The Blogging Edge of Sales; A New Blog Helping Sales Organizations Adjust to the Challenges of the New Economy

Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) September 21, 2005

Through the clutter of millions of blogs that have been launched in recent years, a few business-related blogs manage to stand out because they provide a constant flow of relevant content, ideas, and exchange. SellingIsDead.com, a new blog aimed at helping business owners, senior executives, sales and marketing managers, and salespeople, is finding a distinct voice that is attracting a rapidly growing following.

The blog was inspired by a book entitled Selling Is Dead, which was authored by Marc Miller and Jason Sinkovitz and published by John Wiley & Sons on July 1st. The premise of the book is that selling teams must redefine their roles and adopt new selling frameworks – or risk becoming obsolete. The book also outlines a new and disciplined approach to selling innovation, which is a key problem for most organizations that must turn to innovation for survival and growth. Many companies can innovate, the authors contend, but few can sell innovation effectively and efficiently.

Upon completing Selling Is Dead, Miller and Sinkovitz looked for ways to extend their message and stimulate a more meaningful dialogue with the business community. They turned to the blogosphere and launched SellingIsDead.com just after the release of their book.

The blog, which is powered by free WordPress software (http://wordpress.org/), is now generating several hundred hits each day after only six weeks of existence.

Miller and Sinkovitz attribute the initial surge in interest to several factors. Most importantly, they believe that the majority of executives feel that their sales teams are underperforming. Many business leaders are looking for new ideas to stimulate and sustain greater sales productivity in the face of an accelerating onslaught of competitive and market shifts. Furthermore, although there is a lot of content and discussion focused on how to innovate, Miller and Sinkovitz feel that sales and marketing professionals are starved for good, credible information about how to go to market with innovative offerings.

SellingIsDead.com updates daily with ideas, advice, and resources for sales organizations – especially those faced with the complexity of selling high-risk innovations.

About Miller & Sinkovitz:

Marc Miller is the Founder and Owner of Sogistics Corporation, an 18-year-old sales productivity improvement firm located near Cleveland, Ohio. Jason Sinkovitz is the Director of Learning at Sogistics. Miller and Sinkovitz co-authored Selling Is Dead, a book published by John Wiley & Sons on July 1, 2005. The book is available at Amazon.com, Borders, Barnes & Noble (BN.com), and many independent bookstores.

Gaining the Competitive Edge in this Economy May be Based on How Well You Know Your Personality According to New Book

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 8, 2010

What drives the economy? People. People are behind every transaction. Business leaders will be the first to say that the most costly thing in business is personnel turnover. Unemployment is at 9.7%. This has led to an unstable work environment filled with a diverse group of workers. No matter what age, it is necessary to understand the different personality types that workers possess. For post-Baby Boomer generations, it can be a challenge to educate them about personality assessment, while still maintaining their interest. The recently released book, It’s Not You It’s Your Personality: Skills to Survive and Thrive in the Modern Workplace, may have the solution.

There is an undying stratification in how the new generation of workers relate to their older peers. Technology sets them apart. A feeling of entitlement is out there for many workers. Each experience in life creates the personality a worker brings to the table. Dr. Diane Hamilton and co-author daughter, Toni Rothpletz, argue that if Americans want to be successful, its time to look inside and find out what inherently makes them tick. The authors explain how to do this in their fun and sometimes irreverent look at the current workplace.

It is essential for people to understand their own personality and to realize the impact their interactions may have on others. This is becoming increasingly more important as business owners and managers look to keep harmony among workers. Morale is important and if there is friction among personalities, managers are forced to make some tough decisions.

Toni and I believe that it is the workers responsibility to know their own personality and how their responses may be judged by others, says Hamilton, If anything, this economy has shown us that it is essential that we take ownership of our roles in the workplace. We wrote this book to help the modern worker learn some important personality skills while still having fun in the process.

Personality tests can be an informative tool. Myers-Briggs, DISC, The Big Five, Birth Order, Color Tests, Emotional Intelligence and other top personality tests are used by employers to assess potential and current employees. Hamilton and Rothpletz argue that it gives workers a leg up to have these powerful self-learning mechanisms. There are so many personality assessments, it can get confusing to know which one to research. Its Not You, Its Your Personality explains the top assessments and shows readers that learning about themselves and their coworkers can be a lot of fun.

Mother/daughter team of Hamilton and Rothpletz, set out to edutain (educate and entertain) their post-Baby Boomer working world audience. If someone has ever wondered how their personality compared to famous celebrities like Lady Gaga or Johnny Depp, they may get some answers. However, one of the most valuable things they will learn from this book is why these personality tests are so important to their success and future ability to get ahead in the working world.

