Club Develops Social Media Network

(PRWeb UK) August 18, 2010

The Camping and Caravanning Club has expanded its social media network by adding a Facebook account and a WordPress blog to its online range of services.

The Club already has an account with micro-blogging site, Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/campandcaravan) but has since strengthened its online resources to help increase engagement with members and non-members whilst driving traffic through to its own website.

The additional social media channels will provide campers and caravanners with key opportunities to learn about The Clubs latest news, events and offers whilst also providing an outlet for people to express their opinions and discuss all aspects of the great outdoors.

The Clubs Marketing and Communications Director, Matthew Eastlake, is enthusiastic about the progression.

He said: As the social medium continues to grow, it has become increasingly important for The Club to connect with its members and non-members through a variety of interactive platforms.

Our Facebook, Twitter and WordPress blog pages offer an outlet for campers to increase their knowledge of The Club and share their views.

These sites will provide us with an additional resource to further understand peoples needs.

Northeast Georgia Urologist Develops Prostate Cancer Decision Making App.

Gainesville, Georgia (PRWEB) November 08, 2011

When a friend suggested that he make an app for patients with prostate cancer, Dr. John McHugh initially did not see the need for one.

“When the idea was first proposed my first thought was that the average prostate cancer patient can get all the information he would ever need off the internet. In other words why purchase an app for something you can already access?” says Dr. McHugh.

The difference feels Dr. McHugh is that apps are suited to the smart phone and the ProstateMd app is a portal to everything prostate cancer with the added twist that only a urologist who has had the disease and treated can offer. An app also streamlines the process of accessing multiple sources of information in a seamless fashion.

“I have had a prostate cancer blog, prostate diaries, for over a year now that has been quite successful with over 110,000 views. The blogging process has taught me a lot,not only about the technical side of providing information via the internet, but more importantly the ability to track issues that are most pressing to my intended audience. That audience being the men having been diagnosed with prostate cancer, but also for the people that love them and are as well trying to figure out this complicated disease.”

Dr. McHugh says that his habit of eating lunch in his car opened his eyes to the value of a “content based” prostate cancer app.

“I enjoy eating lunch in my car and listening to the radio while I check things on my iphone,” says Dr. McHugh.

The ProstateMd app has six icons that allows the reader to access podcasts, prostate cancer news by a RSS feed, Dr. McHugh’s blog, links of value, illustrations from his book with a brief explanation, FAQ and links to informative videos.

“I have basically put together a one-stop app for about everything a person would ever want to know about prostate cancer with somewhat of a personal emphasis. The podcasts are recordings I have made addressing common searches on my blog. If one understands the 30 illustrations and their explanations, then they will be very far along in making an educated treatment decision based on the specifics of their disease,” says Dr. McHugh.

Dr. McHugh also makes available a PDF of his novel McHugh Decision Worksheet.

“What the Worksheet does is that it allows the newly diagnosed prostate cancer patient identify those issues regarding treatment and put them into the context of what is important to them. It is a personality test meshed with the treatment options so to speak. It is a very popular item on the blog,” says Dr. McHugh.

With over 250,000 men diagnosed each year in the U.S. and 25,000 dying a year, an app that helps the prostate cancer make the right treatment choices and can be utilized on the run, might very well help a lot of people.

“One feature about this app and the company that allowed me to develop it is that it can be updated regularly by me and the new content becomes live almost immediately. This feature makes it different from a static app and will allow me to address new issues or news about prostate cancer on an ongoing basis. I can do this with video, podcasts or links to sites that I feel as a urologist does a good job from a medical standpoint.”

So to all of you out there that get your information on the run and are app savy…the ProstateMd may be for you. When someone asks you a question about prostate cancer just say,”There’s an app for that!”

ProstateMd is available for iphone and ipad in the itunes store and on Droids.

Dr. McHugh is a private practice urologist in Gainesville, Georgia and dignosed and treated for prostate cancer in 2007. His book, “The Decision” is the number one Kindle on Amazon for the subject of prostate cancer.

Captains of Industry

Boston, Mass. (PRWEB) November 11, 2010

Boston marketing, web design and video production firm Captains of Industry ( http://www.captainsofindustry.com ) designed and developed a new corporate website for Cogenra Solar ( http://www.cogenra.com ), a Khosla Ventures backed solar cogeneration company based out of Mountain View, California. The new site was designed to showcase Cogenras technology that allows for generating electricity and heating water with the same system.

Cogenra has developed an innovative technology which, after seeing the spectacular photography they had, is really quite beautiful, said Ted Page, co-founder and Creative Director at Captains of Industry. The finished website feels very modern and contemporary, while also demonstrating that the technology is proven.

In order to give Cogenra full control over the site, it was built on the flexible WordPress CMS. This means that Cogenra can continue to make updates, changes or additions to the site as needed, without the assistance (and added cost) of an outside web design firm.

Captains understands the needs of cleantech companies and made the entire web design and development process easy for us, said Preston Roper, CMO and VP of Corporate Development at Cogenra Solar. From consulting with us during our own logo development process to creating a beautiful design to teaching us how to use the CMS, they worked with us every step of the way to deliver a website we are proud of.

In addition to the design of the site, Captains of Industry also worked with Cogenra Solar to develop illustrated graphics that explained how solar cogeneration works, and what the benefits of the technology are.

Cogenras photography was taken by Gary Parker ( http://www.garyparker.com ).

Enve Creative Develops WordPress Website for 10 West Self Storage

Torrington, Connecticut (PRWEB) July 31, 2012

Enve Creative has launched a search engine optimized WordPress and HTML5 website at http://10westselfstorage.com for 10 West Self Storage. 10 West Self Storage offers climate-controlled self-storage units and lockers, at various sizes, to businesses and individuals in and around Morris, Connecticut.

Owner Sarah Espano, lead designer for the project, worked hand-in-hand with the owner and operator of 10 West Self Storage to develop an upscale, easy-to-navigate online experience for his prospective clientele. The basic sketch provided by the business owner was developed into a content-rich resource and self-storage guide.

The owner indicated his desire to use the website to attract high-end clientele who would most likely benefit from his climate-controlled facility. The color scheme, layout, and feel of the website is designed to meet that goal, as well as to mimic the color scheme of the interior of the building itself.

Enve visited the location to take high-quality photographs of the bright, clean facility and the individual self-storage units. They created schematic drawings of each self-storage unit to give an exact understanding of scale, and developed copy for the Storage Units page to describe what each unit might best hold. Each storage unit type was then paired with its own photo gallery to entice prospects to request an appointment to tour the facility.

Two content-rich pages that Enve built into the site became essential add-ons for search engine optimization (SEO) purposes: Storing at 10 West and Storage & Packing Tips. They provide guidelines and helpful advice for how best to maximize the self-storage experience.

It can be challenging to transform a website this size, with such a focused purpose, into more than just a run-of-the-mill brochure website, Espano says. During our initial research stage, we discovered how similar businesses were making something as straightforward as self-storage into an opportunity for educating their clientele. We integrated these two pages into the 10 West website because we wanted to set it apart from the other Connecticut self-storage facilities, while also providing valuable tips for the intended audience.

Another key feature of the website is the ability for existing clients to pay their bills online via credit card or direct debit through a secure payment network.

To help ensure wider reach for the local business, Enve listed it with Bing Business and Google Places. The client had requested the ability to maintain the website on his own, so Enve elected to build the website on a WordPress platform. Following launch, they created a detailed set of screencast training videos for the owner to reference going forward.

OnTheGoSystems Develops New Plugins for Designers to Build Complex WordPress Websites

(PRWEB) December 19, 2011

OnTheGoSystems has released two game-changing plugins: WP Types and Views. Together, these plugins make it easy for designers to create complex WordPress websites without having to write a line of PHP. All thats needed from the designer is a working knowledge of HTML and CSS knowledge and the Types and Views plugins make the vision come to life on the screen.

WordPress comes with Post and Page features; however, there is little room for custom content types such as Product, Website, Portfolio, Listing and Property. The types plugin, from OnTheGoSystems, creates custom content types, which increases the flexibility of themes. This level of custom content normally requires special attributes, like images, prices and other fields. Developers can use the Types plugin to create all of these additional features, and easily organize this content with taxonomy, to fully customize the WordPress editing interface.

The Views plugin loads content and displays it. This is where the concept comes into its own, said Amir Helzer, CEO of OnTheGoSystems.

For single pages, Views creates dynamic templates. And, for content lists, Views will query the database, load just the right content and display it. This allows designers the ability to create templates for their content types without being forced to leave the WordPress dashboard, allowing for every template to display custom WordPress content elegantly and without any coding.

Every real estate site, web portfolio, auction site, directory and classified starts with a list; theyre the cornerstone of complex websites. To create a list, Views queries the database, loads just the right content using filters. The supports an unlimited number of filters, with increasing levels of complexity.

With Views, designers and web developers can deliver fully-functional, working and tested sites in days, not weeks. All it takes is CSS and HTML experience.

Types and Views revolutionize how designers use WordPress, said Helzer. Designers no longer have to rely on a skilled PHP developer to realize their creations. With Types and Views they have a huge amount of advanced functionality at their fingertips.

Types and Views even come with an embedded mode. This means that theme designers can create beautiful WordPress themes using the plugins and embed the functionality within that theme.

Types is a free plugin and available for download from the WordPress plugin repository. Views costs $ 49 USD and is available at http://wp-views.com. Every purchase of Views comes with support and upgrades for a year.

About OnTheGoSystems

OnTheGoSystems is the maker of the popular WordPress Multilingual (WPML) plugin, with over 50,000 active websites. With the launch of Types and Views, OnTheGoSystems delivers a complete package for web developers and designers.

21 Year Old Penn State Student Develops Very Useful WordPress Plugin to Help Website Owners Edit their Site"s Design Online.

State College, PA (PRWEB) April 14, 2012

Editing the design of a WordPress website has just been made easy by 21 year old WordPress expert John Cook. He has developed an amazing WordPress plugin for WordPress users. This plugin will allow WordPress website owners to modify their website online directly on the web pages they want to edit. Currently, website users are required to search through a WordPress theme’s HTML/CSS files and find and change the HTML/CSS code for any theme they want to edit. However, using the new DIV Layer WordPress plugin, users can click to select a part of a page on their site and edit it. To know more about this amazing WordPress Plugin, please visit http://www.divlayer.com.

WordPress is an extremely popular content management system, and an open source blogging platform. The latest version of this acclaimed tool has been downloaded a whopping 65 million times at the end of the year 2011, according to a recent survey. Plugin architecture is one of the most liked features of WordPress that helps to extend its abilities beyond the basic features. WordPress is known to have around 19,000 plugins. This new plugin will help WordPress users create and save different versions of their themes. These different versions of themes are converted into child themes. The admin users can activate the theme of their choice simply by selecting the theme and the version they want as the active theme.

John Cook has been an extremely technology savvy person from a very young age. As a teenager, he conceived the idea of developing a website creator. Talking about his remarkable feat, he says, I had an idea to create a web based website creator back on September 20th 2006 and started working on it. That project morphed into this. It was around 2008 that I decided to make it into a WordPress plugin. It may be noted here that Mr. Cook is also the founder of the company named DIV Text, LLC that developed the DIV Layer Editor plugin. This plugin is now available for free as an open source WordPress plugin.

About the Company: DIV Text, LLC is a company owned and managed by Mr. John Cook. This company develops websites and provides software and training for website development and internet marketing.
