Arnold Briefing Technical Information Managers From 13 U.S. Agencies

Washingtion, D.C. (PRWEB) September 9, 2009

Stephen E. Arnold, president of Arnold Information Technology (ArnoldIT.com) and a recognized expert on online systems and information processing, will give the keynote address at an invitation-only conference organized by the CENDI, interagency working group of senior scientific and technical information (STI) managers from 13 U.S. federal agencies.

CENDI representatives will receive a briefing on the challenges of changing information technology, particularly as related to the Internet and Google, and how those challenges may affect the federal government. The keynote will be delivered at the headquarters of the National Technical Information Service in Alexandria, Virginia.

Arnold will summarize the current climate of online information access, covering how data is organized and how users access it.

“Google has building blocks. What is important for the U.S. government is that some firms have already begun to use Google tools to deliver dataspace functions today,” Arnold said. He will summarize what users generally want when they search online, what they usually find, and what questions the “new wave” of search systems will raise, including implications for personal privacy, commercial information companies and government agencies generating content.

Arnold is the author of three technical analyses of Google’s infrastructure. His most recent work published in July 2009 is “Google: The Digital Gutenberg.” This study looks in depth at Google’s potential outside of its classic and traditional search origins. It explains how an individual or organization, developer or innovator can use Google to build a business that “surfs on Google.” Information can be monetized using Google’s infrastructure as “a next generation publishing and monetizing platform.” The reference to Google’s Wave is not an accident, because “Google Wave” is one first of the digital bundling services that Google will deploy. A summary is posted at http://www.infonortics.com/publications/google/google-gutenberg.html.

Arnold’s Google trilogy comprises about 500 pages of text, technical diagrams and tabular material. Unique in these monographs is the analysis of Google’s patent documents and technical papers spanning the period from 1998 to 2009. Arnold said, “With a fine grained analysis of Google’s public technical documents, I have been able to discern strategic technology initiatives that are largely unknown outside of a small coterie of Google’s senior engineers and scientists. The implications of Google’s technical capabilities are significant, particularly for businesses who perceive Google as a Web search and advertising company.”

The first volume, “The Google Legacy,” is an overview of Google and of its technology. It provides a look at the foundation technologies and their use within Google and at such core Google services as maps, search and data management. A summary is posted at http://www.infonortics.com/publications/google/google-legacy.html.

The second volume, Google Version 2.0, drilled down into Google’s technology as revealed or suggested by its patents and describes key Google technical innovations developed between 2005 and 2007, a period that Arnold describes as the thrusters for Google’s current line up of products and services. A summary is posted at http://www.infonortics.com/publications/google/google-predator.html.

Mr. Arnold offers a number of detailed briefings about Google’s technical innovations in financial services, publishing, telecommunications, and four other business sectors in which Google’s technology equips Google to be a disruptive force.

A detailed summary of his September 9, 2009, speech will be posted the day of the conference at http://www.arnoldit.com/wordpress.

HootSuite Adds Social Network Team Collaboration Tools - Ideal for Agencies, Enterprises, Consultants and Marketing Groups

(PRWEB) April 12, 2010

HootSuite Media Inc. released Team Collaboration tools in a new version of the popular social media dashboard. Specifically designed for group coordination, teams can now better manage message publishing and conversation monitoring across multiple social networks.

Best known as a web and mobile-based tool for managing Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and other social networks, HootSuite continues to respond to organizations who use the dashboard for customer relationship management and support desks applications, in addition to social media promotional campaigns.

This fundamental advancement will enable enterprises, agencies, content publishers, and consultants to work with clients and colleagues seamlessly, without sacrificing control over confidential account info or compromising message timeliness.

Power of Collaboration

From day one, HootSuite was built with teamwork in mind by offering a solution for managing multiple accounts with numerous contributors. Over the past year, HootSuite added more social networks and additional ways to share access with teams. This new release was developed to better control communication channels by designating “Owners” and “Team Members” to each social network account.

Owners and Teammates

Each social network account now requires an Owner who “holds the keys” to that account (note: this Owner is chosen the next time the user logs in). This Owner can then add Team Members with Basic or Advanced access. Ownership is easily transferred to a client or other Team Member as roles change.

Teams Members are up and running quickly with columns for brand monitoring, keyword searches, list following and more — allowing Teams to concentrate on tracking conversations, spreading messages, and monitoring what works with on-board statistics.

Once assigned to a social network, Team Members can post messages, create additional views and columns, and interact with the details of social networks. Plus, Team Members can add ad hoc social accounts for external teams or personal use, and create their own Teams, all without setting up a separate HootSuite account.

Talk to Everyone

Team Members can also add RSS feeds allowing a auto-updates to social networks whenever a blog, photostream, or other news feed is updated. Users can select a publishing interval, destination social network, and even pre-pend the updates with custom messaging.

Another tool to assist group communication is the “Reply to All” feature. A single click will pre-populate a message with all recipients of the original message without requiring copy-and-pasting or memorizing Twitter handles. This highly-requested feature offers another way to participate in the social conversation while saving keystrokes and time.

Online Madness: Throwing a Life Raft to Web Design Agencies

Melbourne, Australia (PRWEB) April 20, 2012

Technology expert and business Founder Shawn Smith says too many web design agencies are taking on more chaos than they need to when it comes to serving multiple clients with multiple websites.

In the digital age we are now in, websites are obviously a crucial element of any business and some businesses now have anywhere up to five websites for their products and services, said Mr. Smith.

Without a central way to manage the many websites that web design agencies build and often maintain for their clients, the process can become very messy.

Its difficult for web design agencies to keep track of a long line of log-in details, the health of websites, updates of plug-ins and the core software of the content management systems, and this hinders the quality of service they can provide to their clients.

Lacking the right measures to look after many websites simultaneously raises the chances of company websites being hacked, defaced and lost altogether which of course, isnt good for the web design business, not to mention their client!

Having one set of log-in details to access all the websites solves these problems and is far more efficient, making it easier for any web-master to take care of websites in the long term.

As well as spending long periods of time inefficiently in the management of numerous websites, Mr. Smith says there are additional costs for the web design agencies of not managing many websites from one system, including:
