Just Say Know to Prescription Drugs Campaign Finds International Interest and Support

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 2, 2006

Today the Just Say Know to Prescription Drugs campaign, aimed at getting one million people to stop and reevaluate the medications they are taking, reported that interest in the initiative is coming from a wide array of countries around the globe. Though 79 percent of the inquires about the initiative are coming from the United States; the campaign is getting interest from people in the industrial nations of the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia and France. Beyond the major developed countries, the long tail of interest in the initiative extends to 71 countries around the world including Japan, India, Romania, Jordan, Brazil, Turkey, Qatar, Spain Sweden, Mexico, Korea, China and South Africa.

The fact that 21 percent of the 15,000 inquiries weve received during the pre-launch have come from outside the U.S. underscores the global nature of the problem, said Dr Gregg Tefft, co-founder of the Just Say Know to Prescription Drugs campaign. As we take the campaign online this week, we welcome supporters in all of these countries.

During the month of October, the initiative aims to get one million people and one million parents to take a second look at the prescription medications they are taking and giving their children. Participants will be encouraged to download a form that allows them to thoughtfully evaluate the drugs they are taking or giving to their children. The form collects specific information from their prescribing physician, pharmacist or healthcare provider and requests the providers signature attesting that they have fully informed the patient or parent of the risks and benefits of the prescribed medication, as well as non-drug alternatives.

Coalition members have declared October “Just Say Know to Prescription Drugs Month” and have scheduled a conference in Washington, D.C. on October 7th to officially launch the campaign. Information about the conference is available at http://www.icspp.org

The core coalition is already comprised of international supporters, said Dr. Dominick Riccio, psychologist and chairman of the Just Say Know to Prescription Drugs campaign. The Internet has made it possible to more easily identify and reach global supporters, and to track with high levels of precision where the campaign is resonating most, said Riccio.

Organizations and individuals who want to participate in the campaign may go to any of the following Web sites, look for the Just Say Know to Prescription Drugs logo, and download the sheet titled “Take This Form and Sign It.” Instructions are provided on each form.

eDoorways Provides International Audience Insight Into "LEARN" Doorway and eC Device, With Emphasis on Collaboration at a Successful Presentation During the ISTEC XVIIth

Newport Beach, CA (Vocus) October 30, 2009

eDoorways Corporation (Pinksheets:EDWY – News) discussed the “LEARN” doorway and demoed its eC Device as part of the Company’s presentation at the Ibero-American Science and Technology Education Center’s (ISTEC) XVIIth Annual General Assembly on the Campus of the University of New Mexico (UNM) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. The presentation on Tuesday, October 27th, was so popular that the 200 people in attendance from various parts of Latin America, Spain, Portugal and the US requested a second demonstration on Wednesday, October 28th.

The theme of this year’s General Assembly is “Using Technology to Enable Collaboration, and Collaboration to Advance Science and Technology.” Speaking to this theme was the Founder and Executive Vice President of ISTEC, Dr. Ramiro Jordan. Also speaking was Dr. David J. Schmidly (President of UNM), Martin J. Chavez (Albuquerque, NM Mayor) and Dr. Mauro Miskulin (ISTEC President), amongst other esteemed educational, political and corporate guests. Invited to introduce eDoorways was the company’s lead consultant Ajene Watson, Managing Member of Ajene Watson LLC, a private lending and financial business development and management firm which has been working closely with the company.

In his introduction, Watson said, “The essence of technology is firmly rooted in the soil of education. From a rich earth of knowledge, anyone can become empowered. However, one empowered man can do very little all by himself. Collaboration must occur – and only from exhaustive and truly objective collaboration can we actually continue to positively advance as a society.”

Gary Kimmons, CEO of eDoorways, then spoke about the overall progress of eDoorways and why it is eDoorways is the perfect partner to collaborate with ISTEC. He said, “The purpose of eDoorways is to make the connection between teacher and student, customer and vendor — between any group of individuals who need ‘real-time’ contact to achieve a common purpose. If you think about it, that’s really everyone.”

Dr. Jack Crosscope, the developer of the highly praised SmartOne technology, followed Mr. Kimmons, giving a oral and written presentation, taking the audience though the possibilities of using the “LEARN” doorway to create courses in a collaborative effort, teaching through the learning technology, and the ease in learning as students.

Lastly, Ian Mitchell demonstrated the eC Device through a video that eDoorways shot, with the focus again on collaboration. The video, produced in Spanish by up and coming film producer Marton Varo, Jr., depicted Person A in one country attempting to dig a well, and he runs into a problem. From an iPhone, Person A presses his eDoorways App and searches for someone to assist him in “real-time” through the eDoorways platform. Another eDoorways user, Person B who is pinged, returns the ping connecting him directly to Person A. Person B then offers to help the individual dig the well at that exact moment in time.

Mr. Mitchell explained, “Person A, who is wearing the eC Device is able to show Person B exactly what they are seeing and doing in ‘real-time.’ Person B is then able to provide relevant instruction to Person A. Person B is also able to port over a video (viewed either on the iPhone or though the eC Device’s eye piece) of a well that had been built by another group previously, thus giving Person A an even clearer understanding of what is required to accomplish the goal of digging the well.”

Dozens of people, some who spoke little English but armed with translators, surrounded Dr. Crosscope and Mr. Mitchell for their specific disciplines. People close to the company who attended the event believe the general excitement causing the audience to congregate around eDoorways was due to the understanding of what the combination of LEARN, the eC Device and the general platform of eDoorways could mean for education, business, medicine and law enforcement, both domestically and internationally.

Dr. Ramiro Jordan stated, “The overall presentation was a great success. eDoorways became the belle of the ball with its presentation. This is why we requested that eDoorways repeat their demonstration on Wednesday. It was equally well-received, helping to create potential partnerships for deployment of the environment in various academic institutions. I anticipate that a significant partnership between ISTEC and eDoorways is brewing and may possibly take off quickly.”

Sources close to the company suggest that a marriage between the two groups would not only prove invaluable to the work of ISTEC members, but will instantly link eDoorways to a market of well over 18 million online users.

eDoorways will be attending ISTEC’s Advisory Board Meeting today.

World Water Crisis, Water Wars: Living Water International Guests on Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water Radio Show

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) November 04, 2011

On October 31, 2011, Sharon Kleyne, water advocate, Founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research and Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water host, interviewed Jerry Wiles, President Emeritus of Living Water International. Mr. Wiles’ non-profit, faith based organization is dedicated to providing water wells in third world countries.

In much of the world, according to Sharon Kleyne and Jerry Wiles, lack of safe and abundant fresh water causes dry air and numerous dehydration diseases, including dry eye leading to blindness. Water issues may also be responsible for lack of economic development and education and lowered status of women.

The interview may be played in podcast on World Talk Radio, Voice America, Green Talk Network, Apple iTunes, and naturestears.com. and Amazon.com

Living Water International was founded 21 years ago and continues to save and improve lives in the third world. They have completed 11,000 water well projects, with 1,387 in 2010 and 1,600 projected for 2011.

This faith based, non-profit organization works closely with the energy industry, which frequently donates drilling equipment. An energy industry employee on Living Water’s board developed a portable drilling rig for them that can be carried in a Jeep or canoe and runs on two gasoline engines. These are now in use all over the world.

Living Water works with the host nation (usually in Africa, Asia and South and Central America) and also assists in setting up local water committees (mostly women). Community wells may be located near a school or hospital and are maintained by the local committee, which also provides education on sanitation practices such as hand washing to prevent numerous dry eye diseases, including dry eye.

Jerry Wiles discussed bio-sand filters, developed by Living Water. It uses a barrel, gravity and layers of gravel, sand and charcoal to purify water. Water may be contaminated from human and animal waste, made worse by frequent drought. The result is dehydration disease, dry eye, cholera, diarrhea and malaria, leading to preventable blindness and deaths.

Water shortages in the United States

Sharon asked about charitable water wells in poor areas of the United States, noting that fresh water and agricultural water are becoming scarce. Jerry Wiles said that Living Water hasn’t yet drilled in the US and observed that in the US, the push for indoor pluming and reliable municipal water began 150 years ago with huge benefits. India and China are attempting to achieve that. Both have plenty of water but far too many people and much of their water is polluted.

The average American uses 100 gallons of water a day. The average third world villager uses less than five gallons a day. In villages with no wells, women walk an average of 3.17 miles a day to obtain fresh water.

Sharon asked about water for animals, mentioning the Mara River in Kenya and the diminishing water supply for migrating animals. Jerry Wiles observed that drought in the third world can be catastrophic for everyone. Living Water wells are mostly used for human consumption but could be used for livestock.

World Vision International Interviewed on the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water

Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) January 06, 2012

Sharon Kleyne, host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water syndicated radio talk show, recently interviewed Traci Coker of the World Vision Gift Catalogue regarding the catalogue’s wide selection of life-changing gifts that donors may give to impoverished families and children in developing countries, to improve heath and enrich lives.

World Vision representatives have previously appeared on the show several times and reflect Sharon Kleyne’s message about proactive self-help. World Vision also reflects the mission of the charity Mrs. Kleyne founded, the Save-a-Child’s Life Foundation. The interview with Traci Coker may be heard on-demand on World Talk Radio, Voice America, Green Talk Network, Apple iTunes and Twitter.

Traci Coker has been with World Vision International for four years, and works at their world headquarters in Federal Way, Washington, where they have been for over 60 years.

