New Focus for Sharon Kleyne Hour - How Water on Planet Earth Influences the Solar System

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) June 20, 2011

Sharon Kleyne announces that promoting space-based atmospheric, earth science and water research will become an important focus of her show, her research and educational posts on her websites (http://www.naturestearseyemist.com and http://www.whatistheeye.wordpress.com).

Sharon Kleyne, water and health advocate and host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour – Power of Water syndicated talk radio show, is concerned about diminishing fresh water on Earth due to climate change, global warming, land development, pollution and population growth. These changes already affect human populations, health, agriculture, wildlife and much more. The extent of the damage is unknown and the chain reactions that may have been triggered are unknown.

Our actions today could very well impact the survival of life on Earth. They could even impact our surrounding planets.

According to Sharon Kleyne, if life on Earth is to overcome, survive and thrive, the decisive factors will be human ingenuity, vision and action. We must learn as much as possible about our planet – about the atmosphere, pollution, population, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, tornados and natural resources; and about changing patterns of weather, forests, grasslands, wetlands, deserts and wildlife – and the impact on human health and dehydration disease.

“To discover all we must know about the Earth’s life, water and resources,” she says, “we must study the planet from the widest perspective – the perspective of space. I urge people in charge, particularly the United States government, to continue space based research and to make the study of water and the preservation of life the highest priority. We must commit NOW, we must get everyone exited about its critical importance and we must keep studying forever.”

Climate Change and the NASA budget.

Although the Space Shuttle program has been terminated, according to Sharon Kleyne, NASA Launch Services are not confined to the Space Shuttle and have not been cut. NASA’s EOS (Earth Observation Satellite) program remains fully funded and one EOS satellite recently sent back its three billionth photograph of the Earth. Other countries and private interests now have the capacity to launch scientific satellites and NASA is providing money for private satellite launches.

Sharon Kleyne believes that because these programs are so critical that the US government – the most influential entity on Earth – must take the long-term global lead in committing to, funding and implementing them. Failure to do this could doom the planet and everything on it that is good and worth preserving.

NASA budget highlights:

The 2011 NASA budget is up slightly at $ 18.7 billion, from 2010.

26.3% of NASA’s budget ($ 5 billion) is in the “Science” category.

“Science” includes Astrophysics, Earth Science (36% of the Science budget), Heliophysics, James Webb Space Telescope and Planetary Science.

The Science budget slightly exceeds the Space Operations budget (25.4%)

Space Operations has been cut drastically ($ 6.1 billion to $ 4.3 billion), due to ending the Space Shuttle program. However, Space Technology has been increased ($ 275 million to $ 1.1 billion).

World Water Crisis, Water Wars: Living Water International Guests on Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water Radio Show

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) November 04, 2011

On October 31, 2011, Sharon Kleyne, water advocate, Founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research and Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water host, interviewed Jerry Wiles, President Emeritus of Living Water International. Mr. Wiles’ non-profit, faith based organization is dedicated to providing water wells in third world countries.

In much of the world, according to Sharon Kleyne and Jerry Wiles, lack of safe and abundant fresh water causes dry air and numerous dehydration diseases, including dry eye leading to blindness. Water issues may also be responsible for lack of economic development and education and lowered status of women.

The interview may be played in podcast on World Talk Radio, Voice America, Green Talk Network, Apple iTunes, and naturestears.com. and Amazon.com

Living Water International was founded 21 years ago and continues to save and improve lives in the third world. They have completed 11,000 water well projects, with 1,387 in 2010 and 1,600 projected for 2011.

This faith based, non-profit organization works closely with the energy industry, which frequently donates drilling equipment. An energy industry employee on Living Water’s board developed a portable drilling rig for them that can be carried in a Jeep or canoe and runs on two gasoline engines. These are now in use all over the world.

Living Water works with the host nation (usually in Africa, Asia and South and Central America) and also assists in setting up local water committees (mostly women). Community wells may be located near a school or hospital and are maintained by the local committee, which also provides education on sanitation practices such as hand washing to prevent numerous dry eye diseases, including dry eye.

Jerry Wiles discussed bio-sand filters, developed by Living Water. It uses a barrel, gravity and layers of gravel, sand and charcoal to purify water. Water may be contaminated from human and animal waste, made worse by frequent drought. The result is dehydration disease, dry eye, cholera, diarrhea and malaria, leading to preventable blindness and deaths.

Water shortages in the United States

Sharon asked about charitable water wells in poor areas of the United States, noting that fresh water and agricultural water are becoming scarce. Jerry Wiles said that Living Water hasn’t yet drilled in the US and observed that in the US, the push for indoor pluming and reliable municipal water began 150 years ago with huge benefits. India and China are attempting to achieve that. Both have plenty of water but far too many people and much of their water is polluted.

The average American uses 100 gallons of water a day. The average third world villager uses less than five gallons a day. In villages with no wells, women walk an average of 3.17 miles a day to obtain fresh water.

Sharon asked about water for animals, mentioning the Mara River in Kenya and the diminishing water supply for migrating animals. Jerry Wiles observed that drought in the third world can be catastrophic for everyone. Living Water wells are mostly used for human consumption but could be used for livestock.

Sharon Kleyne Talks with Gretchen Twill of Devi Tea about the Benefits of Tea Drinking

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) November 11, 2011

On September 19, 2011, Gretchen Twill, Founder of Devi Tea, was interviewed by Sharon Kleyne on her show Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water about the benefits of tea drinking to reduce stress and improve health. The interview may be heard any time on Voice America, Apple iTunes, Green Talk Network, VoiceAmerica and Amazon.com.

Gretchen Twill lives in Medford Oregon. Devi Tea is an importer, seller and wholesale distributor of teas and tea blends from around the world. The company was founded eight years ago.

Tea has been around as a beverage drink for at least 5,000 years. It is the second most consumed liquid after water. The Chinese are believed to be the first to drink tea as part of their culture, and they developed several brewing methods still used today.

In the late 1500s, when most drinking water was unsafe, people in Europe drank mostly beer and wine. Coffee and tea were introduced in Europe at that time by the Dutch, who brought it from China. Tea gained rapid popularity because being boiled, tea water was safe to drink and the beverage was not intoxicating.

True teas are all brewed with water from the leaves of a plant called Camillia sinese. The difference is in the curing of the leaves and the method of brewing. The true teas are black tea, green tea, yellow tea, white tea, orange tea, oolong tea and pu’er tea. Getchen Twill and Devi Tea imports and sells all true teas.

Gretchen Twill notes that true teas, and teas blended from true tea (such as Earl Gray or Darjeeling) are high in anti-oxidants. Tea drinking tends to be relaxing and stress reducing, however, true teas contain a small amount of caffeine, to which some people are sensitive. People desiring to restrict their caffeine intake should drink herbal teas. Coffee contains more caffeine per serving than tea, however, tea contains more caffeine per pound of dry weight than coffee (tea is more diluted). .

Gretchen Twill and Devi Tea recommend loose leaf tea because Ms. Twill believes that tea bags take away flavor and may add their own slight flavor. Tea bags also substantially increase the price of tea. In loose leaf tea, nearly all cost goes to the tea. If you prefer tea bags, by all means, use them. Loose leaf tea may either be whole leaf or broken leaf.

The latest tea fad is ready-to-drink bottled tea, sold by Lipton, Snapple and many others.

Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water Announces Growing World Blindness Rate Could be Preventable through Diet and Water

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) December 30, 2011

Sharon Kleyne, host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water radio talk show and Founder of Bio-Logic Aqua Research, recently interviewed Alan Taylor, PhD, of the Tufts University Laboratory for Nutrition and Vision Research. The topic was the growing world blindness rate. Dr. Taylor offered some simple, proactive nutrition suggestions for preventing blindness.

