Web Hosting Directory B10WH Features Article About Best Blogging Software

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 23, 2006

Best 10 Web Hosting ( http://www.best10webhosting.com ) featured an article named “Best Blogging Software”. The author Miles Evans reviewed blogging platforms and explained the differencies between them.

The remotely hosted blogs featured in the article are Blooger, Typead, Xanda, Blogsome, Blogster, MindSay and Multiply, all under dot-com domain extension.

Mr. Evans explains their history, how do they work, their search engine ranking and options they offer to bloggers.

The Article begins with Blogger-dot-com’s review that says it is probably the most popular blogging platform. The B10WH directory targets your attention to the fact that Blogger.com users are allowed to host their blog under their own hosting account under their own domain name.

Article also explains self hosted and and community based bloging platforms. Those reviewed in this section are WordPress (WP), MovableType.org and Textpattern.

“WordPress originally began as a mod of an older open source package known as B2. WP is MT’s biggest competition and is often the bain of endless WordPress vs Movabletype style threads around the internet” says the author. According to Mr. Evans, who writes essays on organic SEO, SEM, development and other equally fascinating subjects, although launched just over a year or so ago “WordPress has really taken the blog sphere by storm”. The reason for WP’s fast growing popularity is the free under GNU licensing. It comes with many features users can not find with other blog software applications. Other key advantages of WP are it is easy-to-instal, to get blogging for novice users and the very large and helpful community of users.

The third blog platform explained in the article – “Community Based Blogging Software” – features applications and systems such as Slash.com, Scoop, Drupal, Livejournal and PHP Nuke. The author points readers attention to blog software comparison chart.

The B10WH (Best 10 Web Hosting) directory published hundreds of web hosting, webmaster and web development articles since 2003.

About B10WH:

Oeneo Announces http://www.TCAfreecorks.com : Handy Site for Info About TCA and the Uniqueness of the DIAM Cork

NAPA, Calif. (PRWEB) July 9, 2008

As part of their effort to explain the phenomenon of TCA in corks, Oeneo has developed a sensory exercise kit where different types of corks, treated differently, can be soaked and sniffed to clearly demonstrate first-hand the differences between the various methods of cleaning cork and to see if you can detect TCA in a cork. This kit can be ordered through the new website as well.

TCAfreecorks.com http://www.TCAfreecorks.com is a new website which explains Diam’s unique answer to the problem of cork taint. Visitors to the site can read the research, send for a kit to test their own aromatic prowess (can you detect TCA?), study a diagram of the TCA molecule, take a tour of the Diam plant in San Vicente De Alcantra in Estremadura, Spain, read questions & answers on the topic and read comments from wineries using Diam. There is a downloadable section so that materials such as the TCA molecule can be clearly printed out.

What’s Diam? DIAM is the only cork closure available on the international market today which has no detectable levels of TCA. Only one innovative cork producer has spent millions of euros–including building a plant dedicated to producing a specialized cork–to provide a solution to the unpredictability of conventional cork. The Diam cork is made with the proprietary Diamant process, developed over seven years; it uses super-critical carbon dioxide to ‘purify’ corks of TCA and 150 other noxious molecules. The Diamant process (shortened to Diam as the cork-product name) is a specialized adaptation of the system used to take caffeine out of coffee beans and pesticides out of rice for the food industry.

The supercritical carbon dioxide, in a state ‘between’ liquid and gas, acts as a non-toxic solvent to remove TCA molecules and other compounds–from cork granules. The cork granules are then molded into a ‘technological’ or agglomerate cork a blend of cork, micro-spheres and a food-grade binding agent.

Diam Closures USA is the Napa-based arm of the France-based firm Oeneo Bouchage. Oeneo has a full line of closures which are made using its proprietary Diamant

ThinkWeb3 and SocialAdMX Sponsors New Advisory Service about Internet Opportunities

Louisville, KY (PRWEB) May 31, 2011

Investors in ThinkWeb3, http://www.thinkweb3.com, and SocialAdMX, http://www.socialadmx.com, are sponsoring a new, sharply focused investment commentary service. HighGainBlog.com focuses providing commentary and information that can minimize the risk in an uncertain business climate. The news service does not make recommendations.

The reader will be interested in new opportunities, particularly those with moderated risk and high value, said Stephen E. Arnold, publisher and owner of ArnoldIT.com, an independent consulting and engineering firm. Too much of the investment information is fuzzy. We want to be clear and direct in stories that are crisp and brief.