About the Authors:

Diane Hamilton currently teaches bachelor-, master-, and doctoral-level courses for six online universities. Along with her teaching experience, she has a Doctorate Degree in Business Management and more than twenty-five years of business and management-related experience. She is a qualified Myers-Briggs instructor as well as a certified Emotional Intelligence trainer.

Toni Rothpletz has a Bachelor Degree in Global Business Marketing and is currently working on receiving her MBA. She currently works as a business developer/sales executive in the computer industry. Her background includes working in several industries including computer software, identity theft, and social networking organizations.

As Economy Crisis Tightens Belts, EasyDrupalTutorials.com"s Weekend Seminar Enables Realistic Own Business Success

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) October 9, 2008

With the current financial crisis leaving thousands on the employment scrap heap, people are now looking at self-employment to offer more control in their professional and personal lives. A key part of new business success is having a professional website to attract and maintain customers, yet too many businesses ignore this because of cost. A weekend seminar in Canada hosted by Easy Drupal Tutorials (http://www.easydrupaltutorials.com/get-free-tutorial.html) will show prospective business owners how to build their own fully interactive website cost-effectively.

The seminar is aimed at people who want to build their own business website but are missing the technical know-how. Using the Drupal Content Management System (CMS) as the platform to build from, the seminar will explain why Drupal offers the most effective, interactive and easy-to-implement features of any website building tool.

“There are numerous CMS platforms for building websites,” states founder of Easy Drupal Tutorials, Rene Tse, “although there are probably only three that matter – Drupal, WordPress and Joomla. While each have their pros and cons, Drupal is by far the most comprehensive yet easy-to-manage CMS on the market. My seminar will show people how to get a fully interactive and profitable site up within hours.”

The features offered by the Drupal Content Management System are perfect for newcomers to website building and management. For potential new business owners, Drupal also provides a platform from which to build a highly profitable customer base and community:

Free tools to increase online visibility, including RSS feeds, e-commerce, video blogging and newsletter sign-up
Interactive event calendars and directions, placing customers at a specific business address
Multi-user option to build dedicated visitor or customer forum and user base
“With Drupal, the power truly is in the hands of the user,” adds Rene. “Now, instead of having to pay a web designer between $ 3,000-$ 5,000 to set up a website for you, and then another $ 500-$ 1,000 to maintain and update it, you have complete control. If you can use something like Microsoft Word and copy paste folders and images on your computer, you can use Drupal. Combined with the knowledge gained at my seminar, as well as my intuitive Mind Maps solution (http://www.easydrupaltutorials.com/pdf/funnyladies.jpg) which offers a visual representation of a word or topic and ensures a fuller understanding, the dream of running your own business with a professional website will be reality within hours.”

The Easy Drupal Training Seminar (http://www.easydrupaltutorials.com/) will be held over the weekend of November 14, November 15 and November 16, 2008 at the Pacific Inn Resort Hotel & Conference Centre in White Rock/Surrey, BC, Canada.

Blue Collar Interactive Moving and Shaking in a Slow Economy

Hood River, Ore. (PRWEB) June 9, 2010

Just six months after opening up shop, Blue Collar Interactive (http://www.bluecollaragency.com), a full-service interactive advertising agency focused on delivering breakthrough creative work and honest client service, is flexing some serious creative muscle and showing exciting growth during a time where many others in the industry are struggling. Between awarding Habitat for Humanity a $ 20,000 creative services package as part of their launch campaign, to a big first site launch for Sigma Corporation of America, to adding award wins and clients to their roster, to creating a modern vintage office space and hiring a new full-time team member, Blue Collar is proving that they are here to stay.

We attribute our success to the fact that were staying true to our dedication to exceed our clients expectations, said April Donovan, Partner and Co-Creative Director. Were rolling with the punches, expanding our expertise with projects that include global brand development, mobile site design and development, new social media integration techniques and pushing the limits of WordPress.

Blue Collars first official project was the launch of a fully-redesigned website for Sigma Corporation of America (http://www.sigmaphoto.com) in Feb. The new site for the photography lens manufacturer features an immersive, customer-centric experience with the Sigma brand and photography products and set a new standard within their industry. It has since garnered a number of accolades and Sigma was so impressed with Blue Collars work that they officially hired them as their agency of record to lead their marketing initiatives for the company, creating and managing online advertising and email marketing campaigns for the remainder of 2010.

