The Blogging Edge of Sales; A New Blog Helping Sales Organizations Adjust to the Challenges of the New Economy

Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) September 21, 2005

Through the clutter of millions of blogs that have been launched in recent years, a few business-related blogs manage to stand out because they provide a constant flow of relevant content, ideas, and exchange. SellingIsDead.com, a new blog aimed at helping business owners, senior executives, sales and marketing managers, and salespeople, is finding a distinct voice that is attracting a rapidly growing following.

The blog was inspired by a book entitled Selling Is Dead, which was authored by Marc Miller and Jason Sinkovitz and published by John Wiley & Sons on July 1st. The premise of the book is that selling teams must redefine their roles and adopt new selling frameworks – or risk becoming obsolete. The book also outlines a new and disciplined approach to selling innovation, which is a key problem for most organizations that must turn to innovation for survival and growth. Many companies can innovate, the authors contend, but few can sell innovation effectively and efficiently.

Upon completing Selling Is Dead, Miller and Sinkovitz looked for ways to extend their message and stimulate a more meaningful dialogue with the business community. They turned to the blogosphere and launched SellingIsDead.com just after the release of their book.

The blog, which is powered by free WordPress software (http://wordpress.org/), is now generating several hundred hits each day after only six weeks of existence.

Miller and Sinkovitz attribute the initial surge in interest to several factors. Most importantly, they believe that the majority of executives feel that their sales teams are underperforming. Many business leaders are looking for new ideas to stimulate and sustain greater sales productivity in the face of an accelerating onslaught of competitive and market shifts. Furthermore, although there is a lot of content and discussion focused on how to innovate, Miller and Sinkovitz feel that sales and marketing professionals are starved for good, credible information about how to go to market with innovative offerings.

SellingIsDead.com updates daily with ideas, advice, and resources for sales organizations – especially those faced with the complexity of selling high-risk innovations.

About Miller & Sinkovitz:

Marc Miller is the Founder and Owner of Sogistics Corporation, an 18-year-old sales productivity improvement firm located near Cleveland, Ohio. Jason Sinkovitz is the Director of Learning at Sogistics. Miller and Sinkovitz co-authored Selling Is Dead, a book published by John Wiley & Sons on July 1, 2005. The book is available at Amazon.com, Borders, Barnes & Noble (BN.com), and many independent bookstores.

New Web Site Built on WordPress

Word Sell launched its new Web site on August 10, 2007. Built in WordPress, the new site combines the company’s blog and corporate site. “Not only is WordPress the perfect solution for us, it makes sense for many of our clients, whether or not they have a blog. We have excellent technical support through our strategic alliance with Anubis Marketing (http://www.anubismarketing.com),” said Shorr. “We’re building a client site now and expect many more to come.”

The firm, formerly known as Step-Up Marketing, Inc., took its new name from its company blog. “The Word Sell blog was more familiar to clients than our Web site,” said Shorr. “I think ‘Word Sell’ conveys the fact that our firm concentrates on messaging and selling. Clients need both.”

“Our new tag line, ‘It’s all about action,” emphasizes our focus on results,” Shorr continued. “Great marketing ideas don’t accomplish much unless a company can put them into motion. Connecting the dots between sales and marketing is difficult, and we can help.”

Management"s Antidote for Turbulent Times; New Book Sheds Light on Emerging Practice of Using Interim Managers in Marketing and Sales

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) March 28, 2008

What is the little-known secret some CEOs use to keep employment costs down while maintaining growth strategies during uncertain economic conditions? The answer involves the prudent use of interim or on-demand managers within their Marketing and Sales departments, according to the authors of “Leadership On Demand: How Smart CEOs Tap Interim Management to Drive Revenue”.

Although companies today are familiar with using interim executives to fill temporary gaps in HR, IT and Finance departments the new book provides fresh insight and best practices on how to use interim, “just-in-time” talent to impact the revenue engine of their organization–Marketing and Sales.

The authors contend that too many companies have allowed temporary gaps in Marketing and Sales leadership to retard their revenue performance. The gaps occur in three areas: a key management position is vacant for more than a month, a critical set of required skills is missing in the organization, or there’s a shortage of management time to accomplish an important business initiative.

“This topic is one of great importance to our economy and society. The chapters do a good job of identifying the general trends that would lead a company to consider the utilization of an interim manager,” said John Mavers, First Vice President, Washington Mutual Bank.

Through its 14 chapters the book shows CEOs how to identify when interim management should be considered, how to structure an engagement, how to socialize the solution within the organization, how to justify the fee, etc. The book includes interviews from CEO’s, COO’s and Board members who share their experiences and insights about the prudent use of on-demand leaders in small and large organizations.

“Leadership On Demand: How Smart CEOs Tap Interim Management to Drive Revenue” is published by LOD Publishing, LLC and can be ordered from http://www.leadership-on-demand.com or http://www.Amazon.com. Sell Anywhere Links - A Revolution in Sales?

New York, NY (PRWEB) August 26, 2009

‘Sell Anywhere Links’ – that’s the name of a new eCommerce solution which has the potential to revolutionize sales and direct marketing on the Internet and in the real world.

For the first time merchants can use a single solution to sell their products and services through any channel available: ranging from websites to TV, from email, YouTube, Facebook, Blogs, RSS feeds, radio, magazines, billboards and direct marketing campaigns to Google Adwords and even through organic search results.

In the past decade the Internet has splintered into many different channels. Yet many of these channels either do not support sales at all or require individual approaches. Until now there was no unified solution available which allows merchants to sell products or services through all of them.

Offline toll free phone numbers connected to expensive call centers have remained the preferred method to generate sales from direct marketing campaigns, despite the Internet being accessible to just about everyone.

‘Sell Anywhere Links’ have the potential to change all this. They allow selling products and services via any Internet channel: they can be used in electronic documents and SMS messages and even make toll free phone numbers in the bricks and mortar world look positively antiquated.

An alternative to toll free

Toll free phone numbers have long been the king of direct sales. They allow customers convinced by television or radio, magazine or letter drop to place an order on the phone as soon as a buying impulse has been triggered.

Sell anywhere links have the same task: to allow customers to immediately act on a buying impulse generated by marketing campaigns. They are – if anything – even easier to remember than toll free numbers. Yet for anyone with Internet access via computer, mobile phone or handheld device they eliminate the need to wait in line, to follow cryptic voice prompts or to pass on payment details to an unknown person. They also streamline the buying process.

So how do they work? To create Sell Anywhere Links Santu, the business behind Sell Anywhere Links, has reinvented Internet addresses. In the past Internet addresses were leading you to a website or a specific page, such as http://www.santu.com for example. Santu has developed and patented a method which allows Internet addresses to do much more. In fact when it comes to e-Commerce, the Santu developers have virtually turbocharged them.

Turbocharged links

When a customer enters a Sell Anywhere Link such as abc123.santu.com or ipod.santu.com into any browsing device, the desired product is automatically added to a shopping cart or a check-out process. Sell Anywhere Links can even complete an order and have digital products or event tickets delivered automatically on behalf of a merchant.

The result: Wherever customers encounter a Sell Anywhere Link they can immediately initiate a purchase, provided they have some form of Internet access. Online by clicking on a simple link and offline by entering the short link into any browsing device. Sellers on the other hand have gained a new powerful tool which allows them to get customers to act immediately on a buying impulse generated via marketing in any online or offline channel.

The ease of use for customers makes it more likely that a purchase is actually completed, and the ability to transfer the transaction onto the Internet means significant cost savings for the seller.

In terms of e-Commerce development this is revolutionary. Not only can a single platform suddenly support any available sales and marketing channel online and offline. It also makes buying easier for customers and cheaper for sellers.

Relief in costs and complexity

While Sell Anywhere Links are the first solution which can be used across all channels, they are not the first attempt to help merchants reduce their reliance on toll free phone numbers in the real world.

Barcodes, pictograms and SMS have been used to let customers act on their buying impulse without dialing a phone number. It is a tempting market after all: real world sales dwarf online sales by a factor of 15 to 1 and call centers for toll free phone numbers are expensive to maintain.

Yet to date none of these solutions have really taken off – mainly due to their complexities and the learning curves customers are expected to deal with.

Sell Anywhere Links don’t appear to have the same problem. People know how to interact with links – the learning curve is minimal. Internet access is available everywhere and the links are easily memorized. Offline they really do appear to be the first reasonable alternative to toll free numbers.