The online publication is available without charge and publishes Monday through Friday. HighGainBlog.com is produced by ArnoldIT.com, publishers of Beyond Search (a news service focused on next generation search and content processing) and Inteltrax (a news service tracking the big data and analytics markets).

ArnoldIT.com has tapped Michael Onghai, CFA (http://www.linkedin.com/in/valueinvestor) as an editorial advisor. Onghai has compiled an impressive track record, including founding and Building Stock Sheet (acquired by regent group) and 123Jump. In addition, he was the second software developer hired at Geocities and has worked at a number of investment funds. Topics covered in the HighGainBlog information service include:

Business strategies of startups
International opportunities with a focus on the Pacific Rim
Mobile startups
Social media

Onghai, one of the worlds most prescient financial analysts, said: The HighGainBlog news service fills a gap, particularly with regard to social and mobile media. Most of the services mention a startup, comment on the features of the software, and then provide a URL. HighGainBlog attracted my attention and that of the exciting ThinkWeb3 and SocialAdMX because the content is sharp, short, to the point, and includes a critical observation. I dont have time to read thirty pages of marketing collateral or consume every story in the financial press. HighGainBlog provides the short content hit I need and want.

The Web information service will include articles, features, and links to important business information resources. In addition, the HighGainBlog.com editorial team, http://arnoldit.com/wordpress/writers/, will offer critical comments about companies and strategies. The stories will not offer investment advice. Sharon Kleyne Talks with Gretchen Twill of Devi Tea about the Benefits of Tea Drinking

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) November 11, 2011

On September 19, 2011, Gretchen Twill, Founder of Devi Tea, was interviewed by Sharon Kleyne on her show Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water about the benefits of tea drinking to reduce stress and improve health. The interview may be heard any time on Voice America, Apple iTunes, Green Talk Network, VoiceAmerica and Amazon.com.

Gretchen Twill lives in Medford Oregon. Devi Tea is an importer, seller and wholesale distributor of teas and tea blends from around the world. The company was founded eight years ago.

Tea has been around as a beverage drink for at least 5,000 years. It is the second most consumed liquid after water. The Chinese are believed to be the first to drink tea as part of their culture, and they developed several brewing methods still used today.

In the late 1500s, when most drinking water was unsafe, people in Europe drank mostly beer and wine. Coffee and tea were introduced in Europe at that time by the Dutch, who brought it from China. Tea gained rapid popularity because being boiled, tea water was safe to drink and the beverage was not intoxicating.

True teas are all brewed with water from the leaves of a plant called Camillia sinese. The difference is in the curing of the leaves and the method of brewing. The true teas are black tea, green tea, yellow tea, white tea, orange tea, oolong tea and pu’er tea. Getchen Twill and Devi Tea imports and sells all true teas.

Gretchen Twill notes that true teas, and teas blended from true tea (such as Earl Gray or Darjeeling) are high in anti-oxidants. Tea drinking tends to be relaxing and stress reducing, however, true teas contain a small amount of caffeine, to which some people are sensitive. People desiring to restrict their caffeine intake should drink herbal teas. Coffee contains more caffeine per serving than tea, however, tea contains more caffeine per pound of dry weight than coffee (tea is more diluted). .

Gretchen Twill and Devi Tea recommend loose leaf tea because Ms. Twill believes that tea bags take away flavor and may add their own slight flavor. Tea bags also substantially increase the price of tea. In loose leaf tea, nearly all cost goes to the tea. If you prefer tea bags, by all means, use them. Loose leaf tea may either be whole leaf or broken leaf.

The latest tea fad is ready-to-drink bottled tea, sold by Lipton, Snapple and many others.

JustArticles.com Reveals the Truth about the Role of Blogs in Internet Marketing and Web Site Promotion

Columbus, IN (PRWEB) January 27, 2006

Blogs are taking the Internet by storm and for good reason. Blogs make it easy to publish content to the web on a regular basis and the Internet is all about content. By publishing articles on a regular basis to a blog webmasters increase the overall size of their site, which contributes to better search engine placement and page rank.

No one knows web content like the blog design experts at http://www.JustArticles.com. According to Dustin Cannon of JustArticles.com, blogs are the perfect content management solution because they allow for effortless publishing and are indexed by the search engines quickly. In addition to keyword articles written on demand a large part of our web content business is integrated content based Internet marketing which primarily includes custom blog design and publishing as well as press release and article distribution. We are finding that the results for our clients who implement custom search engine optimized blogs are nothing short of amazing. Their article pages are being indexed very quickly resulting in new search engine results and consequently more traffic. Blogs are really an essential part of our content based Internet marketing packages, says Dustin.

Although JustArticles.com offers blog designs using software from Blogger.com as well as wordpress.org, JustArticles.com recommends and prefers to use Googles Blogger.com software for custom blog designs because of the ability to create custom templates that perfectly match a clients web site. According to Dustin, Blogger.com blogs create are super easy to use and create clean, easily optimized HTML pages and are fully customizable in contrast to some of the other blog design applications that are PHP based and only allow for head and footer customization.

Initially, some of our clients express concern over Blogger.com blogs in response to information they have seen in SEO and webmaster forums about the limitations of Blogger.com. Aside from the ability to easily create categories, Blogger.com does not have any limitations from my perspective. In fact, the blog design experts at JustArticles.com can create blogs using Blogger.com that have categories. One of the concerns also has to do with rumors that Google will shut down Blogger.com blogs without reason. The problem with this concern is that most people have not heard the whole story and probably do not really understand the problem. If anyone has had their blog shut down it is maybe because they were involved in unacceptable marketing practices like link spamming. Regardless of blog software you use if you are operating a blog or site with nothing but affiliate links and no real content then your site may be penalized by not being indexed so the end result is the same. This can happen regardless of what blog software a site is using. Google appears to be cracking down on these practices and for good reason. Web site that are filled with nothing but affiliate links and pay per ads click run the risk of not being indexed by the search engines. There is nothing wrong with affiliate links and pay per click. They just cannot be the sole purpose of a site or the site will not be successful. That is why blogs are so effective. Blog owners who are playing by the rules have nothing to worry about. Blogs are for publishing content that is informative and valuable to web search visitors. If webmasters will focus on doing that then the traffic will take care of itself. Publish content to your blog and this will bring in the traffic. Doing Internet marketing right leads to long term success and profits.

Since taking over JustArticles.com in January 2005, Dustin has taken the site from a page rank of 1 to a 5. Traffic and sales are exploding for this king of web content. Maybe that is why they can guarantee client’s success with their content based Internet marketing programs. “We essentially promise increased traffic to our clients within 90 days by a money back guarantee.” says Dustin. “It is this desire to provide value to our clients that has given us the edge.”

Bio Logic Aqua Research Announces Education About the Eye - Natures Universal Lens

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) November 30, 2011

Sharon Kleyne, Founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research, announces new education about the eyes and the development of online resources for dry eye suffers.

Did you know that when you look at a computer screen, your brain does not recognize it as a bright light? As a result, excessive computer use could devastate your eyesight, causing eye discomfort, blurred vision, fatigue, headache, chronic dry eye, computer vision syndrome, poor eye health, glaucoma, stress, depression, etc.

Sharon Kleyne, founder of Bio-Logic Aqua Research, has been researching and interviewing in the medical field for over a decade, to learn more about the global vision crisis. She has developed critical new information about the connection between eyes, computers and the brain.

Sharon is adamant that computers can be safe If the user is educated!

Sharon Kleyne has a unique ability to discover new information and make it easily understood and easily applied. She has at her (and your) disposal the full resources of the Bio-Logic Aqua Research Center that she founded, and the resources of the Sharon Kleyne Hour radio talk show, where she has interviewed many of the worlds leading health care and eye health researchers.

What really happens when you stare at a computer?

Redness and squinting are often misinterpreted by others and can affect your interpersonal and professional life.

Marguerite McDonald, MD

Your eyes are the only exposed body part not protected by skin. They are VERY vulnerable.

Robert Latkany, MD

Vision is a learned behavior, like walking, that needs to be nurtured.

Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water Interviews Adetutu Ijose Vital Information about Computers, Health and Computer Eye Strain

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) January 05, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water syndicated radio talk show, recently interviewed Adetutu Ijose, of SOG Consultants, about computer eye strain, computer related health issues and proactive steps to avoid computer health problems.

Adetutu Ijose has 20 years experience in computers and information technology and suffered a life-threatening illness as a direct result of her computer use. She is a prolific writer, with provocative titles such as Eyes, Vision and Computer Use; Computer Related Health Conditions; Cyber Bullying; Computer Use Addiction and Withdrawal; Global Epidemic: Human Abuse of the Computer; Allergies, Asthma and Computers; and Computer Induced Stress.

The interview may be heard on-demand on World Talk Radio, Voice America, Green Talk Network, Apple iTunes and Twitter.

Sharon Kleyne and Adetutu agree that computer use can lead to numerous physical problems, many involving the eyes and tear film. Insulated walls and windows, and fluorescent lighting can also cause health and dry eye problems. Symptoms include dry eye, headaches, sore shoulders and stress. Sharon noted that there are hazards in many professions, such as harvesting in a field or piloting an airplane, and you should always be proactive in protecting yourself.

Adetutu explained that in her case, computer eye strain and dry eye led to numerous other health problems that eventually became life-threatening. Doctors could not correctly diagnose the problem until they were able to trace it back to dry eye and computer use. Adetutu believes that because computer use is unnatural to the human body, especially the eyes, one symptom can set up a chain of symptoms resulting in a health breakdown.

Computer eye strain and dry eye symptoms can begin after only two hours on the computer. If you already have dry eye due to another cause (as 50% of the population does), the chances of developing computer eye strain are even higher. Adetutu notes that 53 million people in the US use PC’s, either for work, personal use or both, and 35 million use the Internet. She adds that video games, TV, Nook and Kindle, and iPhones and iPads also cause computer eye strain because they all involve looking at a screen.

Sharon observed that carpal tunnel syndrome, weight gain, lack of exercise, poor sleep and stress can also be caused by computer use. If you drink sugared drinks instead of water, the effects are magnified.

Adetutu recommends that the computer environment be as natural as possible with some outdoor air. Computer use drastically reduces they eye’s reflexive blink rate (because eyes do not recognize light from the computer screen as bright). You need to make a conscious effort to blink, take frequent breaks, and keep your face and eyes humidified (less blinking results in greater tear film evaporation).

There was a discussion of neurotransmitters, a group of chemicals that enable the transmission of nerve signals (either excitatory or inhibitory). Normal light, according to Adetutu, simulates neurotransmitter activity and thus, normal body functioning. Computer light does not stimulate neurotransmitter activity and tends to deplete the body’s neurotransmitters.

Computer use by children, with their developing brains, should be carefully monitored. If you child uses a computer, pay extra attention to their growth and development, especially their vision. Regular eye exams are critical. Also, make sure they drink enough water and limit their sugar intake.

Adetutu recommends washing the face in the morning because moist, healthy skin transmits light better. She recommends preventing or alleviating dry eye by humidifying the skin around the eyes with water that is pH balanced and biocompatible with the skin’s natural pH, which is slightly acidic (5.5 to 6.5).

Ms. Ijose praised Nature’s Tears EyeMist as the only available natural water mist for the eyes and the only available dry eye product with the correct, skin compatible pH balance (6.49). Sharon reiterated the importance of supplemental eye humidity when working at a computer, noting that even the humidity in the air can become polluted and that personal, hand-held humidifying devices for eyes and skin are increasingly important to proactive health.

New Education about Eye Care for Children on Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) January 11, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water syndicated radio talk show, recently interviewed Marguerite McDonald, MD about pediatric eye care and what every parent should know about preventing low vision and blindness in children. The interview may be heard on-demand on World Talk Radio, Voice America, Green Talk Network and Apple iTunes and Twitter.

Sharon noted that according to the World Health Organization, there are 1.4 million blind children in the world, and many more with low vision. Three-fourths of blind children live in the poorest regions of Africa and Asia, where 80% of blindness is preventable or correctable.

Major causes of childhood blindness in wealthy countries include genetic disorders, and lesions of the optic nerve and higher vision centers. In poor countries, blindness may be caused by measles (preventable), Vitamin A deficiency (preventable), harmful folk remedies (preventable), cataracts (curable), retinopathy of prematurity (curable), glaucoma (treatable), retinoblastoma (the eye usually can’t be saved but the life can) and infections such as conjunctivitis (curable). Causes of low vision include amblyopia (curable), strobismus (curable), nearsightedness (correctable) and developmental problems.

Sharon Kleyne, Marguerite McDonald and the World Health Organization agree that education is the key to preventing low vision and blindness in children. Frequent eye exams and the availability of medical care are most effective when parents are educated about the need for eye screenings and exams, and about what to look for in a child’s visual development.

Dr. McDonald believes that eyes are the most important organ in relating to the outside world. And yet there is much less education available on eye care than with most other health areas. Sharon Kleyne agreed. According to studies by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, sponsor of the “EyeSmart” campaign, Americans know virtually nothing about eye care.

Marguerite McDonald noted that the better hospitals routinely test infant vision. If there are no problems, they probably won’t mention it. All babies should have a pediatric eye exam because with conditions such as lazy eye, pediatric cataract (present in one birth in 50) or glaucoma, the earlier they are caught, the easier they are to correct. These conditions all cause the eye to send incorrect messages to the brain. When the brain begins ignoring messages from the bad eye, correction becomes far more difficult

Sharon asked about eye and brain communication. According to Dr. McDonald, the retina is actually part of the brain. Eye-to-brain pathways begin developing immediately after birth and it is critical that the baby’s eyes send correct messages. She notes that vision is, in large part, learned behavior (the ability to interpret what you see and to fill in the blanks), and poor vision in childhood can lead to learning and behavior problems.

Dr. McDonald notes that most schools have vision screening programs and are able to detect poor vision because they need only a simple eye chart. Diseases such as dry eye or glaucoma are much harder to detect and a doctor is required. However, an educated and observant parent is always the first line of defense.

New Education about Dry Eye and the Tear Film that Could Save Your Vision

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) February 10, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water has been researching the dry eye for two decades. On her radio show, since 2007, she has interviewed many of the world’s leading dry eye researchers. With dry eye now the number one reason for eye doctor visits in the United States, one of Sharon Kleyne’s missions is to educate the public about dry eye prevention and the tear film.

In recent decades, according to Sharon Kleyne, dehydration related health issues (caused by a loss of natural moisture), such as dry eye, dry skin, dry mouth, computer eye strain, contact lens dry eye, eye allergies, adult acne, dermatitis, Sjogren’s syndrome and skin and eye cancers, have increased dramatically.

According to one of Sharon Kleyne’s show guests, Lasik pioneer Marguerite McDonald, MD, if left untreated, occasional transient dry eye could lead to more chronic dry eye, which for some people is debilitating and life altering. Dry eye can also lead to corneal ulceration, impaired vision and in extreme cases, blindness.

Sharon Kleyne attributes the global increase in dry eye symptoms to multiple factors. Because of global climate change and increasing air pollution worldwide, exposure to dry, stagnant air and polluted humid air have increased. This exposure is dehydrating to the eyes’ natural tear film, as is exposure to smoke, dust, wind, extreme heat and cold and other outdoor conditions.

Indoors, forced-air heating and cooling, insulated walls and windows, low humidity and cleaning fluids are also dehydrating to eyes. Other contributing environmental factors may be contact lenses, computers, extreme sports, caffeine and alcohol consumption, certain medications, and drinking too little water each day.

Regardless of the cause (there may also be internal systemic causes), dry eye and eye dehydration occurs when water in the microscopically thin tear film covering the eyes’ exposed portions is lost to evaporation, causing an over-concentration of the tear film’s electrolyte (salt) content. Dry eye may be experienced as itching, burning, irritation, blurred vision (especially late in the day), eyestrain, drowsiness, headache, allergies, and/or a “grainy” sensation in the eyes.

Though only about 20 to 30 microns (millionths of a meter) thick, the tear film is amazingly complex. Tear film layers include:

Lipid layer – the thin overlying film of fatty oils (over 100 different fats and oils have been identified), that lubricate the eyelid and slow water evaporation from lower layers. Aqueous layer – the middle and thickest layer that is 99% water. The layer also contains electrolytes, beneficial proteins and enzymes, and bacteria-fighting antibodies. Mucin layer – the bottom layer that adheres the tear film to the ocular surface.

Researchers have long known that the simplest and most natural way to soothe dry irritated eyes is to add two-to-five millionths of a liter (micro-liters) of water to the aqueous layer. A commercially viable method of administering water in such minute quantities was discovered in 1999, when Sharon Kleyne’s Bio-Logic Aqua Research developed Nature’s Tears

New Education about Motorcycle Dry Eye - Sunglasses Are Not Enough

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) February 13, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, Founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research and host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water, has been researching the subject of dry eye for two decades. Mrs. Kleyne is well aware of the dry eye and eye irritation experienced by motorcyclists and ATV riders (a condition known as “motorcycle dry eye”). The Medical Director of Mrs. Kleyne’s Bio-Logic Aqua Research Center, Philip Paden, MD, is an ophthalmologist and former professional motorcycle racer, who has been riding for 40 years and is an authority on motorcycle eye protection and motorcycle dry eye.

The wind in your face! It’s a major reason some people ride motorcycles and many riders are disinclined to do too much to block the wind, beyond wearing eye protection such as sunglasses or face shields (to block wind, bugs and flying rocks).

According to Sharon Kleyne and Dr. Paden, because of wind, solar radiation, exhaust fumes and other factors, motorcycle riding can be extremely dehydrating and to the eyes – even with sunglasses and face shields.

The cause of motorcycle dry eye (or any other dry eye) is too-rapid evaporation of moisture (water) from the eye’s tear film. This could result from (among other things) alcohol and drug consumption (including many medications), pollen, dust, cigarette smoke, air pollution, extreme heat or cold, high elevation, solar radiation, road glare, low humidity, exhaust fumes, not drinking enough water, and WIND IN YOUR FACE! Wind is more drying to the eyes when other factors are also present (for example, if you’ve recently been drinking beer in a smoke-filled bar).

Dry eye symptoms include eye discomfort, burning and itching eyes, blurred vision, headache, eye fatigue, and watery eyes.

Sharon Kleyne and Dr. Paden have the following eye care and eye protection suggestions for motorcyclists and ATV riders:

*Drink 8 to 12 glasses of water a day. Lukewarm water is less likely to make you have to go to the bathroom.

*Apply cold, wet eye compresses after riding, to soothe eye irritation and wash out irritants.

*Take frequent rests stops in which you close your eyes for a few minutes.

*Use eye protection such as face shields and sunglasses (they recommend BOTH!). Road glare and solar radiation are extremely dehydrating and sunglasses help a lot. Face shields trap moisture from your breath to help keep eyes hydrated.

*Avoid cigarette smoke and alcohol.

*Take a long, steamy bath when you get home.

*Avoid rubbing your eyes when they are tired or irritated.

*Don’t forget to blink while you ride (20 to 30 blinks a minute is normal but the intense concentration or motorcycle riding can drop this to 3 or 4 times a minute).

*Carry an all-natural, pure water eye wash or eye mist.

Researchers have long known that the simplest and most natural way to soothe dry eyes is to add two-to-five millionths of a liter (micro-liters) of water to the tear film’s aqueous layer. A commercially viable method of administering water to the tear film in such minute quantities was discovered in 1999. New Education about Swimmer"s and Surfer"s Dry Eye and Pterygium

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) March 07, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research and host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water, has been researching dry eye and eye hydration for two decades. As mother of two competitive swimmers, Mrs. Kleyne is aware of the frequent eye irritation experienced swimmers and surfers, which she calls “swimmers dry eye” and “surfers dry eye.” A condition called pterygium, or “surfer’s eye,” according to Mrs. Kleyne, has a cause similar to surfer’s dry eye.

Although frequently ignored, swimmers and surfers dry eye are common and can become serious. Sharon Kleyne believes that all swimmers and surfers should educate themselves about these conditions and their causes and symptoms, and take common sense measures to protect their eyes.

Swimmer’s dry eye and surfer’s dry eye, according to Mrs. Kleyne, are caused by changes in the microscopically thin tear film that covers and protects the exposed portions of the eye. The tear film is 99% water, Mrs. Kleyne explains. Dry eye symptoms can occur when environmental conditions increase the evaporation rate of the tear film’s water content. Diminished tear film water creates an over-concentration of salt resulting in temporary physical discomfort and blurred vision. Frequent tear film water loss can lead to a self-perpetuating syndrome of chronic severe dry eye (Mathers, WD, MD, Tear Film and Treatment of Dry Eye Disease, RxSchool, 2005). .

Sharon Kleyne has discovered that the chlorine and saline used to treat pool water, and the salt in ocean water, are environmental factors that can affect tear film water content in the eyes of swimmers. In addition, says Mrs. Kleyne, ultra-violet (UV) radiation from the sun can not only dehydrates the tear film and cause dry eye symptoms, it can lead to a condition called “surfer’ s eye” or “pterygium”, in which an unsightly membrane forms over the eyes’ exposed surface. Snow skiers are also susceptible to pterygium but are usually more conscientious about eye protection (Kleyne, SF, “Let’s Wipe Our Surfer’s Eye,” Bio-Logic Aqua Research, 2008).

According to Mrs. Kleyne, the most sensible ways to protect against dry eye caused by swimming and surfing are to, (a) wear eye and sun protection, (b) drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day and more on days that you swim, and (c) make sure your tear film is healthy and hydrated immediately before going into the sun or entering the water, and immediately after leaving the water.

Researchers have long known that the simplest and most natural way to soothe dry eyes and restore lost tear film water is to add two-to-five millionths of a liter (micro-liters) of water to the tear film’s aqueous layer (Mathers, 2005). A commercially viable method of administering water to the tear film in such minute quantities was discovered in 1999. That’s the year that Sharon Kleyne’s Bio-Logic Aqua Research Center developed Nature’s Tears

Sharon Kleyne Announces New Education about Dog Dry Eye or Dog KCS

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) March 08, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research and host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water, has been researching dry eye and eye hydration for two decades. A lifelong pet owner, she is aware that “dog dry eye” (also known as KCS or kerato-conjunctivitis sicca) can pose a serious health risk to pets and she has offered some easy suggestions to help keep your pet’s eyes healthy and hydrated.

Dry eye is far more common among dogs than cats (cats do, however, develop dry eye). According the Sharon Kleyne, dogs are extremely curious, are constantly poking their face into underbrush and often walk with their nose close to the ground, leaving their eyes susceptible to dust, twigs, insects, etc. Other dry eye causes in pets include eye injuries, certain medications (sulfa) and genetic predisposition (Pethealth101).

Dry eye symptoms in dogs include pawing or rubbing of the eyes (which can cause further injury), eye redness, a dull, dry look to the cornea (the clear part of the eye), ocular discharge (gummy, stringy or crusty), hypersensitivity to light, eyelid twitching, inflamed eyelids, squinting and blinking, corneal ulceration and impaired vision (Pethealth101).

Breeds believes especially susceptible to dog dry eye include West Highland White Terrier, American Cocker Spaniel, English Bulldog, Pug, Pekingese, Yorkshire Terrier, Miniature Schnauzer, Boston Terrier, Dachshund, Chihuahua, German Shepherd Dog, Doberman Pinscher, English Springer Spaniel, Lhasa Apso and Shih-Tzu. Females and neutered males are more commonly affected, especially female Westies (PetWave).

There are numerous commercial medications for pet dry eye that can be obtained from the veterinarian or pet store. If there is a secondary eye infection, that also must be cleared up. Crusty discharge should be wiped away with a clean, wet, warm compress (Pethealth101).

According to Sharon Kleyne, dry eye occurs when the natural tear film that protects the cornea, lubricates the eyelids and transmits light, loses its normal water content, which should be about 99%. Researchers have long known that the simplest and most natural way to soothe dry eyes is to restore the lost tear film water. In most dry eye cases in humans, that involves adding only about two-to-five millionths of a liter (micro-liters) of water to the tear film’s middle or aqueous layer (Mathers).

A viable method and product for administering supplemental water to the tear film in micro-liter quantities has been developed by Sharon Kleyne’s Bio-Logic Aqua Research Center. The product is Nature’s Tears

AAPCC and Poison Centers Issue Warning About Concentrated Packets of Laundry Detergent

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) May 17, 2012

The American Association of Poison Control Centers and the experts at Americas 57 poison centers are urging the public, especially parents, to keep highly concentrated single dose packs of laundry detergent up and away from children, according to Debbie Carr, AAPCC executive director.

Poison centers are reporting a recent uptick in calls about exposures of children to laundry detergents packaged in small, single-dose packets. Some young children and toddlers who swallow these small packets have become very ill and have required hospitalization. Other children have gotten the product in their eyes, resulting in significant eye irritation. Some children have been exposed when the product burst after putting it into their mouths.

The following are examples of exposures to children who have become ill from concentrated laundry detergent packets:

Ten minutes after a 20-month-old swallowed a laundry detergent packet, the child developed profuse vomiting, wheezing and gasping and then became unresponsive to even painful stimuli.
A 15-month-old who bit into a pack and swallowed a mouthful had profuse vomiting and, after arrival at a hospital, had to be put on a ventilator for airway protection.
A 17-month-old bit into a packet and then rapidly developed drowsiness, vomited, breathed the product into the lungs, and had to be put on a ventilator.

The rapid onset of significant symptoms is pretty scary, said Dr. Michael Beuhler, medical director of the Carolinas Poison Center. Other laundry detergents cause only mild stomach upset or even no symptoms at all. Although we arent certain what in the product is making the children sick, we urge all parents and caregivers to make sure laundry detergent packs are not accessible to young kids.

The American Association of Poison Control Centers recommends the following steps:

Always keep detergents locked up and out of the reach of children.
Follow the specific disposal instructions on the label.
If you think a child has been exposed to a laundry detergent packet, call your local poison center at 1-800-222-1222 immediately.

The AAPCC supports the nations 57 poison centers in their efforts to treat and prevent drug, consumer product, animal, environmental and food poisoning. Members staff the Poison Help hotline at 1-800-222-1222 that provides free, confidential, expert medical advice 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year from toxicology specialists, including nurses, pharmacists, physicians and poison information providers. In addition, the AAPCC maintains the only poison information and surveillance database in the United States, providing real-time monitoring of unusual poisoning patterns, chemical exposures and other emerging public health hazards. A Arte de Blogar - New Site About Blogging, in Portuguese

(PRWEB) January 19, 2006

“A Arte de Blogar,” Portuguese for “The Art of Blogging,” is a new blog, written in Portuguese, about how to blog.