The interview may be heard on-demand on World Talk Radio, Voice America, Green Talk Network, Apple iTunes and Twitter.

According to Sharon Kleyne, the blindness rate is growing worldwide and in the United States. Leading causes, worldwide, are cataracts (50% of blindness increasing as you age), glaucoma, age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy (increasing in the US), trachoma (a viral infection of the eye), onchocerciasis (or “river blindness,” common in Africa), and leprosy.

There are 42 million blind people in the world, with 1.5 million in the US. An estimated 70% to 80% of blindness is preventable or treatable. In developing countries, where the blindness rate is much higher, the treatable rate is also much higher.

Blindness is increasing In the United States at a lower rate and with less treatable causes. Cataracts remain the #1 cause of blindness (and are easily repaired) but blindness related to air pollution, dry eye, dehydration, obesity and poor diet (such as diabetic retinopathy) is increasing.

Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water Interviews Adetutu Ijose Vital Information about Computers, Health and Computer Eye Strain

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) January 05, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water syndicated radio talk show, recently interviewed Adetutu Ijose, of SOG Consultants, about computer eye strain, computer related health issues and proactive steps to avoid computer health problems.

Adetutu Ijose has 20 years experience in computers and information technology and suffered a life-threatening illness as a direct result of her computer use. She is a prolific writer, with provocative titles such as Eyes, Vision and Computer Use; Computer Related Health Conditions; Cyber Bullying; Computer Use Addiction and Withdrawal; Global Epidemic: Human Abuse of the Computer; Allergies, Asthma and Computers; and Computer Induced Stress.

The interview may be heard on-demand on World Talk Radio, Voice America, Green Talk Network, Apple iTunes and Twitter.

Sharon Kleyne and Adetutu agree that computer use can lead to numerous physical problems, many involving the eyes and tear film. Insulated walls and windows, and fluorescent lighting can also cause health and dry eye problems. Symptoms include dry eye, headaches, sore shoulders and stress. Sharon noted that there are hazards in many professions, such as harvesting in a field or piloting an airplane, and you should always be proactive in protecting yourself.

Adetutu explained that in her case, computer eye strain and dry eye led to numerous other health problems that eventually became life-threatening. Doctors could not correctly diagnose the problem until they were able to trace it back to dry eye and computer use. Adetutu believes that because computer use is unnatural to the human body, especially the eyes, one symptom can set up a chain of symptoms resulting in a health breakdown.

Computer eye strain and dry eye symptoms can begin after only two hours on the computer. If you already have dry eye due to another cause (as 50% of the population does), the chances of developing computer eye strain are even higher. Adetutu notes that 53 million people in the US use PC’s, either for work, personal use or both, and 35 million use the Internet. She adds that video games, TV, Nook and Kindle, and iPhones and iPads also cause computer eye strain because they all involve looking at a screen.

Sharon observed that carpal tunnel syndrome, weight gain, lack of exercise, poor sleep and stress can also be caused by computer use. If you drink sugared drinks instead of water, the effects are magnified.

Adetutu recommends that the computer environment be as natural as possible with some outdoor air. Computer use drastically reduces they eye’s reflexive blink rate (because eyes do not recognize light from the computer screen as bright). You need to make a conscious effort to blink, take frequent breaks, and keep your face and eyes humidified (less blinking results in greater tear film evaporation).

There was a discussion of neurotransmitters, a group of chemicals that enable the transmission of nerve signals (either excitatory or inhibitory). Normal light, according to Adetutu, simulates neurotransmitter activity and thus, normal body functioning. Computer light does not stimulate neurotransmitter activity and tends to deplete the body’s neurotransmitters.

Computer use by children, with their developing brains, should be carefully monitored. If you child uses a computer, pay extra attention to their growth and development, especially their vision. Regular eye exams are critical. Also, make sure they drink enough water and limit their sugar intake.

Adetutu recommends washing the face in the morning because moist, healthy skin transmits light better. She recommends preventing or alleviating dry eye by humidifying the skin around the eyes with water that is pH balanced and biocompatible with the skin’s natural pH, which is slightly acidic (5.5 to 6.5).

