From PhoneCasting to Interactive Podcasting: Nokia, WordPress, FeedBurner, innerTOOB Presenting Seminars at the Online International Podcasting Expo

This weekend (October 20-22, 2006), entrepreneurs will gather together at the Online International Podcasting Expo to learn why major companies like Nokia are entering the Podcast Industry. Steven Stewart of Nokia will present an online audio/visual seminar open to the public about Nokia’s newest podcast compatible phone, and their proprietary podcasting tools and services. Michael Sharp of Phonecasting.com will also explain the inevitable growth of podcasting into the cellular phone arena.

Carter Harkins of innerTOOB has developed an online tool that allows podcasters and listeners to imbed audio, visual and text comments at different time codes within a podcast. innerTOOB’s players also lets podcasters include “chapters” and titles within a podcast. Dave Nelsen’s TalkShoe is a unique combination of teleconference lines combined with online conferencing abilities. TalkShoe also offers podcasters an opportunity to be paid for their podcasts by allowing advertising to be attached to their shows. Both of these podcasting tools are free.

The Online International Podcasting Expo will also include training sessions on free recording, editing and mixing software for both PC and Mac users. Penny Haynes of 1st Podcast Publishing, and Organizer of the Expo, will teach Beginning Wavepad Recording and Editing. Doug Snodgrass of the WilFlipson Show will teach Advanced Wavepad Editing. Jerry Franklin will teach Advanced Audacity techniques. Free downloads of WavePad, MixPad and Audacity will be provided during the seminars.

Matt Mullenweg, creator of WordPress, and Andy Wibbels, the original blog evangelist and author of BlogWild!, on the Fortune recommended reading list, will teach Podcasters how they can increasing their search engine rankings by adding blogging to their podcast. FeedBurner’s Eric Olson and PodPress’ Dan Kuykendall will teach you how to take your WordPress blog and turn it into a Podcast feed. George Smyth, the President of the Association of Music Podcasting, will show you where to find legal music for your podcast, and Dave Jackson of the School of Podcasting will teach you about the different audio formats you can use.

MJD Interactive Agency Launches Website for Newly Established West Health Investment Fund

Last week, MJD Interactive Agency launched a website for the newly announced West Health Investment Fund (http://www.westhealthfund.com). The Fund has a unique mission to lower health care costs by providing risk capital for companies with cuttingedge health care technologies and services.

In 2009, Gary and Mary West founded the West Wireless Health Institute, a nonprofit medical research organization, to identify ways to lower health care costs through technology. With the launch of the West Health Investment Fund, the Wests have put an additional $ 100 million of their own money to work to provide capital to companies creating novel solutions to the health care cost problem.

MJD Interactive was hired mere weeks before the site was set to go live and produced a highly customized site that was cohesive with the new branding initiative of the fund.

It was important to get information to people without bloating the site with page after page of hard-to-find content. We designed the site to use animated panels of content to keep things simple and clean, while giving people the information they need. We built the site using Drupal as the Content Management System. They needed a CMS that was highly scalable for future content updates as well as building a solid technology platform for future initiatives, said Jeremy Duimstra, Co-Founder of MJD Interactive Agency. Those were the technical design challenges that were overcome. We also had a great time utilizing the new branding guidelines to create what we think is a very modern, visually stunning site.

Working with MJD was a great experience for us, said Don Casey, Manager of the West Health Investment Fund. We had a very short deadline, and they delivered a compelling site to us in time for our official unveiling. The dedication they showed to get the site built was extraordinary, and the site is getting rave reviews on a daily basis.

Last week, MJD Interactive Agency launched a website for the newly announced West Health Policy Center (http://www.westhealthpolicy.org). The Policy Center aims to lower health care costs through improved reimbursement models, innovative smart technologies such as mobile health monitors, and advanced clinical research analytics.

Philanthropic pioneers Gary and Mary West have made a multi-million dollar, multi-year commitment to establish the West Health Policy Center in Washington, D.C. with the goal of saving more than $ 100 billion in cumulative health care costs within 10 years by identifying common sense changes in reimbursement and regulation that can be acted on immediately and do not require legislative action.

MJD Interactive was again contracted for the custom build of the Policy Center site after launching a very successful site for the West Health Investment Fund last quarter in 2011.

We needed to create a site that was able to display all the initiatives and ideals of the Policy Center but still wanted to retain a clean, visually appealing layout. We achieved this by staggering the content and using interactive panels that slide down to present further information. said Aaron Straker, lead MJD developer on the project. The site is built using the Drupal platform as the Content Management System. The CMS was chosen for its support of content creation and updating as well as the scalability of the platform it is built upon. I believe we were able to achieve a build that includes all the resources and solutions the Policy Center has to offer while maintaining a really clean design.

Working with MJD has been a great experience for us, said Don Casey, Chairman of the West Health Policy Center. Their teams technical expertise and attention to detail helped streamline the process and create a modern, dynamic website that compels visitors to learn more about our efforts to lower health care costs.
