World Water Crisis, Water Wars: Living Water International Guests on Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water Radio Show

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) November 04, 2011

On October 31, 2011, Sharon Kleyne, water advocate, Founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research and Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water host, interviewed Jerry Wiles, President Emeritus of Living Water International. Mr. Wiles’ non-profit, faith based organization is dedicated to providing water wells in third world countries.

In much of the world, according to Sharon Kleyne and Jerry Wiles, lack of safe and abundant fresh water causes dry air and numerous dehydration diseases, including dry eye leading to blindness. Water issues may also be responsible for lack of economic development and education and lowered status of women.

The interview may be played in podcast on World Talk Radio, Voice America, Green Talk Network, Apple iTunes, and naturestears.com. and Amazon.com

Living Water International was founded 21 years ago and continues to save and improve lives in the third world. They have completed 11,000 water well projects, with 1,387 in 2010 and 1,600 projected for 2011.

This faith based, non-profit organization works closely with the energy industry, which frequently donates drilling equipment. An energy industry employee on Living Water’s board developed a portable drilling rig for them that can be carried in a Jeep or canoe and runs on two gasoline engines. These are now in use all over the world.

Living Water works with the host nation (usually in Africa, Asia and South and Central America) and also assists in setting up local water committees (mostly women). Community wells may be located near a school or hospital and are maintained by the local committee, which also provides education on sanitation practices such as hand washing to prevent numerous dry eye diseases, including dry eye.

Jerry Wiles discussed bio-sand filters, developed by Living Water. It uses a barrel, gravity and layers of gravel, sand and charcoal to purify water. Water may be contaminated from human and animal waste, made worse by frequent drought. The result is dehydration disease, dry eye, cholera, diarrhea and malaria, leading to preventable blindness and deaths.

Water shortages in the United States

Sharon asked about charitable water wells in poor areas of the United States, noting that fresh water and agricultural water are becoming scarce. Jerry Wiles said that Living Water hasn’t yet drilled in the US and observed that in the US, the push for indoor pluming and reliable municipal water began 150 years ago with huge benefits. India and China are attempting to achieve that. Both have plenty of water but far too many people and much of their water is polluted.

The average American uses 100 gallons of water a day. The average third world villager uses less than five gallons a day. In villages with no wells, women walk an average of 3.17 miles a day to obtain fresh water.

Sharon asked about water for animals, mentioning the Mara River in Kenya and the diminishing water supply for migrating animals. Jerry Wiles observed that drought in the third world can be catastrophic for everyone. Living Water wells are mostly used for human consumption but could be used for livestock.

As Economy Crisis Tightens Belts, EasyDrupalTutorials.com"s Weekend Seminar Enables Realistic Own Business Success

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) October 9, 2008

With the current financial crisis leaving thousands on the employment scrap heap, people are now looking at self-employment to offer more control in their professional and personal lives. A key part of new business success is having a professional website to attract and maintain customers, yet too many businesses ignore this because of cost. A weekend seminar in Canada hosted by Easy Drupal Tutorials (http://www.easydrupaltutorials.com/get-free-tutorial.html) will show prospective business owners how to build their own fully interactive website cost-effectively.

The seminar is aimed at people who want to build their own business website but are missing the technical know-how. Using the Drupal Content Management System (CMS) as the platform to build from, the seminar will explain why Drupal offers the most effective, interactive and easy-to-implement features of any website building tool.

“There are numerous CMS platforms for building websites,” states founder of Easy Drupal Tutorials, Rene Tse, “although there are probably only three that matter – Drupal, WordPress and Joomla. While each have their pros and cons, Drupal is by far the most comprehensive yet easy-to-manage CMS on the market. My seminar will show people how to get a fully interactive and profitable site up within hours.”

The features offered by the Drupal Content Management System are perfect for newcomers to website building and management. For potential new business owners, Drupal also provides a platform from which to build a highly profitable customer base and community:

Free tools to increase online visibility, including RSS feeds, e-commerce, video blogging and newsletter sign-up
Interactive event calendars and directions, placing customers at a specific business address
Multi-user option to build dedicated visitor or customer forum and user base
“With Drupal, the power truly is in the hands of the user,” adds Rene. “Now, instead of having to pay a web designer between $ 3,000-$ 5,000 to set up a website for you, and then another $ 500-$ 1,000 to maintain and update it, you have complete control. If you can use something like Microsoft Word and copy paste folders and images on your computer, you can use Drupal. Combined with the knowledge gained at my seminar, as well as my intuitive Mind Maps solution (http://www.easydrupaltutorials.com/pdf/funnyladies.jpg) which offers a visual representation of a word or topic and ensures a fuller understanding, the dream of running your own business with a professional website will be reality within hours.”

The Easy Drupal Training Seminar (http://www.easydrupaltutorials.com/) will be held over the weekend of November 14, November 15 and November 16, 2008 at the Pacific Inn Resort Hotel & Conference Centre in White Rock/Surrey, BC, Canada.

Fresh Water Scarcity Is Most Explosive Global Crisis, Says Author Steven Solomon

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) April 26, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research and host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water syndicated radio talk show, considers Steven Solomon’s 2010 book about threats to the global fresh water supply as a wake-up call to everyone. Mrs. Kleyne recently interviewed Mr. Solomon for a second time to learn if any progress has been made to resolve the crisis. There has not.

Steven Solomon is an investigative reporter specializing in environmental issues. He is author of the book Water: The Epic Struggle for Wealth, Power and Civilization (Harper, 2010). The interview with Sharon Kleyne took place on April 23, 2012 (the day after Earth Day).

Sharon Kleyne observed that the global water crisis tends to be masked and not of immediate concern in much of the developed world – despite the fact that in China’s numerous mega-cities, and in rapidly growing population centers in the American Southwest, fresh water disaster is immanent.

Mr. Solomon observed that the recent “Arab Spring” revolts began in response to spiking food prices caused by fresh water scarcity. According to Solomon, population grown worldwide is outstripping agricultural production and the limiting factor is available fresh water.

Solomon also cited the problems if increasing desertification as part of global climate change, noting that a portion of this is natural and cyclical and not man-caused. According to Mr. Solomon, the Sahara used to be grassy savannah with swamps and hippopotamuses. As the desert expanded, people migrated to the largest remaining fertile strip; the Nile Valley where the Egyptian civilization emerged.

According to Mr. Solomon, Adam Smith, the famous Scottish economist (1723 to 1790), in his book The Wealth of Nations (published in 1776), observed that water is critical to all human activities, including life itself and is therefore highly undervalued. With fresh water becoming increasingly scarce in 2012, the price is expected to rise accordingly.

Sharon Kleyne then reiterated her belief that one legitimate role of government is to provide the infrastructure and financing to assure that nobody becomes ill or dies due to lack of abundant and sanitary fresh water. Steven Solomon agreed.

Solomon and Kleyne had a lengthy discussion of the impact of fresh water scarcity in Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Tibet, China, India, Pakistan, the Netherlands and the United States.

Steven Solomon noted that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently elevated water security to a top priority position in evaluating national security.

Steven Solomon’s website is http://www.thewaterblog.wordpress.com. His next book will be on the Mississippi River and the Army Corps of Engineers.

The Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water is broadcast live on Mondays, 10 a.m., PST/PDT. The syndicated talk show is heard on Voice America/World Talk Radio, Green Talk Network and Apple iTunes. The Sharon Kleyne Hour is sponsored by Bio Logic Aqua Research. Go to http://www.SharonKleyneHour.com for written summaries and on-demand replays.