Ms. Ijose praised Nature’s Tears EyeMist as the only available natural water mist for the eyes and the only available dry eye product with the correct, skin compatible pH balance (6.49). Sharon reiterated the importance of supplemental eye humidity when working at a computer, noting that even the humidity in the air can become polluted and that personal, hand-held humidifying devices for eyes and skin are increasingly important to proactive health.

World Vision International Interviewed on the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) January 06, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water syndicated radio talk show, recently interviewed Traci Coker of the World Vision Gift Catalogue regarding the catalogue’s wide selection of life-changing gifts that donors may give to impoverished families and children in developing countries, to improve heath and enrich lives.

World Vision representatives have previously appeared on the show several times and reflect Sharon Kleyne’s message about proactive self-help. World Vision also reflects the mission of the charity Mrs. Kleyne founded, the Save-a-Child’s Life Foundation. The interview with Traci Coker may be heard on-demand on World Talk Radio, Voice America, Green Talk Network, Apple iTunes and Twitter.

Traci Coker has been with World Vision International for four years, and works at their world headquarters in Federal Way, Washington, where they have been for over 60 years.

Sharon Kleyne and Ms. Coker agreed that the primary need in developing or third world countries is access to safe and abundant water. Water releases women and children to other activities besides carrying water and drastically reduces infant and child mortality, and preventable blindness. In India, according to Ms. Coker, 4,000 children a day die from dehydration and sanitation diseases, all of which are preventable. Many more are blinded or disabled.

The catalogue began in 1996 as a way to help children, their families and orphans. The gift of a goat ($ 25), which requires very little maintenance, can provide up to 16 cups of milk a day to feed an undernourished child, with milk left over to sell in the marketplace.

Other gifts include: cows, chickens, ducks, art supplies, water, water wells, bed nets, seeds, water pumps, school books, clothing, bicycles, stocking for a fish pond, Bibles, computers, small business loans, and yestoys.

It is possible to purchase part of a larger gift, such as a tractor.

According to Traci Coker, these are all the same gift the gift of hope, opportunity and self-worth.

Everyone who gives a gift receives a small token such as a Christmas ornament, identifying them as a World Vision donor.

World Vision International operates in over 100 countries. When they become involved in assisting a community, they remain for at least 15 years and set up local committees to develop indigenous leaders. They also work with other agencies and organizations to help the community develop and maintain safe water wells, schools, community projects, etc.

New Education about Eye Care for Children on Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) January 11, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water syndicated radio talk show, recently interviewed Marguerite McDonald, MD about pediatric eye care and what every parent should know about preventing low vision and blindness in children. The interview may be heard on-demand on World Talk Radio, Voice America, Green Talk Network and Apple iTunes and Twitter.

Sharon noted that according to the World Health Organization, there are 1.4 million blind children in the world, and many more with low vision. Three-fourths of blind children live in the poorest regions of Africa and Asia, where 80% of blindness is preventable or correctable.

Major causes of childhood blindness in wealthy countries include genetic disorders, and lesions of the optic nerve and higher vision centers. In poor countries, blindness may be caused by measles (preventable), Vitamin A deficiency (preventable), harmful folk remedies (preventable), cataracts (curable), retinopathy of prematurity (curable), glaucoma (treatable), retinoblastoma (the eye usually can’t be saved but the life can) and infections such as conjunctivitis (curable). Causes of low vision include amblyopia (curable), strobismus (curable), nearsightedness (correctable) and developmental problems.

Sharon Kleyne, Marguerite McDonald and the World Health Organization agree that education is the key to preventing low vision and blindness in children. Frequent eye exams and the availability of medical care are most effective when parents are educated about the need for eye screenings and exams, and about what to look for in a child’s visual development.