Online or in electronic documents Sell Anywhere Links are of course even easier to use. They don’t need the extensive code common ‘Buy Now Buttons’ require to work – so merchants can easily add them with a simply copy and paste to any online channel ranging from Facebook to Google search results, from RSS feeds to Skype, Twitter, WordPress, YouTube and anything in between. A simple click on the link by the customer will initiate the purchase.

With businesses around the world struggling with the many different solutions required to sell items through multiple channels, the new Sell Anywhere Links offer relief in costs and complexity to any business marketing and selling their products online or offline.

Free Sell AnyWhere Links can be created at http://www.santu.com.

How to Get More Sales from Public Relations and Marketing Dollars

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 16, 2009

Chris Nassetta, president and CEO of Hilton Hotels Corporation, suggested at the 2009 ALIS Hotel Leader’s Outlook panel that the rebound would not be immediate because “the psychological impact was too great.” Many have been psychologically impacted over the past year. Businesses in the global hospitality industry are in the wringer. The bright side is that when a company goes through a wringer, what remains is the true value in the business.

A firm can still squeeze more value from its public relations and digital marketing dollars with these four steps:

1. Assess company strength. Outsource the rest

Make an honest evaluation of the time plus digital marketing and public relations resources that are in-house – outsource the rest.

2. Develop high-value content. Export it consistently.

With the shrinking news hole and proliferation of social media outlets, it is tempting to get caught up in the excitement of the medium. In fact, the most important marketing exercise a company can undergo is a deep dive into its message. What is a company’s true value-add? What is its differentiator? What business problem does the company solve? Answer these questions first, simplify the message and then consistently distribute it.

3. Search engine optimize everything.

Search is the new homepage. A company’s keywords should be thoroughly researched, then sprinkled through every piece of writing and micro-writing that it distributes. Thanks to @stacywms for her blog series on “How to Leverage Social Media for Search Engine Optimization,” which explores SEO for each social media tactic. Take a look.

4. Embrace social media technology to save time.

Social media will hit a tipping point of credibility and use in the hospitality and tourism industry in 2010 and will yield lucrative ROI strategies. Get started now, with one tactic at a time. Here is an effective tutorial on how to tap Twitter’s power in 30 minutes a day.

Todd Cardin Named Sales Manager For Pro Biz Designs

King Of Prussia, PA (PRWEB) September 2, 2006

Todd Cardin was named sales manager for Pro Biz Designs. Pro Biz is a total design company based out of King of Prussia, PA. Todd Cardin has joined Pro Biz for a six month period to launch the new companies internet division. Much of Cardin’s focus will be selling web site design.

Since the mid-1990′s, Web development has been one of the fastest growing industries in the United States. In 1995 there were less than 1,000 Web development companies and in 2005 there are over 30,000 such companies. The Web development industry is expected to grow over twenty percent per year by 2010. The growth of this industry is being pushed by large businesses wishing to sell products and services to their customers and to automate business workflow.

In addition, cost of Web site development and hosting has dropped dramatically during this time. Instead of costing tens of thousands of dollars, as was the case only five or six years ago, you can now develop a simple Web site with only a few hundred dollars.[citation needed] As far as Web development tools and platforms are concerned, there are many systems available to the public free of charge to aid in development. A popular example is the LAMP which is usually distributed free of charge. This fact alone has manifested into many people around the globe setting up new Web sites daily and thus contributing to increase in Web development popularity. Another contributing factor has been the rise of easy to use WYSIWYG Web development software, most prominently Microsoft FrontPage or Macromedia Dreamweaver. Using such software, virtually anyone can develop a Web page in a matter of minutes. Knowledge of HyperText Markup Language or other programming languages is not required.

The next generation of Web development tools leverages the strong growth in Microsoft technologies to provide the Web as an application platform. Web developers now assist in delivering applications as Web services which were traditionally only available as local applications. So instead of running executable code on a local computer, users are interacting with online applications to create new content modalities. This has created new paradigms in communication and created many opportunities for decentralized information and media distribution. Users are now able to interact with applications from many locations, instead of being tied to a specific workstation for their application environment.

Examples of dramatic transformation in communication and commerce led by Web development include e-commerce. Online auction sites such as E-bay have changed the way consumers consume and purchase goods and services. Online resellers such as Amazon.com and Buy.com have transformed the shopping and bargain hunting experience for many consumers. Another good example of transformative communication led by Web development is the blog. Web applications such as WordPress have created easily implemented blog environments for individual Web sites. Also, collaborative Web spaces and online communities such as MySpace and open source content systems such as Xoops, Joomla, and Drupal have extended Web development into new modes of interaction and communication.

Todd Cardin is excited to be a part of an exciting company like Pro Biz and hopes that in 2007 he can integrate his answering service companies with Probiz to provide a full service communications to small businesses everywhere.

NAB Online Retail Sales Index Report Shows Impressive Growth of Online Sales

Perth, Western Australia (PRWEB) July 30, 2012

In a May 2012 report released by the National Australia Bank (NAB), it showed that online spending had a year-on-year growth of 14.2%, which is significantly higher compared to the 0.2% year-on-year growth of traditional retail sales. As of May this year, online sales reached $ 11.3 billion, equivalent to only 5.2% of traditional retail spending.

Experts believe that these developments signify a major change in the purchasing preference of consumers, making it essential for retailers to start adapting a multi-channel approach that can target a wider market and lead to increased profit in the long run.

They also suggest that those intending to engage in online retailing should also be aware of the more specific aspects of online sales such as trends, demographics, states and other factors in order to better understand the market as a whole and jumpstart their business strategies from there.

In the NAB report, online sales index increased by 187 points in May, from 169 points in the prior month. NAB also reported that 73% of retail shares are from domestic online retailers. The report added that the online market is mostly dominated by people in the 30-40 year old age bracket. Those under 30 years of age have the tendency to choose international retailers over domestic ones, and spend more on online recreation and department stores. While consumers aged 60 years old and above, spend more on food and beverages.

In another note, the NAB sales index report showed that among all states in the country, Western Australia has the highest online sales with a 32% year-on-year growth – more than twice the national average value.

In light of these new figures showing the increasing strength of online sales and its importance to the retail industry, plus the huge popularity of social media and mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, experts believe that traditional retailers should start using the Internet to gain a wider market and earn more profit.

Kirk OConnor, Director of Development of Spanky Media, explained how a business can actually make the most out of its marketing campaign by using the online world as a platform.

He said, With the stiff competition and tough business environment these days, it is essential that retailers should seriously start considering using online marketing strategies in their respective businesses. With this platform, they will be able to target a significantly wider market, without having to spend much.

With the recent changes in consumer behaviour, the best move would be to cater to their needs by enhancing customer experience through effective online marketing strategies website, social media, mobile website, and many more.

Survey Shows Online Shopping Will Comprise 6.3% of Total Retail Sales

Perth, Western Australia (PRWEB) August 06, 2012

A recent report showed that online shopping will expectedly take up 6.3% of total retail sales for 2012, as an increasing number of Australians are now making their purchases over the Internet.

This forecast was included in a PricewaterhouseCoopers and Frost & Sullivan Global Retail and Consumer report, which also mentioned that by 2012, 9.6 million Aussie consumers aged 15 and above will make their purchases online.

According to industry experts, the growth of online shopping may be attributed to the growing presence of more online retailers. In addition, factors such as better and more direct communication between consumers and retailers, product expansions and the increasing popularity of mobile commerce will further contribute to online shoppings growth.

Among the sectors predicted to perform best within the next 5 years are footwear, clothing, fashion accessories and jewellery.

With these numbers, Stuart Harker, Global Retail & Consumer Advisory Partner at PwC, explained that retailers in the country must now improve their services and seriously consider using the online platform to take their businesses to the next level.

Harker said, “Like retailers in the US and UK are doing, Australian retailers must fundamentally rethink their strategy, particularly in relation to their real estate and store portfolio.”

“The days of growing by simply opening more stores are long gone,” he added.

The same report predicted that online shopping sales will amount to $ 16 billion by the end of 2012 (or 6.3% of the $ 253.8 billion projected total retail sales) an increase of 17.6% from $ 13.6 billion expenditure last year.

The report also showed that 55% of online shoppers expressed that the main reason they shop online is because of lower prices in online stores, while 15% said that it is more convenient to shop online.

Mobile devices play a key role in driving the growth of online shopping 34% of online purchases have been made through mobile devices for the past 12 months, with 57% of Aussies saying that their online shopping via mobile devices have increased over the year.

Notably, the report said that 88% of Australian consumers are expected to increase or maintain their online spending, indicating a strong drive for online retail in months to come.

Kirk OConnor, Spanky Medias Director of Development, explained how businesses can take advantage of this boom in online retail.

OConnor said, Consumers have evolved aside from adapting to current technology, they look for value in their purchases. They want to have a wide variety of product choices. So retailers should tap into these desires by starting to use the online platform in their marketing campaigns.

Businesses should start utilising effective online marketing campaigns build WordPress websites, engage in social media by creating Facebook brand pages, start a mobile website to target a wider market. These strategies will bring you closer to your market and will give them the convenience they wont get in traditional retail stores eventually increasing your business profitability.

Research Shows Smartphones are Quickly Accelerating Growth of Online Sales

Perth, Western Australia (PRWEB) August 20, 2012

According to a report by international research firm Frost & Sullivan, consumers will spend $ 26.9 billion shopping online by 2016. Compared to a projected $ 16 billion in 2012, this represents an increase of 68% in the next three years. In addition, 57% of those who shop online have used their smartphones to increase their expenditures.

The report cites the same reasons that previous reports have for online sales growth, such as convenience, faster delivery, and lower prices, but also gives a lot of the credit to the number of people now using smartphones to shop.

According to Phil Harpur, senior researcher for Frost & Sullivan, One thing thats stood out to me is mobile usage. He went on to say that, contrary to the steady growth of the first seven years of online shopping, the last three years have recorded what he called a significant acceleration of online purchases.

By the numbers, 55% of online shoppers cited lower prices, while 15% said they dont like crowds and waiting in line, and 11% said they could find products easier online. 88% of those polled said they plan to spend as much or more this year than last year. 75% of online buyers combine to send 45% of their spending overseas.

In Australias 15 to 65 age demographic, 62% own a smartphone, and over half of those say that they have used a smartphone or tablet to shop online in the last year. Many also said they use apps to scan barcodes and compare prices while shopping in local stores. A somewhat surprising element here is that the 15 to 25 age demographic cited comparison shopping as their most important reason for shopping online.

This carries negative implications for traditional brick and mortar stores, but constitutes good news for those who are savvy enough to incorporate online sales, both from computers and mobile devices, into their businesses.

According to Kirk OConnor, Director of Development for Spanky Media, It is more important than ever for businesses to provide a strong online presence. Its not as simple as slapping up a small website with a phone number anymore, and expecting it to generate a flood of phone calls.

OConnor went on to say, Every business, large or small, is leaving a lot of money on the table if they dont sell their products or services online. If a business doesnt make it easy for their customers to buy online, both from computers or mobile devices, it will lose revenue to those businesses that do make it easy for customers to buy their products.

According to industry experts, the increase in mobile devices being used to make purchases has also changed website design. To fully serve its customers, a business has to have a website that is optimised for use on a smartphone. It has to load faster, and it has to be easy enough for someone on a smartphone to navigate without becoming frustrated and looking elsewhere.

Spanky Media, located in Perth, is a web development company which specialises in mobile website development, WordPress development, web design, Facebook brand pages, and other aspects of website development. They produce fully-optimised websites for computers, tablets, and smartphones.

Acobot Live Chat Robot Helps Online Shops Boost Sales by Predicting What Customers Want to Ask

Sunnyvale, California (PRWEB) September 20, 2012

Sunnyvale start-up, Acobot LLC, has added a new feature to its next-generation AI (artificial intelligence) chat bot that predicts users questions before they even finish asking them. The live chat robot, known as Aco, has the inbuilt intuition to predict what a website visitor wants to type and finish their sentence for them. At first glance, the feature is similar to a Google-style auto-complete but rather than just offering tips and phrases, Aco completes the full sentence or offers a choice of finishes. She also understands synonyms and synonymous phrases, so that she can make sense of a question or part-question even when its worded in different ways.

To create a live chat robot for their own site, complete with her Nostradamus-like predictive powers, users simply sign up at http://acobot.com , where they can prepare their personal Aco, free of charge, and then install her on their site when shes ready. Aco is also available as a WordPress chat plugin.