It is located at http://blogar.dehumanizer.com.

The site’s main feature is the “A Arte de Blogar” series, a multi-part, ongoing series which includes information about:

how to start a blog

what to write about, if you intend your blog to be successful and, possibly, make money

how to find content to write about

how to optimize your blog for search engines and “web spiders”

for WordPress users: which plugins there are to improve your blog’s features and keep first-time visitors for a longer time

how to promote your site successfully, and attract more visitors

how to submit your blog to search engines and web directories

how to publish an RSS feed

how to make money from your blog, including Goodle AdSense ads, Chitika eMiniMalls, affiliate programs, and others

Besides the ongoing series, the blog also features “quick tip” posts, and comments on current blogging-related news.

Pedro Timoteo, the main author, says: “After months of blogging, I was dissatisfied with the performance, popularity and even quality of my own blogs, and I searched for information on blogging optimization; however, all the sites I found were in English. Though the many sites on this subject, together, were extremely insightful and useful, I became aware of an almost complete lack of such sites in the Portuguese language.”

Being himself the author of a similar series in English, “The Blogging Tips Series,” http://tlog.dehumanizer.com/the-blogging-tips-series/, Mr. Timoteo soon began the work of translating and adapting his own series to his native language and culture, extending and improving it in the process, thereby creating a new blog to help other Portuguese-language bloggers and potential bloggers.

Pedro Timoteo is a 31-year-old Portuguese systems administrator, webmaster and blogger. He lives in Tercena, Portugal.

Blogger Creates Free Video Series to Educate Others About Blogging

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) March 2, 2007

Since nearly 200,000 new weblogs, or blogs, are created each day, some may argue that there are already too many blogs in the world. One blogger does not think so. Phil Ayres believes that “blogging has greatly improved our society. Blogs have made politicians more accountable to their constituents. They have enabled people with problems to reach out and find comfort in the words of someone who might otherwise be a complete stranger. And, blogs have enabled businesses to bring a human face to their corporate activities,” said Ayres

Though Ayres recognizes that there are phenomenal numbers of new bloggers each day, he also points out that these statistics fail to account for the number of bloggers who quit blogging or allow a blog to remain dormant for months at a time. And, he began to wonder why bloggers quit. “I would get hooked on reading a particular blog. Then, all of a sudden, one day, the blogger would just quit. And, I began to wonder why,” Ayres said.

“I began to speak with a number of bloggers from all kinds of blogs who quit writing. I spoke with individuals who wrote about politics. I spoke with bloggers who wrote about the activities in their day. I even spoke with corporate bloggers who discussed their industry or company. And, one common theme echoed in each of these situations … bloggers became disappointed with the traffic that they were getting.”

Ayres said that “he began to wonder what he could do about this problem”. Ultimately, he decided to create a free video tutorial series, the Blog Marketing Series (http://www.blogmarketingseries.com). The Blog Marketing Series consists of over 4 hours and 33 videos, designed to educate bloggers about how to create and market blogs on the Internet. All videos are provided to the public for free.

“I truly believe in the power of blogs to improve our democracy and to help people by sharing the lives of bloggers with their readers. I also believe in the importance of blogging for businesses of all sizes. People want to do business with companies that have a human face,” Ayres said.

Ayres said that he hopes that the Blog Marketing Series (http://www.blogmarketingseries.com) benefits others by allowing them to see online video tutorials, showing them how to create blogs. Further, once the blogs are created, the videos show bloggers how to use modern media to market their words and message for the purpose of expanding their audience.

He jokes that “in the movie ‘Field of Dreams’, the voice says, ‘if you build it, they will come.’ Nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to blogging!”

“Unfortunately, it is not enough to just create a blog. To create a wide audience for your blog in a very competitive blogosphere, one has to take the steps necessary to let people know about the blog. I hope the blog marketing series helps bloggers to create that wide audience that they need to keep on blogging for many years,” Ayres said.

Ayres said that “the blog marketing series was created with a higher intent. In a disjointed world, weblogs bring us together and allow us to connect with one another. It flattens geographical and ideological boundaries. The more people who start blogs and continue them, the better off our world will be. So, I encourage anyone to go to http://www.blogmarketing series.com to see our free videos, and get your blog started today.”

For additional information on the news that is the subject of this press release, contact Phil Ayres, or visit http://www.blogmarketingseries.com.

Blog Marketing Series (http://www.blogmarketingseries.com) provides free video tutorials to individuals or businesses who want to learn about creating and marketing blogs on the Internet. Specifically, in these video tutorials, the focus is on creating and marketing WordPress weblogs.