Blue Collar has also been busy working with Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East, the winner of the Blue Collar Creative Open House and recipient of a $ 20,000 grant for creative services. Blue Collar launched the campaign in January and took nominations from Oregon-based businesses and non-profits who were in desperate need of creative and interactive marketing services to help them survive the rocky economy. After community voting, Habitat for Humanity demonstrated their strong core values and commitment to the community and was named the winner. Donning hard hats in March, Blue Collar got their hands dirty and went to work on a job site called Jubilee Commons, to fully understand what Habitat for Humanity does for the community. They also completed a full analytics and SEO review for Habitats current website to help them increase conversion of donations and volunteers on their site. Blue Collar will be working with Habitat in the coming months to develop interactive strategies and web initiatives that will help them raise much-needed donations and awareness for their cause within the community.

And what can you expect to see from Blue Collar in the near future? They are already hard at work on website projects for Rollic (gear for dirt, water and snow), Tactical Distributors (tactical gear for the armed forces and law enforcement community) and the Right Brain Initiative (a collaboration among artists and other community members working to develop a systemic and sustainable solution for providing whole brain learning opportunities for children). Other projects that Blue Collar will launch shortly include Regence: Whats the Real Cost? (a public awareness campaign designed to educate Regence members and community leaders about the drivers of health care costs) and a mobile site for the easy-to-use email marketing service, Mail Chimp.

With a plan to move into their long-term office in early fall, the BC team is putting considerable energy into making their current work space something truly exceptional. Going for a mix of modern and vintage, the team has picked up some great pieces that really speak to the Blue Collar branda rebuilt Sinclair gas pump, 1948 Jeep Willys grill, and 10 mounted marlin they call Marvin.

To add to all the excitement going on at the shop, Blue Collar has been quietly adding a few creative awards and accolades to their portfolio. Including an Interactive Media Award, DOPE Award, and American Design Awards for both their portfolio site and the Sigma Photo website. They were also recently profiled in the Portland Business Journal as professionals to watch in the advertising industry.

Blue Collar also recently hired a new mechanic to the Account Services team, adding the talent and energy of Jay Gifford, a strategist whose main focus will be leveraging social media campaigns to raise awareness and help clients reach their audiences online. Gifford hails from the Sportsgrants Foundation where he worked to spearhead a series of fundraising initiatives for organizations such as the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Prior to that, Jay worked with Outdoorplay where he helped the company grow into one of the largest online kayak retailers in the world. An avid kayaker, Gifford was selected by the National Geographic Explorer to participate in The Kamchatka Project, an expedition paddle throughout the month of July into the depths of Siberia to collect research on the place, its people and its fisheries.

Founded on the idea that a small group of talented people can ultimately do great work with a smaller budget, Blue Collar Interactive offers a wide range of creative and client services, web development and interactive marketing services. Their management team consists of three founding senior partners and an advisory board of junior partners that leverage a well-balanced suite of expertise to offer clients one-stop-shopping for their interactive needs. Blue Collars gritty, hand-shake approach to creative marketing solutions, is backed by a dedication to strong business relationships through hard work, brutal honesty, integrity and trust. Fake Facebook Accounts, Fake Romney Followers: The Underground Economy of Social Networks

Campbell, CA (PRWEB) August 03, 2012

Barracuda Networks, a leading provider of security, networking and data protection solutions, today released findings from Barracuda Labs most recent study, “The Underground Economy of Buying Twitter Followers: Dealers, Abusers and Fake Accounts.” The study analyzes a random sampling of more than 70,000 fake Twitter accounts that are being used to sell fake Twitter followers. The study also analyzed some of the people that are using such fake followers including the recent example of U.S. presidential candidate Mitt Romneys Twitter account.

Between Facebooks 10-Q filing stating that 83 million of its accounts are fake (1), to Mitt Romneys Twitter account recently falling under scrutiny for suspicious followings (2), fake social network profiles are a hot topic at the moment. And these fake profiles are at the center of a very vibrant and growing underground economy. This underground economy consists of Dealers who create and sell the use of thousands of fake social accounts, and Abusers who buy follows or likes from these fake accounts to boost their perceived popularity, sell advertising based on their now large social audience or conduct other malicious activity.

Fake users should be a huge concern to both Facebook and Twitter because of the threat they create to user trust, online security and the overall community feeling of the social networks, said Dr. Paul Judge, chief research officer at Barracuda Networks. This obviously threatens advertising revenue as organizations begin to question the true visibility and reach of their ad campaigns.

Study Overview

Barracuda Labs began this research in May 2012, setting up three Twitter accounts and purchasing between 20,000 and 70,000 Twitter followers for each from eBay and other websites. The study analyzes a random sampling of more than 70,000 fake Twitter accounts that are being used to sell fake Twitter followers.

Highlights of the study include:
