Web Standards and Mobile Device Web Viewing Get a Facelift with New Responsive Web Development

(PRWEB) July 31, 2012

Always comfortable blazing their own trail, Spark Logix Studios, a Minneapolis based inbound marketing company, is leading the web industry with their adoption of responsive web design. This practice not only changes the way they build and code a site, but makes it possible for consumers to properly view a site no matter what internet device is used for display.

Responsive web design (RWD) evolved out of the need to streamline the design process and create web pages that adapt to the medium on which they are viewed. Before RWD, designers were faced with the laborious task of coding one site multiple times to accommodate today’s various internet ready devices (desktops, smartphones, tablets, etc.) and their assortment of browsers, screen sizes, resolutions, and orientations. Alternatively, designers using RWD only code one site that is flexible and able to render appropriately no matter its environment.

RWD works by using Cascading Style Sheets 3 media queries. Essentially, the media queries ask certain questions about a device, such as its size or orientation (portrait or landscape), and modifies the site for the optimal viewing experience before loading it on the screen, which occurs instantaneously. Additionally, RWD uses fluid, proportion-based grids in its layouts as opposed to traditional grids with fixed widths, heights, and gutter sizes. These fluid grids rely on percentages of the maximum available space, so they can contract or expand based on the size of the screen. RWD is even intelligent enough to resize images, introduce new or alternate layouts, and selectively show or hide elements on a page.

Proponents of responsive web design, such as Spark Logix Studios, feel it is the best way to handle the bombardment of internet devices hitting the market. Rob Benson, Spark Logix Studios’ Creative Director and WordPress Web Designer, explains, “It’s impractical to tailor a different website for every new and forthcoming gadget — with such an approach, designers are always playing catch-up. By using responsive web design, we provide our clients with future-friendly websites that naturally display properly no matter what device they are viewed on.”

Members of Spark Logix Studios feel responsive web design allows them to offer other benefits to their clients as well, including efficiency and positive experiences for the growing number of mobile users. “Instead of spending extra time and money managing multiple versions of the same material, we use responsive web design to integrate static and mobile web design in one, which enables us to give our customers a singular site that works on all devices,” said Benson. “Also, responsive web design puts our clients in the valuable position to connect with the growing mobile audience who expect websites to respond intuitively to their devices,” he continued.

Although many web designers are still using traditional methods for website creation, there is a budding movement for responsive web design and Spark Logix Studios is one of the innovative companies in Minnesota and throughout the world leading the way. As the number of differing internet devices continues to rise, the demand for uniformity in the areas of design and coding is bound to increase and RWD as used by Spark Logix Studios may be the simplest solution, which offers standardization for designers and a positive experience for consumers.

Active Web Group, Inc. Now Offers Free Responsive Web Design Analysis

Hauppauge, NY (PRWEB) October 25, 2012

Active Web Group, Inc. (AWG), an award-winning online marketing company headquartered in Hauppauge, New York, today announced a Free Responsive Website Analysis, for business owners who may be considering a new website or redesign of their existing online business. Responsive web design (RWD) is a web development strategy in which a site is planned to provide an optimal user experience in terms of navigation and be accessible across a wide range of devices from desktops to mobile phones. Interested business owners may expect a thorough site review and design suggestions for tailoring the new site to be flexible and highly efficient for visitors to use.

Responsive web design is more than an industry buzzword, states Pat Norton, Vice President and Director of Business Development, Active Web Group, Inc. It is a sound business practice to give the customer what they want and the online tool that they will need to maintain their competitive edge, he states. A responsive website is designed to respond to the device that accesses it and delivers appropriate output. According to Google, 67% of mobile users state that they are more likely to buy from a mobile-friendly site, Norton adds. And 74% say they will return to mobile-friendly sites to make repeat purchases. Therefore responding to consumers needs by creating mobile-friendly sites is an imperative, he concludes.

Why Consider a Responsive Design Website?

Web designers everywhere listen to the latest search engine optimization mandates and adjust their practices accordingly to ensure high search engine rankings and ultimately a higher ROI. In fact, Google has recently stated that their preferred format is now responsive web design.

A hallmark of flexible and responsive web design will provide scalable functionality into the future. If a mobile site is under consideration by a prospective client, for example, Active Web can customize the primary site so that a mobile site may easily be spun off concurrently or in the near future. Business owners who may be ready to take that next step are advised to contact Active Web Group as soon as possible for their customized, no-cost responsive web design analysis.

A full-service agency, Active Web Group also has extensive experience in Search Engine Optimization (SEO), mobile websites, Digital Media, Programming (all proficiencies including php, asp and asp.net), Email Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Graphic Design, E-Commerce, Magento Ecommerce, WordPress Ecommerce, custom solutions and Pay-Per-Click Marketing.

iPhone Speaker Reviews Announces New Responsive Site Design

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 09, 2012

iPhone Speakers Reviews is pleased to announce the next step in its evolution, the redesign of http://www.iphonespeakerreviews.com. This redesign includes new elegant look, responsive template and performance additions to increase page load speeds.

iPhone Speaker Reviews has over 100 user and editor reviews of all the top selling speaker products. The whole website now reacts to the size of the browser viewing the site. It adjusts modules, menus and page content based on the size of the browser. This makes viewing the website from devices like the iPad or iPhone much easier. According to the site designers many of the visitors come to their site using iPhones.

The design on the new site is now more elegant and welcoming. The darker accent colors and larger font sizes help to make visitors feel more comfortable while using the site. These colors add more contrast which makes it easier to focus on sections of readable content.

Navigating on the site is much easier. A new menu system has been integrated that makes it much easier to find deeper website content. For each of the brand sections, the company logos have been added into the menu so users can spot which of the companies they are looking for quickly.

On the backend of the website, new script merging tools, compression techniques, and other plugins have been added to help reduce the load times on the pages. This dramatically increases the speed at which pages load, making it much easier for the users to navigate to the information they are looking for.

iPhone Speaker Reviews is now updated to the latest version of Joomla. Joomla 2.5 has improved security measures, better user interface and is easier to keep up to date. Using Joomla and extensions helps the website administrators keep the site performing well in search engines.

Paul Cowley, Website Designer, said, Redesigning a site gives us a chance to upgrade a lot features. We are able to take a step back and look at the site as a whole, think about improvements and make crucial decisions for the end user. After taking time to rethink our look and feel, we feel like the improvements we made will increase visitor satisfaction by a lot. Our goal is to lead people to their perfect iPhone speaker system, and these changes help to get us there.

About iPhone Speaker Reviews — The website was established in 2008 and is owned and managed by Intown Web Design of Atlanta, GA. ShopIntegrator.com Shopping Cart Launches Mobile E-Commerce and Website E-Commerce Responsive Checkout Design

Harpenden, UK (PRWEB) September 24, 2012

ShopIntegrator’s responsive e-commerce and m-commerce shopping cart software meets the changing needs of online shoppers whilst on the go with their smart-phones, on their tablet devices or sitting at their PC.

ShopIntegrator.com makes it easy to turn any website into an online store in minutes, with absolutely no programming skills necessary. ShopIntegrator’s shopping cart software provides a quick and powerful solution to add e-commerce buttons into a website which are also m-commerce compatible. ShopIntegrator provides a combined e-commerce/m-commerce solution for merchants selling digital download products, tangible goods with shipping costs and customizable personalized products.

Research by Gartner predicts a significant shift from e-commerce to m-commerce by 2015, when mobile e-commerce will account for over 50 percent of online sales. The release of the iPhone five years ago marked a shift towards a mobile-dominated future, said David Mitchell Smith, Gartner research vice president. ShopIntegrator’s latest shopping cart software is capable of delivering a responsive e-commerce and m-commerce website shopping experience. This is going to be crucial to the ongoing success of any online merchants preparing for the shift in the way online sales are changing. ShopIntegrator is fully tested and compatible with Apple iOS (iPhone/iPad/iTouch) and Google Android smart-phone and tablet devices. Gartner shows Q2 2012 smart-phone sales for Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android mobile devices with a combined total of 82.9% market share.

ShopIntegrator’s shopping cart design update gives merchants a beautiful, minimal e-commerce checkout design to complement a site’s existing style as soon as it is added into the website. The addition of the new ‘Versatile’ built-in e-commerce button collections results in a wider appeal for merchants to seamlessly integrate the ShopIntegrator e-commerce software into a website with very little effort or design customization.

ShopIntegrator improves the shopping cart software’s ability to charge national country taxes, such as VAT for European Union (EU) countries, with a new regional taxation feature. ShopIntegrator is now capable of calculating US state sales taxes and Canadian provincial taxes in the online store checkout. A recent bill under consideration by the US Senate Commerce Committee would require online merchants charge the US state sales tax of the buyer on purchases shipped to their residents, even if the seller had no physical operations within that US state. Whatever the result of the US Senate Commerce Committee’s bill, a merchant will have an online e-commerce solution ready to handle the outcome when building an online store using ShopIntegrator.

To learn more about the latest features in ShopIntegrator 4.0 visit: http://www.shopintegrator.com/news/mobile_ecommerce_checkout_us_state_sales_tax.html

ShopIntegrator’s McAfee Secure and PCI Compliant e-commerce solution empowers small merchants with an easy-to-use, yet powerful hosted shopping cart Software as a Service (SaaS). ShopIntegrator lowers the entry barrier for small merchants looking to add an online store to their website. Merchants are freed up to focus on selling their products instead of managing their own e-commerce infrastructure.

Using ShopIntegrator’s shopping cart means that there is no need to change web hosting companies. With no software to install, it works with most websites and is all managed online. ShopIntegrator is straightforward to add into simple HTML website templates or use with DIY site builders like Weebly, Moonfruit, Yola, 1&1 MyWebsite. It also has dedicated e-commerce plug-ins to simplify adding e-commerce into popular Content Management Systems (CMS) such as WordPress and DotNetNuke [DNN] etc.

WooThemes Acquires Fully Responsive Slider Plugin FlexSlider

Cape Town, South Africa (PRWEB) March 07, 2012

WooThemes, one of the largest theme and infrastructure providers for WordPress sites, today announced that the company has acquired the FlexSlider jQuery library. The acquisition is part of a broader strategy to bring under one roof a suite of products that offer complete end-to-end WordPress development, and further solidify WooThemes as a true platform for the best sites in the world.

Importantly, the beautiful jQuery slider plugin will remain free and open source, and creator Tyler Smith will continue to maintain, support and upgrade the current library. With FlexSlider, both true beginners and seasoned developers can create a fully responsive slider for their responsive designs in three simple steps.

We have been using FlexSlider in many of our products, and have absolutely fallen in love with it, said WooThemes co-founder Adii Pienaar. Not only that, we think that FlexSlider is strategic to our vision of WooThemes as the platform of choice for everything WordPress. Responsive Web design can be complicated, and with FlexSlider, Tyler un-complicated it. The plugin will remain free and open source so that anyone and everyone can help us improve even more. This is just as much about long-term stability for FlexSlider as it is about what WooThemes can do with it.

WooThemes, founded over 4 years ago, has amassed 75,000 paying customers, and its free themes have been downloaded more than 1.3 million times. WordPress itself currently powers 22% of all websites in the US.

WooThemes specifically chose FlexSlider over other alternatives based on the ease of implementation due to the simple and semantic markup, and the fully responsive functionality. FlexSlider is also very compatible with other libraries and easy to use across all environments. Competing plugins include Slides, Nivo Slider and wmvSlider.

FlexSlider is special. We are really focused on new products that extend not only our themes, but any WordPress installation, no matter where it resides, or how it originated, said Magnus Jepson, co-founder of WooThemes. Seamless integration between themes and plugins sounds great, but it is non-trivial in practice, and makes a huge difference for WordPress developers new and old. And at WooThemes generally, were officially on a mission now to claim more and more real estate in the average WP stack. Were not just growing our own product base, were adding everything thats been missing along the way. We want to be the dream WP stack. WooCommerce was a huge step in the right direction, and now were thrilled to offer even more with FlexSlider.

The open and extensible nature of FlexSlider also provides the WooThemes team and community a chance to further enhance the project ongoing. FlexSlider was developed under the MIT free software license, which allows for reuse in proprietary software. The WooThemes team is currently working on the next version with Smith, which will include a number of optimizations and new features, and will continue to maintain and update FlexSlider on its GitHub project page.

WooThemes is also working on a Woo-agnostic version of FlexSlider for easy integration into any installation.

FlexSlider is available for download today. More information on FlexSlider can be found at http://woothemes.com/flexslider.

Responsive Web Design By Miami Web Developer Adds Broad Accessibility to High Visibility For StreamlineSolutionsUsa.com

Miami, FL (PRWEB) December 09, 2012

Streamline Solutions LLC opted out of the great device-agnostic versus device-aware responsive web design (RWD) debate by combining the advantages and avoiding the pratfalls of both in the front-end development of their recently launched “Web 3.0 Ready” website StreamlineSolutionsUsa.com, also accessible as SoiledLinenBags.com.