Vic Duan, Acobots founder and CEO, comments: “Aco works like a psychic chat robot, endowed with the power of predicting what visitors are about to ask and finishing their questions for them, or offering them a choice of finishes, all in properly constructed, meaningful and highly relevant sentences. Its almost spooky.”

Acos powers are due to Acobots new breed of advanced AI programming that delivers a sophisticated, intuitive and now almost prophetic chat robot at a price hitherto unavailable. The program is supported by Acobots intuitive learning, which enables even the most inexperienced owner to train Aco in just a few hours, simply by asking her questions and then offering her better replies which she learns and instantly begins to use.

Aco is able to learn much more quickly than any previous generation of chat bots, even those that cost a great deal more, and can provide her own synonymous words and phrases. For example, if an owner teaches her to answer the question “what are your prices?”, Aco will also be able to answer questions such as how much does it cost? and “how much do I need to pay?”, and can add these like-minded meanings to her predictions for questions.

Predicted sentences are more than just a party trick as they provide extremely effective conversion optimization. Vic Duan continues: Acos predictive powers have a number of benefits beyond simply saving time or reducing the need to type whole questions. Monitoring site visitors during beta has shown us that the function acts as an early way of qualifying customer leads. Casual visitors tend to ignore Acos suggestions but serious potential customers are much more likely to select questions relevant to the business. The questions also focus a serious customers train of thought, so that its becomes easier to close a sale straight away, optimizing conversion rates.

The Acobot AI robot is available to non-commercial website owners free of charge. Commercial users can choose from different price plans, including a free plan as well as paid-for plans starting at $ 29/month. Paid-for plans do not include Acobot branding.

About Acobot

Acobot LLC is an AI chat company established in May 2012. Its history goes back to 2009 when a team at Acosys began an R&D project on AI, then launched its first AI product in the final week of 2011. Based on the positive feedback from the first batch of trial users, the company decided to spin off Acobot as a stand-alone company, focused on AI chat.

Wordpress Spy Software Smashes 1,100 Sales in Launch Week

London, UK (PRWEB) November 21, 2012

After starting his web business in 2010, Rob Cornish has become a successful online entrepreneur and keynote speaker. His latest product for digital product creators, affiliate marketers and local business consultants is SpyBar, a browser extension which allows users to reverse engineer competitors websites.

The software has caused quite a stir in the market with over 1,100 copies sold within the first 7 days of launch according to WarriorPlus.

One of the biggest challenges online business owners have is to keep up with the new features, tools and resources that are constantly being released onto the market, says Cornish, founder and CEO of Gain Higher Ground. SpyBar was born out of my own frustration of this.

Instead of struggling to stay informed by reading forums, blogs, newsletters and searching Google, SpyBar allows the user to save time by visiting competitor websites and instantly see which WordPress themes and plugins are being used.

The WordPress platform for website creation has become increasingly popular in recent years with over 57 million sites now in existence according to official WordPress.org statistics. One of the keys to this success has been its open architecture which allows third party developers to code and publish themes and plugins to customize the user experience. Although SpyBar primarily performs WordPress analysis it also goes beyond this realm, with newsletter, SEO and contact information provided as well.

… [another] problem with existing tools is that they are usually desktop or web based so you are forced so switch between them when you need to reverse engineer a site. said Cornish. Not only that but these tools are often expensive and cumbersome to use. SpyBar provides a high value, inexpensive solution to this right inside the users web browser saving both time and money.

The results that SpyBar provides are displayed instantly when the user clicks the softwares browser icon and are also hyperlinked for further research. For example, clicking a result for a WordPress theme or plugin takes you instantly to a new browser tab where SpyBar automatically performs a Google search to find the product page, reviews and tutorials on that item. Similarly, clicking on an SEO result will take the user directly to one of two resources where backlink information is displayed.

This makes is extremely easy for local business or niche marketers who use SEO for traffic generation to acquire the links of their competitors and boost their search engine rankings, added Cornish.

SpyBar software is available for popular web browsers on both the PC and Macintosh and is available, along with a video demonstration at the product website wpSpyBar.Com.

Rob Cornish, an ex-guitar teacher based in London, UK is founder and CEO of Gain Higher Ground which he started on a part time basis whilst still employed as an investment manager. Operating in different online niches, his company sells training, advice and software products.