Sharon Kleyne and Ms. Coker agreed that the primary need in developing or third world countries is access to safe and abundant water. Water releases women and children to other activities besides carrying water and drastically reduces infant and child mortality, and preventable blindness. In India, according to Ms. Coker, 4,000 children a day die from dehydration and sanitation diseases, all of which are preventable. Many more are blinded or disabled.

The catalogue began in 1996 as a way to help children, their families and orphans. The gift of a goat ($ 25), which requires very little maintenance, can provide up to 16 cups of milk a day to feed an undernourished child, with milk left over to sell in the marketplace.

Other gifts include: cows, chickens, ducks, art supplies, water, water wells, bed nets, seeds, water pumps, school books, clothing, bicycles, stocking for a fish pond, Bibles, computers, small business loans, and yestoys.

It is possible to purchase part of a larger gift, such as a tractor.

According to Traci Coker, these are all the same gift the gift of hope, opportunity and self-worth.

Everyone who gives a gift receives a small token such as a Christmas ornament, identifying them as a World Vision donor.

World Vision International operates in over 100 countries. When they become involved in assisting a community, they remain for at least 15 years and set up local committees to develop indigenous leaders. They also work with other agencies and organizations to help the community develop and maintain safe water wells, schools, community projects, etc.

MailChimp adds free text-to-subscribe integration for UK & International businesses

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 04, 2011

MailChimp today announced the release of MobileChimp, the latest integration to launch out of the email technology platforms $ 1 million Integration Fund. MobileChimp provides MailChimp users in the US, UK, Australia, Spain, France and the Netherlands with a totally free option for mobile list building. Subscriptions gathered via text message are automatically added to the users designated MailChimp list via the API, making text-to-subscribe easy for any business to use.

Text-to-subscribe allows anyone interested in receiving email campaigns from a MailChimp user to text a keyword plus their email address to a designated code that is specific to each country. The keyword is chosen by the MailChimp user and is specific to their MailChimp list. This one-step process is easy for the subscriber and allows them to receive an email confirming their subscription rather than an additional text message.

The MobileChimp integration was developed by the UK-based web development agency, XAMP. XAMP developers are responsible for building a platform that sends and receives millions of text messages every month throughout the UK and worldwide. MobileChimp is built on that platform and maintained by XAMP.

Anyone can try out the service now by texting CHIMP + your email address to 447786 200236 to subscribe to MobileChimps regular newsletters.

XAMPs free offering allows users to designate an unlimited number of keywords for each list. Upgrading to a paid plan allows for using a short code specific to your country rather than a long code.

In addition to basic text-to-subscribe services, MobileChimp will automatically add new subscribers’ mobile phone numbers to their subscriber information in MailChimp. Plus, MobileChimps reporting tools track subscription rates by keyword. MobileChimp users can also choose to receive a push notification whenever a new subscriber signs up for their list through MobileChimp.

MailChimp users can start using MobileChimp today by visiting mobilechimp.co.uk. For more information on this and other integrations visit the Integrations Directory – http://connect.mailchimp.com/integrations/mobilechimp-text-to-subscribe

MailChimp Adds Billing in International Currencies

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 20, 2011

MailChimp announced today support for billing in British Pounds and Euro, providing greater transparency and lower transaction fees for MailChimp subscribers living outside the United States. Reflecting the growing international customer base, MailChimp looks to add additional currency support in the coming months.

The new billing solution provided by Chase Paymentech allows MailChimp to bill customers in foreign currencies at the time of the actual transaction. Previously foreign card holders would be billed in US dollars and would see a conversion rate in their monthly statement as well as a service charge of the conversion from US dollars. When a subscriber activates billing in British Pound or Euros the actual conversion rate is set at the time of the billing and the subscriber will see a charge in their local currency without a conversion service charge.

To provide the best conversion rates to subscribers, MailChimp makes the conversion from US dollars to British Pounds or Euros at the time of the transaction, rather than setting a fixed price in the other currencies. In this way subscribers will get the best conversion rate available at that point in time. Rather than seeing a fixed billing amount each month, the actual billable amount in British Pounds and Euros will vary slightly each month based on the actual exchange rate available at the time of billing.

Currently 45% of MailChimps subscribers on paid plans live outside the United States. The British Pound/Euro zone represents 28% of MailChimp subscribers. MailChimps 10 top cities worldwide are: New York, London, Sydney, Melbourne, Los Angeles, Toronto, San Francisco, Chicago, Brisbane, and Auckland.

