donors, students, parents, and the general publicinterested in financial literacy and economic reasoning education for K-12 students in California. The ultimate goal is to prepare Californias students to participate in the global economy as responsible workers, consumers, savers and citizens.

For teachers, the website creates a community and a place to access no-cost and low-cost education resources for their students that are standards-based and have been vetted by classroom teachers. In addition, teachers will find professional development opportunities. For donors, the website features expanded sections on why financial literacy is important, progress on fundraising efforts, and CCEE contributors. The website also includes a new feature that makes donating online by credit card easy for individuals.

Our online visitors will now have an easier time finding the information they want and accessing it, says Laurie King, Director of Development and Strategic Planning at the California Council on Economic Education. For teachers, we have lesson plans, students contests, programs and professional development workshops that provide continuing education credits available online. The business community will now more easily be able to see how we teach economics and financial literacy to students … and visitors to our site will be able to find information on the state of financial literacy among California students as well as find out who is working with us to provide a solution for preparing all students with the skills they will need to participate in the global economy.

The website makes it easier to get involved and be part of the solution to the lack of financial know-how. The calendar section allows for online registration at CCEE events, the blog keeps you up-to-date on our current thinking and press releases recount CCEEs successes. The site was designed to add more social media as CCEE grows.

Financial Literacy Lesson Plans More Accessible

The website hosts all the California Council on Economic Educations program materials, including lesson plans, students contests, curricula for K-12 students, and teacher workshops. The site is organized to help teachers quickly find what they are looking for in Teaching Economics and it is organized by grade and topic. If a user is not sure where to look, the search engine within the site will help.

Economics for Donors discusses the need for economic and financial education among our students. It also outlines the goals of CCEEs strategic plan to reach one million students each year. The contributors that are helping to provide students with economic and financial literacy skills are highlighted.

About Us provides information about the nine economic principles that all CCEEs programs are based on, board members that guide the organization, CCEE staff, and partners throughout the state and nation that help us deliver the highest quality economic and financial literacy education to teachers and their students.

Design Team

The CCEE staff worked with Spiffy Press, based in Pasadena, California to design and build this website. Key expertise provided by Spiffy Press included marketing strategy based on target audience interviews, search engine optimization, and customized wordpress architecture.

PR Company Expands Despite Tough Economic Climate

London, England (PRWEB) February 4, 2009

UK PR Company Punch Communications has expanded its team of consultants to eight and is continuing to recruit due to significant number of account wins and a steady stream of new business enquiries despite the currently tough economic climate.

Christie Hobbs joins the team as its latest recruit, moving from Marbella – where she ran numerous travel, lifestyle campaigns for a Spanish PR Company – back to her roots in the East Midlands. Christie joins the team as a Senior Account Executive and will be working alongside the team on a broad range of accounts, from automotive, to consumer, to technology clients.

With the business having grown around 500% in 18 months, the agency is also currently eyeing other expansion options, in terms of additional offices in other UK cities. The agency is intentionally top heavy, with six of the current team of eight being either Account Manager or Account Directors, ensuring that the business is able to offer senior consultancy and draw upon extensive experience to deliver campaign success.

As the business expands, it has diversified into a number of relatively new sectors – including Automotive and Education, which are both specialisms that the business offers alongside both high technology, consumer technology and lifestyle/FMCG clients. The business also works with clients in the construction, sports, music and gaming sectors, amongst others.

In particular, the team is a strong advocate of leading edge communications tools, such as Twitter and Digg for example. The team has a wide usage of social networking, from the obvious (Linked In, Plaxo and Facebook) to those that are less mainstream, such as Xing, Naymz, Plaxo, Ecademy, Econsultancy, Delicious, Qype and TripIt.

Pete Goold, Managing Director of Punch Communications, commented:

“We take blogging and social media very seriously as a company, not for its own sake but as we strongly believe that the communications world is changing rapidly and it’s hugely important to me that we are at the fore of that change. Working with a number of leading web 2.0 clients certainly helps but the point is that many of the tools we use are becoming increasingly mainstream and, I believe, in a few years time, practices such as micro-blogging will be prevalent across a great many more corporate sites.”