Streamline Solutions provides hospitals, healthcare facilities and commercial laundries throughout the United States and Canada with soiled linen bags, hamper stands and other laundry and medical supplies. In business since 1999, the first two iterations of their website long enjoyed the high search visibility afforded by semantically-optimized W3C standards-compliant web development. And with the recent launch of their third generation site, they add the broad accessibility potential of a fully responsive web design. According to Ross Sanders, Vice President of Sales and co-owner of Streamline Solutions, “The Web is going mobile and we are responding to that. The new web pages Bruce Arnold designed and developed for us are, in fact, about as ‘responsive’ as you can get. From flip phones to tablets to full-sized desktop monitors, the screen presentation adjusts in real time to optimize the viewer’s experience.”

Scripted in server-side PHP/MySQL with client-side jQuery/Javascript and rendered as W3C-validated HTML5/CSS3, the new SoiledLinenBags.com has an integrated WURFL DDR (device description repository) and leverages the best features of device-agnostic and device-aware responsive web design coupled with semantically-optimized front-end web development to assure both high search visibility and broad device accessibility. Mobile microbrowsers with screen resolutions below 240×320 are automatically routed to their W3C mobileOK “MiniPage” located at m.soiledlinenbags.com. Mobile browsers with screen resolutions of 240×320 or higher are routed to the full presentation but given the option to drop back to the MiniPage. For all web browser screen widths of 240 pixels or above, the Streamline Solutions presentation – including text, images and animations – automatically expands, contracts and adjusts horizontally, vertically and in real time up to a parameter-modifiable maximum of 1300 pixels and is screen-centered beyond that. This assures an ideal presentation for virtually anyone using popular desktop and notebook browsers like Chrome or Firefox as well as tablet and smartphone browsers like Opera Mobile for Android devices or Mobile Safari for iPad/iPhone. Zoom is enabled by default for Mobile Web browsers, but for mobile devices with glitchy zoom capabilities like the original iPad a footer link is provided to disable it.

“Streamline Solutions has a reputation of being one of the most flexible and responsive laundry supply companies in North America,” observed Miami web design veteran Bruce Arnold, “and Web3.0DesignMiami.com and WebReDesignMiami.com worked very hard to develop a design for them that projects those admirable qualities.”

About StreamlineSolutionsUsa.com a.k.a. SoiledLinenBags.com

Streamline Solutions has been providing hospitals, healthcare facilities and other commercial laundries throughout the United States and Canada with recyclable soiled linen bags, hamper stands, disposable plastic waste can liners, cart covers and wraps, infectious waste bags, medical supplies and a wide range of quality, cost-effective product solutions since 1999. Through custom printing, soiled linen and hamper stand, plastic recycling and facility needs analysis programs they create win/win partnerships with a growing base of satisfied customers from coast to coast. Latest SuperFastBusiness News Focuses on Straight Out of the Box Responsive Wordpress Themes and Easy Website Navigation Tips

Sydney, Australia (PRWEB) September 03, 2012

With a consistently growing number of people accomplishing their online activities through their mobile devices, SuperFastBusiness brings to readers attention the important strategy of making websites responsive and very simple to navigate. These strategies are easy to implement through the exciting offerings of SuperFastBusiness.

James Schramko, Internet Marketing expert and CEO of SuperFastBusiness easily defines the term responsive as more or less a skin for your WordPress that will adjust when it meets different screen resolutions. Traditionally a responsive theme will work across 4 different web sizes. Theres a tool that people can use to check what their websites look like in various screen options. He adds, When your website hits a different screen size, your website should be viewable by scrolling vertically without having to go horizontally and it will also make the images the right size. All this can be done without plugins if people have responsive themes for their WordPress sites.

It takes a substantial amount of work and money to make custom websites responsive, though; experts are required to properly code the websites so they can work across different screen sizes because a lot of themes are not responsive out of the box. While there are free plugins that can be used to make websites adapt to mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers, these plugins typically have their own themes that do not necessarily make websites look the same on a small screen as they do on a standard big screen, which can be rather confusing and difficult to navigate. However, with the pre-made, straight out of the box responsive WordPress themes which are available through ATLWeb, these issues can easily be addressed.

To those who are not sure if their website needs to be responsive, Schramko recommends looking at analytics, it will tell you the percentage of people who use a mobile device. What you will find is that on some blog sites, you got a high mobile usage and then the more commercial you get; you might start to drop down a little bit on the mobile usage.

He also claims that more than anything, making sure that the websites are easy to navigate is very important. Keeping everything relevant and useful; providing all the information (such as contact details and history of the business) most people look for in an easily viewable manner; and not to flooding the site with numerous plugins are some more of the experts valuable instructions.

With regard to plugins, Schramko advises conducting a website check to see which plugins are present and if they are working compatibly for easy viewing. He says that its also a good idea to back-up websites using something like BackUp Buddy (a smart WordPress plugin that backs up WordPress sites – not just content but themes, SQL database and other plugins that come with the complete WordPress package) for a big plugin change. Those who do not have the technical know-how for this may go to ATLweb.com and order a 5-hour pack which includes a wide range of services such as WordPress health check for SEO, as well as, security and compliance, and even tips or advice about hosting or moving sites from one site to another.

Schramko also mentions other related products and services, directing those looking to buy a website thats already been built to VREDirect.com for domains and websites for sale and those interested in using animations to SuperFastVideos.com. This is where you supply us an audio track and then we animate it with around 20 custom pictures. Theyre handmade for you. Theyre not stock images; theyre not made with some cartoon generator. These are original pictures. So you can get around about 20 custom images put to your soundtrack and well animate that for you.

Pinterest Wordpress Theme that Is Socially Integrated and Mobile Responsive - Bloggers Rejoice Over Pinsomo"s Release

(PRWEB) September 12, 2012

PinSomo has become the favorite Pinterest WordPress theme for online SMEs and non-profit users alike. Not only is it easy to use, but it is incredibly effective in building a traffic and readership to a website. Because of PinSomo, any user has the potential to increase site traffic easily, with the simple change of a wordpress theme. Many users have been revived from the backlash of the Google Panda and Penguin updates, creating more and more happy customers.

The creator of PinSomo, Daniel Tan, realized that many users were struggling to rank high enough or even appear in the SERPs to remain competitive in their online marketing and sales efforts, especially since the Google Panda and Penguin updates. They needed a way to bring in traffic. Daniel saw the opportunity there, and putting the worlds fastest growing social site currently and this together, he found a solution. Daniels years of search engine optimization expertise has definitely paid off as he created the first social-mobile Pinterest theme for wordpress, PinSomo. Obviously, this wasnt made exclusively for users just to generate more site traffic. Daniel also pointed out how Amazon affiliate sites that use heaps of visual content to generate sales should be using PinSomo — because it makes sense. Research has even shown how Etsy.com enjoyed more sales traffic generated from people who viewed images from their site.

This Pinterest WordPress theme also incorporates Social and Mobile functionalities, meaning to say that not only will it generate traffic, it is also socially integrated with Facebook OpenGraph and Insights, which basically consolidates the data (their habitual patterns in navigating the site) and puts all that data into an easily interpretable graph. It also has a mobile responsiveness design which adjusts the layout and graphics of the website in accordance to the screen size of any viewing device. I believed that PinSomo appeals to both online businesses as well as users that just simply want to gain some internet popularity. But at the end of the day, when we talk our walk, we walk our talk. Thats why we have happy customers. Its because we deliver what we promise., Daniel explains.

One user, Brett had this to say to Daniel about PinSomo, “Daniel, this new and improved wordpress theme is a freakin wonder. Im pretty decent when it comes to web marketing and management, but its impossible to keep track and monitor the traffic performance of a site and all the changes on whether to make-or-break the site just becomes heavy guesswork. But with PinSomo, Im now able to see the effects for myself and not just take your word for it. I can easily adjust the site accordingly to what my visitors are basically doing — all through Facebook! This is all too easy, Daniel. This is truly the best Pinterest WordPress theme.”

About PinSomo: PinSomo is a WordPress Theme that was created by Daniel Tan in order to help internet marketers improve sales by improving site traffic. More than $ 4,000 was put into creating this theme and its popularity has grown tremendously mainly because people seriously took on the idea of having a website that looked like Pinterest in order to generate more site traffic, which sparked off that potential of being able to convert all that traffic into profit.