The launch of foreign currency billing is part of a broader program to expand the internationalization of the MailChimp application. Planned for Q1 2012 is the launch of a Spanish language version of MailChimp.

littleBits Closes Series A and Partners with PCH International to Spark New Generation of Inventors

(PRWEB) July 18, 2012

Electronic building blocks company littleBits today announced a $ 3.65 million Series A round led by True Ventures and including Khosla Ventures, OReilly AlphaTech Ventures and Lerer Ventures. The company also announced a major partnership with leading supply chain management company PCH International, which will begin producing littleBits in August.

littleBits is a system of electronic modules that snap together with magnets for both prototyping and play. Each bit has a simple, unique function (light, sound, sensors, buttons, thresholds, pulse, motors, etc.), and modules that snap together to make larger circuits. littleBits enables anyone to create interactive electronics projectslike racecars, dragons and interactive greeting cardswithout any background in engineering, programming or wiring. With the companys flagship product, the 10-piece Starter Kit (US$ 89), users can build simple electronics quickly and affordably.

We spend more than seven hours with technological devices every day, yet most of us don’t even know how they work, said littleBits founder and MIT Media Lab alum Ayah Bdeir. littleBits aims to break the boundary between the things we consume and the things we make, and make everyone into an inventor. We want littleBits to be an affordable educational tool that is used in schools everywhere, and our new funding and new relationship with PCH means that we can now expand our team of super stars and reach even more people around the world.

Bdeir was recently awarded the TED Fellowship and participated in TED2012 in Long Beach where she delivered a talk about littleBits and the future of play, available at TED.com.

We are thrilled to be a part of the littleBits vision, said Jon Callaghan, co-founder of early-stage venture capital firm True Ventures. Ayah is exactly the type of founder we strive to work with at True, and her passion for building a platform that inspires and propels the creativity of the world’s next generations of creators aligns perfectly with our mission,” he said. “littleBits is a product that captures the imagination and has the potential to dramatically change the way the world thinks about education and play in the digital era.

To further expand littleBits global reach, PCH International will run its manufacturing, supply chain and logistics, making littleBits the youngest company to ever partner with PCH on a wide-scale product launch.

Ayah has the vision and ability to take littleBits global and make it a household name, said Liam Casey, CEO and Founder of PCH International, manufacturer of consumer and medical electronics, packaging, and accessories for some of the most iconic companies in the world. We work with companies that are passionate about design, about their brand and about the consumer experience. We are proud to partner with littleBits to help them reach the next phase of their rapidly growing trajectory.

To encourage innovation, the littleBits platform is open source and enables anyone to redesign and share their own creations online, turning electronics and circuits into collaborative tools.

Open source software lowered the costs of innovation for software and Internet services and pushed it from big companies to startups, said Joi Ito, who led a seed round for littleBits in September 2011 and played an integral role in the development of open source as a movement. The same thing is now happening in hardware, and littleBits is one of the companies leading the way.

Since its debut in September 2011, littleBits has created and released more than 30 products on the market. The company has been overrun with demand and has sold to parents, artists, designers, developers, schools, universities and many others in countries including the U.S., Canada, India, Japan, the UK, Australia, Mexico and Chile. The Museum of Modern Art has acquired littleBits for its permanent collection, and Popular Science named littleBits Best of Toyfair 2012.

International Membership Gurus Strikes Gold with Latest Software Offering

Minden, NV (PRWEB) September 06, 2011

WP Sales Buddy, the newest software offering from US based membership software company, MemberSpeed Inc., has been flying off the virtual shelves since its initial launch just a few months ago. The new software, written as a plugin to complement the popular open-source web content management system WordPress, creates an economical yet fully functioning membership website, to service the burgeoning entry-level membership site niche.

Since 2007, when MemberSpeed Inc first started successfully selling its flag ship membership software solutions (by that same name), few people envisioned the huge influx in growth amongst entry level membership-model based businesses that we have been seeing, after the success of Facebook and other successful membership based business models.

US Based, CEO, and co-founder of MemberSpeed Inc. Jeremy Gislason commented, We owe some of our recent success with WP Sales Buddy to the popularity, and ease-of-use built into WordPress itself. However, more importantly, timing played the biggest role in this new softwares overwhelming acceptance! You see, the way people use the web is beginning to grow up. More and more people are beginning to stick with websites that they know and trust will provide them with consistent value in information and entertainment. Todays entrepreneur knows how important it is to build a quality membership based website, to solidify a relationship with their customer by encouraging them to subscribe. WP Sales Buddy helps entrepreneurs achieve this goal quickly and economically by providing a quality membership website in minutes, thanks to our WordPress integration.

UK based, co-founder and money-man Simon Hodgkinson is quick to add that, WP Sales Buddy does not reach the level of our flagship product. However, it does smoothly meld many of the most popular membership features (like affiliate marketing and, membership levels, etc.) into a great entry level product, which allows any entrepreneur the ability to build powerful and profitable membership websites, quickly and with minimal commitment.