Dr. McDonald believes that eyes are the most important organ in relating to the outside world. And yet there is much less education available on eye care than with most other health areas. Sharon Kleyne agreed. According to studies by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, sponsor of the “EyeSmart” campaign, Americans know virtually nothing about eye care.

Marguerite McDonald noted that the better hospitals routinely test infant vision. If there are no problems, they probably won’t mention it. All babies should have a pediatric eye exam because with conditions such as lazy eye, pediatric cataract (present in one birth in 50) or glaucoma, the earlier they are caught, the easier they are to correct. These conditions all cause the eye to send incorrect messages to the brain. When the brain begins ignoring messages from the bad eye, correction becomes far more difficult

Sharon asked about eye and brain communication. According to Dr. McDonald, the retina is actually part of the brain. Eye-to-brain pathways begin developing immediately after birth and it is critical that the baby’s eyes send correct messages. She notes that vision is, in large part, learned behavior (the ability to interpret what you see and to fill in the blanks), and poor vision in childhood can lead to learning and behavior problems.

Dr. McDonald notes that most schools have vision screening programs and are able to detect poor vision because they need only a simple eye chart. Diseases such as dry eye or glaucoma are much harder to detect and a doctor is required. However, an educated and observant parent is always the first line of defense.

Breakthrough Discoveries in Water Research and Water Properties from Sharon Kleyne Hour

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) February 16, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research and host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water syndicated radio talk show, recently interviewed physicist David Gann, Co-Founder of D and Y Laboratories, about water research, water properties, molecular water behavior, and the beneficial properties “double-helix water.” The interview may be heard on-demand on World Talk Radio, Voice America, Green Talk Network and Apple iTunes.

Sharon Kleyne’s belief that far more research in needed on water’s properties, molecular structure and behavior, has long been a central theme of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water (For example, it was recently discovered that under certain extreme conditions, water can remain liquid despite very low temperatures). This knowledge could have has many human health implications.

David Gann is co-founder of D and Y Laboratories, which commercially produces and markets “double-helix water.” His partner, Shui-Yin Lo, PhD, discovered this unique water 18 years ago while conducting water research into molecular and catalytic water properties on a nuclear magnetic resonator.

Dr. Lo began developing a mathematical model to predict how water changes its behavior and molecule structure under varying extreme conditions. The combining of mathematics, chemistry and physics to create a predictive model originated with the Swiss physicist Peter Debye in the early 20th Century, to whom Mr. Gann makes frequent references.

Dr. Shui-Yin Lo worked with distilled water because there are no outside influences on its molecular structure. Sharon Kleyne noted that water is a solvent that picks up molecules of nearly every substance with which it comes into contact, and that distilled water is never found in nature and must be artificially created.

Debye had done some experimentation with salt in distilled water, where the salt was increasingly diluted. By empirical experimentation he was able to plot the separation of positive and negative ions in the sodium and chloride during the dilution process.

Continuing this water research, Shui-Yin Lo discovered that as dilution continued, the separated positive and negative salt ions had an increasingly difficult time finding each other to balance themselves out. Dr. Lo discovered (in 1996) that at an extremely high level of dilution, with salt (and later platinum) as a catalyst, water entered into a previously undiscovered phase (in addition to ice, liquid and vapor).

Eventually, some water molecules started clustering into minute particles or helical strings which, unlike ice, were solid at room temperatures. The particles are only about 30 nanometers wide (a nanometer is one billionth of a meter).

These particles were named, “stable water clusters,” or, commercially, Double-Helix Water.

The water’s beneficial potential was revealed when an insect wandered into water containing the particles and was killed. Shui- Yin Lo took the water and the insect to UCLA Medical School, where they quickly discovered that the water containing the stable water clusters had numerous potential applications and benefits for human health. Double-helix water is especially beneficial in stimulating “t-cells,” which are protective cells that ward off illness.

Sharon Kleyne Reports on Eye Misting- an Entirely New Approach to Dry Eye Relief

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) February 20, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, Founder of Bio-Logic Aqua Research, has discovered a new approach to dry eye relief and treatment: an all-natural all-water mist applied to the air in front of the eyes rather than directly into the eyes. The eye mist is absorbed directly into the tear film without the inconvenience, mess or blurred vision associated with commercial eye drops.

Mrs. Kleyne is best knows as host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water syndicated radio talk show.

With dry eye symptoms now the number one reason for eye doctor visits in the United States, one of Sharon Kleyne’s personal missions, with the support of thousands of eye doctors across the United States, is to educate the public about dry eye prevention and the tear film.

According to LASIK pioneer Marguerite McDonald, MD, a frequent Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water guest, occasional dry eye symptoms, left untreated, could lead to severe chronic dry eye, which for some may be debilitating and even life-altering. Dry eye can also lead to corneal ulceration, impaired vision and numerous eye diseases.

Researchers have long known that the simplest and most natural method of soothing dry eyes is to add two-to-five microliters (millionths of a liter) of all-natural water to the tear film. A commercially viable method of administering water in these minute quantities was discovered in 1999, when Bio-Logic Aqua Research developed an application method that supplements tear film moisture with an all-natural, ultra-fine, pH balanced (6.49) water mist, applied with a personal, hand-held misting device.

Eye misting instantly soothes dry eyes and is convenient and easy to apply even with unsteady hands. Unlike eye drops, users don’t need to touch their eyelids, tilt back their heads or aim droppers. A two-second eye mist application allows the tear film to absorb exactly the amount required, and the mist does not flood the tear film or disrupt the natural tear film structure.

All-water eye misting instantly soothes computer eye strain and can be done while wearing contact lenses. The eye mist is 100% safe and, unlike eye drops, may be applied as often as desired. There are no additives, chemicals, preservatives or propellants. The eye mist will not cause eye make-up to run and has a four-year shelf life.

Sharon Kleyne cautions that for maximum benefit, the eye mist must be correctly applied. The most common error, she explains, is attempting to apply the mist like an eye drop and aiming directly into the eyes. Applying too much mist can negate some of the benefit.

The objective, according to Sharon Kleyne, is simply to create a swirl of moisture around the face, like the humidity in the air, from which the eyes absorb as much water as they need. Brief blinking is OK.

Sharon Kleyne, Founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research, Announces New Commitment to Water Research

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) February 28, 2012

“Water is the basis of all life,” says Sharon Kleyne, Founder of Bio-Logic Aqua Research, Inc. “In our changing global environment, water research is critical to understanding and protecting our finite global water supply. We must discover more.”

“Water supply,” according to Sharon Kleyne, includes not only oceans, lakes and rivers but the water in the air and in the ground.

Mrs. Kleyne has discovered that a drop in the average annual humidity, or an increase in air pollution, can cause dry eye, dry skin, difficulty breathing and even effect the mortality rate. According to Mrs. Kleyne, dehydration symptoms and diseases, caused by what she calls “water starvation,” are becoming a global health crisis.

According to the Wall Street Journal (March 10, 2006, The Structure of Water Isnt Certain After All), “Water is the most abundant substance on Earth and the basis of life. (This) compound, whose structure has been studied (by chemists) for centuries, is now beginning to intrigue researchers once again. The same article states that Stanford University scientists have recommended expanded water research into the physical structure and health benefits of water.

Since the beginning of life on Earth, according to Sharon Kleyne, nature has provided water, the “Breath of Life.” Yet water is too often overlooked as a subject for scientific research. The United States Government, as of 2011, still does not recommend one single glass of water on the official “Nutritional Food Pyramid” (now called the “Food Plate).

Dehydration, Sharon Kleyne has concluded, could be a factor in virtually all disease symptoms. The human body is 80% water, nothing in the body can function without water, and the water must be continually replenished.

Not only has our physical environment become more dehydrating, says Mrs. Kleyne, but few people drink even the minimum recommended eight to ten glasses of water per day. In many parts of the world, eight to ten glasses of clean water are simply not available. Air quality is critical to hydration because skin and eyes obtain a significant percentage of their water by absorption from the air.

Sharon Kleyne has devoted her business life to water. She and her company are committed to water research and health, worldwide public education regarding the need for fresh water, and the development of personal, portable, hand-held water mist devices to humidify dry eyes and dry skin. On April 28, 2009, Mrs. Kleyne was awarded a patent, in the United States and elsewhere, on the use of a water mist to the eyes’ tear film, to alleviate dry eye symptoms.

Next for Sharon Kleyne: Global distribution (through licensing partnerships) of her company’s personal hand-held water misting devices for dry eyes, dry skin and emergency first aid.

Sharon Kleyne Announces New Discoveries to Soothe Dry Eye Discomfort

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) March 01, 2012

According to Sharon Kleyne, Founder of Bio-Logic Aqua Research, Inc., dry eye discomfort is increasingly prevalent worldwide due to global climate and temperature change, diet, widespread computer use, air pollution, population growth and “climate controlled” indoor environments. Dry eye discomfort occurs when too much water is lost (usually to evaporation) from the protective natural tear film covering the eye’s exposed portions (the cornea and sclera).

The tear film is 99% water, Sharon Kleyne explains, some of which is obtained by absorption from the air (provided the air is humid and clean). When the tear film loses water, the main symptom is discomfort resulting largely from over-concentration of tear film salt (electrolyte). Normally, tear film salt/electrolyte is diluted by the water (tears contain far less salt than perspiration, which is why perspiration that drips into the eyes causes discomfort).

Dry eye discomfort may be experienced as itching, burning, eyestrain, blurred vision, headache, sleepiness, puffy or water eyes, and/or a “grainy” sensation. In cases of severe chronic dry eye, the discomfort can be debilitating and life changing.

Researchers have long known that the simplest and most natural dry eye relief – to soothe and re-hydrate dry eyes – is to replace the missing tear film water and thereby dilute the salt. The addition of only one-to-two microliters (millionths of a liter) of water per second to the tear film’s middle (“aqueous” or water) layer, should provide sufficient dilution to soothe dry eye discomfort (Mathers, WD, MD, Tear Film and Treatment of Dry Eye Disease, RxSchool, 2005, p. 13).

A method of achieving dry eye relief by applying supplemental water to the tear film’s aqueous layer in minute quantities, was invented by Bio-Logic Aqua Research in 2002 and subsequently marketed as Nature’s Tears

Sharon Kleyne Announces New Education about Dog Dry Eye or Dog KCS

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) March 08, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research and host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water, has been researching dry eye and eye hydration for two decades. A lifelong pet owner, she is aware that “dog dry eye” (also known as KCS or kerato-conjunctivitis sicca) can pose a serious health risk to pets and she has offered some easy suggestions to help keep your pet’s eyes healthy and hydrated.

Dry eye is far more common among dogs than cats (cats do, however, develop dry eye). According the Sharon Kleyne, dogs are extremely curious, are constantly poking their face into underbrush and often walk with their nose close to the ground, leaving their eyes susceptible to dust, twigs, insects, etc. Other dry eye causes in pets include eye injuries, certain medications (sulfa) and genetic predisposition (Pethealth101).

Dry eye symptoms in dogs include pawing or rubbing of the eyes (which can cause further injury), eye redness, a dull, dry look to the cornea (the clear part of the eye), ocular discharge (gummy, stringy or crusty), hypersensitivity to light, eyelid twitching, inflamed eyelids, squinting and blinking, corneal ulceration and impaired vision (Pethealth101).

Breeds believes especially susceptible to dog dry eye include West Highland White Terrier, American Cocker Spaniel, English Bulldog, Pug, Pekingese, Yorkshire Terrier, Miniature Schnauzer, Boston Terrier, Dachshund, Chihuahua, German Shepherd Dog, Doberman Pinscher, English Springer Spaniel, Lhasa Apso and Shih-Tzu. Females and neutered males are more commonly affected, especially female Westies (PetWave).