The team has a range of blog sites, both on the Punch corporate site and personally, across multiple blogging platforms, including WordPress, Blogger and Typepad.

Pete Goold added:

“Another key differentiator for us is the number of non-PR Companies that are looking to partner with us, either because they don’t have a PR function or because they are looking to join up their PR and web functions, with our online PR service. This works particularly well when we also have a requirement – such as the development of a website or a graphic design requirement for example – that the partner can in turn fulfil. Having developed some highly beneficial two way partnerships with businesses in the past, we are currently exploring numerous relationships”.

With five new clients won in the last six weeks, Punch is building on the success of current campaigns, having achieved coverage for clients across the national media in the last few weeks, from The Sunday Mirror, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, The Financial Times and The Guardian to coverage in Empire, BBC Homes, Saga magazine, along with numerous leading blogs and websites.

For more information regarding how a PR campaign can help your company, please visit punchcomms.com or call 01858 411600.

Cash Mobs Taking The Country By Storm. NE Ohio Attorney From Dworken & Bernstein Co., L.P.A Creating National Economic Excitement For Area Retailers.

Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) March 08, 2012

With $ 20 in hand, dozens of people are descending upon area independent retailers in a show of support to their community. Andrew Samtoy, a class action attorney at the Northeast Ohio law firm of Dworken & Bernstein developed this brilliant concept by taking the term “flash mob” and deciding it’s time for a turn of the phrase. The term “flash mob” started out meaning a group of people who gather in a public place to dance or sing. The mob morphed into something more disruptive and destructive via the social media.

Andrew Samtoy, a member of Cleveland Bridge Builders, an organization which trains the region’s future leaders wanted to help make an impact in the local economy. He along with fellow Bridge Builder, Marty Mordarski, coined the phrase “cash mob”.

Cash mobs gather on specific days at 6:00 at a predetermined location and target a store in the area. It must be locally owned, have products for both men and women and have parking. The store must be civic minded. Armed with at least $ 20 each, the “mob” will make purchases at the assigned location in a show of support for their neighborhood businesses.

“Many local businesses are struggling and if we can help them out a little bit, maybe give them an infusion, why not?” says Samtoy. Afterwards, the mob will gather at a local restaurant or bar to continue the economic stimulus. “The idea will not solve the economic crisis in Cleveland in one night or one month. But why not socialize with like minded Clevelander’s, support local businesses as well as a local eating establishment afterwards?

Since Andrew started “mobbing” local retailers, several offspring of his idea have rooted themselves all over the United States, Canada and even Europe. Calls come in on a regular basis for interviews from major news sources all over the world.

You can find out more about Cash Mobs on Facebook or Twitter or log onto the groups blog cashmobs.wordpress.com. There you can learn about the “mob rules” or “how to start your own cash mob”. Since its’ inception in September 2011, there are now 140 cash mobs throughout various cities in the United States as well as South Korea, Argentina, the UK, Sweden, Australia and more being formed.

Andrew was Dean of Delta Theta Phi law fraternity, earning a regional award for Most Outstanding Student of the fraternity. He’s now an outstanding attorney at Dworken & Bernstein Co. L.P.A.

In business for over 50 years, the Lake County law firm of Dworken & Bernstein Co.,L.P.A. is the largest law firm in Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties, Ohio with offices in Painesville as well as downtown Cleveland. Dworken & Bernstein offers a full range of legal services for businesses, individuals, and families in litigation and transactions with 26 attorneys and a staff of 65.

The firm’s creation of Ohio Lawyers Give Back has resulted in distributing over $ 23.5 million dollars in unclaimed class action funds to local charities through Dworken & Bernstein. “Our firm is a staunch believer in doing what we can to give back and support our community” comments Barbara Marlowe, Director of Marketing & Public Relations for the firm. “Andrew’s idea about Cash Mobs really helps our local independent businesses stay vital, and his energy is characteristic of the people at our firm.”

“We each do a little, we all do a lot”.
