Alameda, CA (PRWEB) March 3, 2011

BitNami, which simplifies the process of deploying web applications natively, virtually and in the cloud, released today free templates for popular open source applications for Amazons new CloudFormation service.

AWS CloudFormation simplifies the process of deploying applications on top of Amazon Web Services by allowing developers to describe a stack of cloud resources and bring them up and down as a single unit. BitNami and Red Hat Bring One-Click Web App Deployment to the Amazon Cloud

San Francisco, Ca (PRWEB) February 16, 2012

BitNami, developer of the BitNami library of easy to install web applications, and Red Hat, the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, announced today that they have collaborated to simplify the deployment of popular open source software to the Amazon Cloud as Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based Amazon Machine Images (AMIs).

The newly released AMIs combine BitNamis expertise in packaging and configuring web applications with Red Hats enterprise-class Linux operating system, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, making the AMIs appealing for use in both development and production environments. Using the BitNami-Red Hat Enterprise Linux AMIs, developers and systems administrators can deploy applications such as WordPress, MediaWiki, Drupal, SugarCRM, and Moodle to the Amazon Cloud in one click. The first batch of applications focuses on PHP applications running on the native Red Hat Enterprise Linux stack, and JBoss-powered applications will follow.

BitNami has deep expertise in packaging open source software to make it easy to deploy, said Vijay Sarathy, Director, ISV Ecosystem Cloud Business Unit at Red Hat. Combining the BitNami-packaged applications with Red Hat Enterprise Linux AMIs gives users a quick and reliable way to get their favorite open source applications up and running in the cloud.

The AMIs are available at the same hourly rates as the standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux AMIs, so there is no additional cost to users to use the BitNami-Red Hat Enterprise Linux AMIs to run their favorite open source applications. As with the standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux AMIs, users will have access to AWS premium support with back-end support from Red Hat and access to repository updates from Red Hat to keep their cloud servers patched and up-to-date. The BitNami-Red Hat Enterprise Linux AMIs are available across all Amazon Cloud regions, enabling users to deploy them in the US, Europe, Asia, and South America.

Building BitNami AMIs integrated with Red Hat Enterprise Linux provides users with the ease of the BitNami deployment experience as well as the reliability and support that comes with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, said Daniel Lopez Ridruejo, CTO of BitRock, the developer of BitNami. This combined offering benefits both BitNami and Red Hat Enterprise Linux users by making it easier to run open source apps on Red Hat Enterprise Linux in the cloud.

Certified Hosting Announces Deployment of CloudLinux OS and Ksplice Uptrack Across Shared Hosting Platform for Maximum Uptime and Stability

Los Angeles, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) February 28, 2011

Certified Hosting, a leading shared, reseller, and dedicated server hosting company, announced today major improvements in uptime and stability across the companys shared hosting platform by moving to advanced, innovative CloudLinux OS and Ksplice Uptrack technologies. New and existing Certified Hosting customers using unlimited shared hosting plans will appreciate the increased stability, performance, and availability of their websites thanks to the move.

The reason for the move is to provide an even more stable environment for Certified Hosting customers using our shared hosting services, says Kacy Carlsen, Certified Hosting co-founder and CEO. With innovative technology like CloudLinux OS and Ksplice Uptrack in place, customers using Certified Hosting unlimited hosting plans will definitely enjoy better uptime and performance of their websites and improved quality of service from the Certified Hosting support team.

Regardless of how great any web hosting providers uptime is, there is still downtime every now and then caused by two different factors. While Certified Hosting has a guaranteed 99.9% uptime for customers on all shared hosting plans, occasional downtime, albeit short, has been inevitable due to the shortcomings of previous shared hosting platform technology and server reboots as a result of Linux OS kernel patching. In the past, all shared web hosting providers and their customers had to put up with these two issues as there was no way to fix these prevailing issues.

To combat these two factors and make our uptime even better, Certified Hosting chose the latest innovative CloudLinux OS and Ksplice Uptrack technology for all our shared web hosting servers, says Carlsen. When combined, these two great and innovative technologies allow running shared servers almost without any reboots resulting in nearly zero downtime for shared hosting customers websites. Each technology is aimed at combating one of the two major factors causing downtime on a shared hosting platform.

CloudLinux is an innovative server operating system (OS) that has been designed specifically for shared hosting environments as an alternative to conventional operating systems like CentOS and RHEL. CloudLinux OS features website account isolation on an OS level, which is similar to VPS hosting and results in a more stable shared hosting solution platform. Deploying CloudLinux OS allows Certified Hosting to ensure resource spikes caused by a customers website do not take down the entire server. Each customer will be assigned a finite amount of resources, which will ultimately increase stability and uptime for all shared hosting accounts.

The Ksplice Uptrack service combats another major factor causing downtime in any hosting environment reboots due to Linux OS kernel patching. Usually, Linux servers need to be rebooted monthly or more often to apply kernel security updates. If you look at Certified Hostings uptime record, you will see that most of our downtime is caused by having to reboot servers to apply these updates, says Carlsen. With Ksplice Uptrack, Certified Hosting limits the amount of downtime, if any, that normally occurs due to kernel security updates. There will be no more server reboots as all updates will be applied by hot-patching a running kernel.

Certified Hosting technicians have also embraced both technologies. With CloudLinux OS and Ksplice Uptrack in place, they will not have to rush to pinpoint website accounts causing spikes and get servers back online or spend additional hours to take servers down to perform kernel updates. Instead, Certified Hostings tech support team can spend more time answering questions and helping customers get the most out of their shared web hosting experience.

Certified Hosting constantly monitors the IT market for new and innovative technologies that we can implement to make our customers online experiences even better. We are extremely confident that the CloudLinux OS and Ksplice Uptrack combination will provide us and Certified Hosting customers with a more reliable, stable, and secure shared hosting environment than ever, concludes Carlsen.

Certified Hosting also provides 24/7/365 expert support and monitoring with all shared hosting plans and a host of other free features. To find out more about Certified Hostings unlimited shared hosting plans with maximum uptime and availability in the hosting industry, shared web hosting customers are encouraged to visit http://certifiedhosting.com/unlimited-web-hosting/.