There are numerous commercial medications for pet dry eye that can be obtained from the veterinarian or pet store. If there is a secondary eye infection, that also must be cleared up. Crusty discharge should be wiped away with a clean, wet, warm compress (Pethealth101).

According to Sharon Kleyne, dry eye occurs when the natural tear film that protects the cornea, lubricates the eyelids and transmits light, loses its normal water content, which should be about 99%. Researchers have long known that the simplest and most natural way to soothe dry eyes is to restore the lost tear film water. In most dry eye cases in humans, that involves adding only about two-to-five millionths of a liter (micro-liters) of water to the tear film’s middle or aqueous layer (Mathers).

A viable method and product for administering supplemental water to the tear film in micro-liter quantities has been developed by Sharon Kleyne’s Bio-Logic Aqua Research Center. The product is Nature’s Tears

Affordable Health Care Suggestions from Health Advocate Sharon Kleyne - the Answer to ObamaCare

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) March 29, 2012

With the national debate over the Affordable Health Care Act (Obama Care) and the rising cost of medical services, health advocate Sharon Kleyne is concerned that too many people rely solely on their doctors to make health choices for them.

Sharon Kleyne is founder of Bio-Logic Aqua Research, Inc. and host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water radio talk show.

Mrs. Kleyne’s personal mission, in her business, on her radio show, in her writings and in personal appearances, is to encourage everyone to develop a personal program of health education and proactive self-help. This approach, she believes, could save billions of dollars in health care expenses.”

“When health symptoms arise,” Mrs. Kleyne explains, “before running to the medicine cabinet, try to learn everything you can about the symptoms. Often, they can be treated through diet and lifestyle changes. If you do go to the doctor, be fully prepared, consider the doctor as a consultant, and take full responsibility for treatment decisions.”

The good news, according to Mrs. Kleyne, is that if you begin each day with an attitude that you will do everything in your power during that day to make yourself healthier, you shouldn’t have to run to the medicine cabinet nearly as often and should spend considerably less money on health care.

“No two people are alike,” Sharon Kleyne explains, “and your doctor has no way of knowing, for example, if you get enough sleep, are under high stress, work in an office with poor lighting, can’t tolerate broccoli, have adult ADHD, forget to take medication, or tend to self-medicate excessively.”

Most doctors (but not all) are extremely pressed for time and frequently rely on you to volunteer important details (a personal health log can be invaluable for this). “Nobody knows your own body better than you,” says Mrs. Kleyne. “That’s why medical treatment plans should never flow from doctor to patient but should be a joint decision tailored to your personal needs and peculiarities.”

Proactive self-help, according to Sharon Kleyne, begins when you get up each morning. “I like to view myself as in training for the Personal Health Olympics,” she says, “and every morning is the day of the big race.”

The first thing Mrs. Kleyne does when she gets up is drink a large glasses of warm water because she has learned that the human body dehydrates during sleep. After that, she follows a daily program of healthy eating (tailored to her own nutritional needs) and drinking at least eight glasses of water per day (some people require more). She considers exercise, stress reduction and adequate sleep to be essential. Also essential is the knowledge, at the end of each day, that she accomplished something worthwhile.

Mrs. Kleyne advocates maintaining a daily log of sleep, exercise, food intake, medications and physical complaints and bringing the log with you, along with a list of questions, when you see the doctor.

A major concern of Mrs. Kleyne’s is the overuse of medication. “For example,” she says, “the best energy drink by far is water. It is also the healthiest, most natural and cheapest. There is no reason to spend money on drinks that supply fake energy when water is free and available.”

Mrs. Kleyne also advocates freedom of choice for self-education. “There’s a wealth of information on lifestyle, diet and health on my company’s website (http://www.biologicaqua.com),” she states. “There are also numerous excellent medical websites, alternative medicine websites and diet and exercise websites, plus many fantastic books. In the Information Age, educating yourself has never been easier.”
